    Ok, Apple1, if you don't want to decrease your food.. and are just aiming for eating everything during an 8 hour window.. I don't see how that's a problem. It's hitting the goals that's important to me. I don't care what time you eat.
    I guess I hear "fasting", and it sounds like going a day without food, which we don't want to do during the first 9 months or a year.
    As for calorie consumption.. The 90+ year old Okinawans of Japan are eating around 1100 calories a day, and maintaining well on that... but they are also well under 5 feet tall and ninety!
    Maintenance for one person will be fasting for another. While you are losing weight, keep your calories down. When you stop losing for at least 6-8 weeks, then you know your calories and metabolism have aligned. Was it because of calorie creep, or is that your new normal at a reduced calorie load?
    Since I haven't reached maintenance, myself, most of these ideas are conjecture. My hope is the basic metabolic needs will stay up at least to 1600 calories, so there has to be a distinct uptick in consumption to GET THE WEIGHT LOSS TO STOP. This means that you reach goal without any extra special dieting plan, and when there, you increase how much you are eating until you stop losing and/or start regaining. There should be a sweet spot someplace. Stick around your sweet spot, and like Jess said, when the scale gets a bit stubborn, then bring in some of these fasting techniques.
    But if the fasting technique is just telling you when to eat, and not how much.. then that could be undertaken any time as long as it doesn't interfere with reaching nutrition goals.

    I can understand the idea of fasting when you hit maintenance... but during the first year postop, we are in a constant fasting state. We are already walking the razor's edge r.e. malnutrition. Hardly a day passes I don't see someone report low levels of this or that (protein, Iron, etc.).
    Let the surgery do its thing, and if you get to the point where the scale doesn't move for 2 months, but you have more fat to lose.. then by all means, shake 'er up!

    After reading all the replies, I AM PUMPED! Had a talk with my elder brother who also had the sleeve done and he didn't have too much excess skin either. He worked his ass off in the gym. That's my plan as well.
    I get on the Optifast diet from tomorrow. I'm ready for this!

    Here is my opinion I was 398 the day of surgery April 6 today I’m around 270. I have loose skin especially my back. I have to re adjust when I lay down. But what I tell people. Would you rather be fat and die younger or have extra skin and live longer

    I used to love Pasta but I don't think I care if I ever eat it again. It's so much work to avoid carbs and eat enough Protein that the idea of eating a pile of carbs with zero protein... not for me.
    Are you all having foods you used to love but don't think you want anymore?

    I've been stalled for at least two weeks now and I just keep telling myself it's not possible that I won't lose weight again--I KNOW what my calorie totals are and the loss has to start again eventually. But boy, doesn't it suck when you get on the scale day after day and nothing has changed?

    i was banded in 2007 lost 85# unfortunately this procedure was new for the dr as well as myself. there was no nutrition classes or any coordinator to help. i pretty much got letters from all different specialists to recommend the surgery and medicaid approved it. there was one visit after surgery from the hospital nutritionist. pretty much i lived off Soups and any other food i would end up throwing up. this was a daily occurrence of food getting stuck. when i got to the point that i couldnt even swallow my saliva i realized i was over restricted and my stomach was bulged over the band. got it happily removed in 2010 and was supposed to have it revised to the gastric bypass. it took the surgeon over 2 hours to remove the band that normally takes 20 min. so he cancelled the bypass. kinda glad wasnt the right time in my life for that. so 2017 was my year and got the sleeve!!!!been happy since

    I was swimming for exercise but since the weather‘s cooled off I haven’t done that in about two weeks. I guess I need to find a new form of exercise that I enjoy.
    I pretty much eat whatever I want- except sweets. I do have carbs, which I know a lot of you don’t. But I enjoy piece of toast in the morning. And if I want something with carbs for dinner I’ll have it. I’m full after about 4-5 bites. So my struggle is if I do eat the carbs then I don’t get the protein- then I can’t b***h if I don’t lose any weight. So every day for the past two weeks I’ve tried to have at least one Protein Shake. And that seems to help.
    The weight has come off slower than I thought but I can’t complain. I haven’t been under 300 in about 15 years. So it feel pretty good :-)

    Congrats to everyone on their progress.
    just left the doctor!! 2.5 months out, down 68 lbs and they said I'm doing good!!! Now to work on getting more movement and drinking more Water. 👍🏻😄

    Today is 10 weeks post op....I'm losing slowly and hitting lots of stalls....I know I'm having some progress because my clothes are looser...my coworkers say things complimentary but I feel it's obligatory or just to be nice...I'm down 65#

    Early on into the sleeve I had wished i went for the bypass, but now i know i did the right thing! I almost went for the band, but my surgeon said against it, I am glad i went with the sleeve as i realise i need more than the band to help fix my problems hehe , wow 85lbs is soo amazing!
