Here is a wish that you get better much quicker than you anticipate! To answer your question about cancellation, it would most likely be determined during your pre-op hospital visit. They will run a bunch of tests to determine if it is safe for surgery.

So creeping up on the 3 months post - op milestone and whilst I love being this weight instead of my old weight I am not sure I ever got this quick and rapid weight loss that I was warned about that would be all too obvious to people. I just went into my office nearly 70 lbs lighter then when they last saw me over 6 months over .. not a word was mentioned !!! So instead I like to concentrate on some of the NSV's I set myself before surgery which makes my happy. What makes you happy about where you are on your journey ?
    The #'s My date 4/3/2017
    HW - 275
    SW - 245
    CW - 208
Dress size was 20 or 2/3X now 14 or XL/L
Shopping all the fab choices of flattering clothing in the regular sizes (bank account does not love this) right at the front of the shop rather than in a department tucked away out of sight sometimes behind the homewares ! Flying, I FITTED I FITTED !!! into the airline seat, I didn't spill out over or under the armrest, the belt did up with room to spare, the tray table came all the way down and didn't rest of my stomach and I didn't feel nervous sitting down next to the person in the seat next to me. I even had a business class seat for one leg and quite happily lead down in the seat without feeling wedged in. I have cleaned out my entire wardrobe and filling it a new I can fit into a bath towel covering all that should be covered. I swing a golf club without my body getting in the way and can bend down and pick the ball out of the hole, and its so nice to do it in cute regular sized golf outfits Tied my shoe laces just by bending down normally I am not horrified when I see a side profile of myself (still a WIP) I like seeing face photos of me online all the chubbiness has gone I have not seen any full body shots yet I crossed my legs, I didn't even realize I was doing it but I looked down and there I was sat chilled out on the sofa at work with my legs crossed I am now obese level 1 instead of morbidly obese, again still a work in progress but its nice to remove the word morbidly from anything related to yourself. I am sure there are many more but I just went down my list of goals I created in the waiting room for surgary and already ticked off most of them and some I just don't know yet as I have not tried. So when I get frustrated at the scales I look at at this and realize that yep I have come a long way.

My surgery (gastric bypass)is July 17. Time flies& so the countdown begins....For 7 months I have been researching & educating myself outside of the nutrition class on gastric bypass. I have been on many sites&seen many you tube videos & this forum and a couple others and really got a wide range of what to expect & my responsibilities. You learn a lot by the good hearts of others who have posted the details of what they have endured, conquered, struggled with& pros & cons. This forum is a blessing. It is so helpful. Its always a good thing to get as much education in such an important decision as this. So,all the July surgeries good luck to you all.. July is around the corner

I also had BCBS and had to do 6 months of weight loss. It ended up being a gift. I researched everything about the surgery, learned the post op nutrition and started a workout regimen. I only lost 10 lbs BUT it has made my post op experience SO much stronger. If you don't change your habits you won't be successful.

My advice is to get started now. I, too have BCBS (Anthem of Louisiana), and had to do the six month diet program. I decided from the very beginning that I was ready to make a change and I followed through. I lost 99 pounds during that six months (from 397 to 298 on surgery day). I used that time to re-define my relationship with food, conquer my food demons, and set myself on a course to have long-term success post-op. I have lost an additional 104 pounds since my surgery last September 28, and every day, I add 99 pounds to my current weight and think to myself if I hadn't done all of that pre-op work, I would weigh xxx pounds today. Also, all of the frustrations of post-op life (stalls, discomfort, food stages, etc.) were so much easier to deal with having already taken off half of the weight before the surgery.
The pre-op diet program was the best thing that ever happened to me. Too many people act as though the sleeve is some magic pill that will do all the work for them. That is a fallacy. In my journey, the sleeve is merely a supporting player. I am the star and I wouldn't be here without that six month experience.
    Good luck!

I agree with the Optifast diet recommendation. The goal here is to shave those pounds off, not to worry about the lifelong healthy eating plan. There is time to work on that plan later.
My husband is also living with debilitating back pain. But diet is MUCH more important to weight loss than exercise.
Metformin helps lose weight, insulin helps gain weight. That explains your experience.
Because you are on insulin, it is really important to manage the diet/insulin dosage closely. If you go on Optifast suddenly, without modifying your insulin dosage, you will have low blood sugar attacks.
See if you can find someone to help you work into the diet while tapering down the meds.
Do you have family or friends that can help you? (Do shopping, be cheerleaders, etc...)
    You can do this!

I know many of the high BMI patients through our program, in order to get down to a surgery-safe weight, will go on a medically supervised diet called Optifast. They also are prescribed Saxenda injections. The goal of these programs isn't the "lifelong changes to diet and exercise" piece that they'll ultimately have to incorporate eventually, but straight up "lose as much weight as possible as fast as possible so you can get onto that surgery table safely and continue treatment".
Maybe ask about either of those options? A high BMI puts you at high surgical risk, but it hardly seems a fair alternative to just say "welp either magically lose 90 pounds or don't bother" without any of the comprehensive support you need to HELP you lose those 90 lbs. You need this, you know you need this, you DESERVE this chance... now just to find you a program that is willing to help you get there in a safe and realistic way.
Does your insurance cover exercise therapists or physio? With your pain levels I do NOT blame you for not exercising, and honestly wouldn't recommend you just jump out and "do it anyway" even if you thought you could. It sounds to me like having a professional guide you with appropriate movement that will not further injure your body would be the best bet.
Some bariatric programs are literally just throw you into surgery sink or swim, but other programs are more holistic in their approach. I know ours hooks people up with classes, with a psychologist and therapy, a registered dietician, an exercise therapist, a social worker if need be... Surgery for many people really needs to be one aspect of care, not the be all and end all. It's just a matter of finding a clinic that provides that level of care.

My surgery is 6/21 and I got my scripts prior to this. I'm going to be on Lovenox for 3 weeks post op due to having blood clots in my lungs a couple years ago. I will also have Tylenol #3 liquid, Zofran, and Prilosec. I also have to take Vitamins and supplements.< br>

Wow, that is a lot of meds. I thought I had it bad taking 2000mg metformin and 1.2ml Victoza. I probably should have been on insulin, but I am glad I got the surgery instead!!

I hope you are able to lose some if not all of those medications!
