I, too, am a rule follower. Your wife is taking a serious risk eating unauthorized foods that maybe detremential to her health!! If she's already doing her own thing, this surgery will not be successful in helping her lose the weight. This is only a tool to give us a jumpstart. If she doesn't follow the rules, she will be back where she started.

I pray she gets it together. Also, I recommend YOU call the doctor to get "real" medical advice. We are here only to support each other. We cannot help with your wife's food addictions or whatever issues causing her to take such a big risk.

    GOD BLESS & GOOD LUCK.

Thank you! I just wanted a better life for myself and knew I couldn't do it alone. I'll just give it to God. He knows what to do with it, and maybe I need a thicker skin!

I'm going to be honest: some of the language in this article is concerning to me. For me, one of the biggest issues was trust. Having someone that looked like you sitting across from me, my immediate reaction would have been, "How would she have any clue what I've been through, what I'm dealing with, what it's like to be 320lbs." It would be hard for me to trust you, and the first thing I would do is ask if you've ever been in my shoes.

Then, when I read something like, "a barrage of excuses..." that language doesn't read as compassionate to me. Add to that the subject header of this entire thread and it feels more like mockery than someone that I would want to extend my trust to, and reach out for the tools to deal with something so deeply personal and often times mortifying.

I'm sorry that I can't just go with the crowd on this one, but this left a taste in my mouth worse than Cheetos and chicken...

Food cravings can derail your weight loss efforts. The next time a craving hits, try thinking about your smaller stomach as a set of training wheels instead of a set of restrictive rules.

In the forum, I've seen a lot of concern about cheating on the pre-op diet and eating certain foods too soon after surgery. I understand these temptations. (Oh, boy, do I understand.) It is natural to crave what we can't have. Foods like pizza and Pasta suddenly seem preternaturally delicious. If we give in and eat something that's not on our diet plan, we react with guilt and shame--and we usually realize that pizza is not as awesome as we remembered.
Unfortunately, cravings come back again and again, promising a taste explosion. If we don't learn to resist most of these cravings, we can derail our weight loss efforts.
The next time a craving hits, try thinking about your smaller stomach as a set of training wheels instead of a set of restrictive rules. Your current body--your bicycle--is functional, but you have your heart set on that sleek racing model or muscular mountain bike. You yearn to zip down the street or take that rugged path through the forest. Before you can master the better bicycle, though, you have to learn to balance on the one you have--under all road and trail conditions. You have to be ready for the challenges ahead.
Training wheels are boring, but they help us avoid the worst of the bumps and bruises that can happen when we lose our balance and fall off the bike. We can still slip up and take a spill, but it's likely to be much less painful than if we were careening down a street unchecked, with no extra wheels to keep us upright.
Our smaller stomach does the same thing for us: it helps us maintain our balance while we're learning to nourish our bodies again. Before surgery, most of us had the freedom to eat a large variety and amount of food. We lost our balance repeatedly, and we paid for it with increased weight and medical problems. We injured our body--and mind--over and over.
We've already invested a lot of resources in our weight loss surgery, and we have a limited amount of time to make use of these training wheels. If we take the extra time and effort to learn the fine art of balance, we will be better prepared to handle the freedom that comes with the new, better models of our bodies. The excitement and adventures waiting for us down the road are worth a little boredom with the training wheels now.

Congrats mine is June 21st, getting excited. The other day I dreamed I was in the hospital and didn't have much pain and I can remember wanting to get out of there the very next day. I believe my dreams because I've had precursor dreams before. So I'm pretty sure that the only real pain is gonna be the first day.

@kowgurl1988 Oh hon, hated having to read through the thread. There will always be someone who fights to contradict God's goodness. I don't know why he/she would argue about a being they don't believe is there. ???? It just doesn't make sense.
But I do believe God will make the way for you. If you believe without a doubt, you are in His will, He's got his plans laid out for you already. Keep trusting in Him and I will trust that you will have an awesome testimony to share of how this all went too. 😉

I cringe every time I see a response from you...if God gives her comfort then so be it. You may not believe in God but don't take away from those that do. I really pray that God humbles you to be nicer and compassionate to others.

Yes, lots of excitement with you SHOUTING IT VIA TEXT!!! Seriously though, glad to hear it, and if you follow the plan, you will do wonderful! My best advice is to lose as much weight as possible before the surgery. It will help immensely.

It's pretty amusing that you are triggered endlessly........'Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
    If that's all there is…'

@PatientEleventyBillion you think you are helping, but you come off as mannerless and uncouth. And therefore negate any advice you give.
And enough with the snowflake crap already - no one wants to hear it. And I am not one, so don't retort back on that.
