    Any December Sleever's?

Hi Mamabear, I was sleeved on 17th as well. Did it in Tijuana and all went well. Just got home at midnight last night. I feel quite exhausted. Tiny sips of my protein concoction taking one pill at a time this morning. Breaking them in half, too. Hard, but managing through it. How is your energy level? I feel like a lot of gas is gone, but still some left. I am on clear liquids through Wednesday. I am thinking maybe energy will be better in the "mush" stage. For Christmas dinner, I am going to try a couple baby bites of mashed potato mixed with gravy possibly. Right now I have no appetite, so wondering if I will even want that. Could also mix the whey protein in the mash potatoes so you are getting the protein in the baby bites. I use pure whey isolate so it won't change the flavor.

    Any December Sleever's?

Mine is Thursday as well. Not afraid, but definitely nervous. I am flying down to Tijuana for it. Hubby is coming, too. Feeling sick right now from the laxative (never had one before). Getting used to liquid diet. Fortunately, I have some yummy homemade turkey stock I put in the freezer from Thanksgiving (hee, hee, gave the boxed stuff to the family for the gravy and dressing...they never knew). Best of luck to you mo oneal and anyone else who is getting sleeved on Thursday! We are Sleeve Bro's and Sista's! Check back in to let us all know how you are doing!!! Thinking of you Helen in UK. Hoping you are enjoying food while you can! Have some chicken pad thai for me....I am craving it!!! Hugs to all!

    Any December Sleever's?

I make my own with pure whey isolate (no added flavorings, sweeteners, etc.). I usually add 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup or juice (apple or orange for sweetness) and 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk. Sometimes a little water if too thick. Best not to blend very long or the whey just froths into craziness.

    Any December Sleever's?

Hey Mamabear, I too, sometimes second guess what I am about to do (12/17 for me, too!). I think about all the foods I can't have anymore....or for at least a very long time. For example, I have been wishing that I got some chicken pad thai one more time before I went on my pre op diet. Stupid, but I know it will bug me for a long time. Not going to cheat though. Then, I re route my thoughts to what I will feel like once all this excess weight is gone. I think about the things I will be able to do that I haven't done in years and years. That solidifies my decision! (I write this as I am downing, yet, another protein drink...). Hugs to all of you! Have a blessed Sunday!

    Any December Sleever's?

MsMe, my paperwork says to stop all vitamins, and certain medications like ibuprofen, one week before surgery. I know that ibuprofen acts like a blood thinner and so does some vitamins, so, I believe that is why they want you to stop these things one week prior to surgery. Of course, you should probably get this confirmed with your doctor.

    Hospital stay question

My surgery is Dec 17 and I will be in Tijuana 4 nights. Nights 2 and 3 are in the hospital. 1 and 4 at hotel. Is that what you are doing? Maybe the 1 nighters are in the US?

    Any December Sleever's?

I am so sorry about the feedback you got from your "great friend", joshazkid1. I have told a handful of friends and they have all been extremely kind and supportive about it. Of course, when I tell them I am having the surgery in Tijuana, they sort of freak out and say, "really?" At first, they just don't understand but then they come to their senses and say, "I know you, you have probably researched and then researched some more. I trust you know what you are doing and am so happy for you." That is what your friend should be saying....Perhaps your friend is jealous and worried about the friendship when you are no longer the "same size". Anyhow, I am getting my surgery done the day befoe you in Tijuana. Which hospital will you be at? .....small world!!
  8. Great question. I am interested to hear suggestions as well. Especially from those who had to fly home after their surgery. I will be catching a 7 pm flight back to Washington state from San Diego. Also, I will have at least 8 hours until my flight leaves after being dropped off at the airport. I hear about people up and walking and some even shopping in Tijuana after their surgery. I was thinking about going to Mass and then getting a taxi to Coronado Beach to walk around a bit. My husband will be with me. Am I crazy to think I will be up for this?

Great idea about the planner, Robin! Don't worry about the IV. Know that a little (very little!) discomfort is only temporary! ;)What is really good is that you are already envisioning this time next year! I am still trying to mentally get past the work involved in getting to next year. I actually might not feel embarrassed to wear shorts by summer! The prospect is exciting!

What are you working on Pre-op?

First thing I did was ween myself off coffee. I knew I had to give up caffeine and from past experience, I didn't want to go through it on top of recovering from the surgery and all the other adjustments. Sounds silly, but I suffer from at least two weeks of a bad head ache when I quit coffee. Next, I started researching for a good nutrition supplement plan for post surgery. I have a lot of food allergies with artificial sweeteners being a big one. I wanted to find high quality vitamins in powder or liquid form that didn't have additives that I could mix into protein smoothies I will make myself. I finally found a great multi, a calcium complex and plain whey all in powder form. They have no added sweeteners or flavors. I have made smoothies with them and they are delicious. Now, my pre op diet doesn't begin until Dec. 10th, so I have been making the most of my last few weeks of diet freedom and been enjoying whatever I want (except coffee)....my last hurrah, guilt free! Crazy, huh? Yes, I have gained a couple more pounds...Dec. 17th will be the real beginning of my new life!

    Any December Sleever's?

My sleeve is scheduled for Dec. 17th! Been waiting so long. I am super excited to start this new chapter of my life. I noticed when I filled out the questionaire, they had a lot of doctors listed but mine wasn't. Wondering if anyone is familiar with Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela? She is at Mi Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. Also, anyone here from the Seattle area?
