    April 26th is coming quickly

I'm trying to do chores this weekend, to get my household in order before Tuesday. Lots of laundry! I'm hoping to have things in good order to make it easier on my husband. We have a 9 year old son, so husband will have to be on his own with him for a few days. They are used to being a bit spoiled by me..... They will muddle through though. How long of a hospital stay are you anticipating? My team said they generally release people on Friday. I live near Columbus, Ohio. How about you? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    April 26th is coming quickly

I have the same date as well! Today is my last day at work until after the surgery (took a vacation day on Monday to get things in order at home). I am definitely starting to be nervous, but I know that it will be worth it in the end. I'm on Day 7 of my liquid Protein diet....and after Day 3, it got must easier to handle. I've found that being able to sip a cup of broth in the evening is enough of a 'treat' to get me through the day! After all the sweet from the shakes and fruit, I crave something salty...and broth fits the bill! I've lost about 8 pounds so far on the pre-op diet, so it must be working! Best of luck to you on your surgery! We will do great!

    Sugar addict

I understand where you are coming from. For me, I cannot have any sugar without it triggering more sugar. If I eat a piece of chocolate, it makes me want to eat more. It isn't easy, but the best way for me to deal with it is to have none. I can't do sugar in moderation. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Day 5 of pre-op and I miss food.

Yeah! A fellow librarian! Clear liquids only? That would be tough! I have been having a cup of broth at night--need something savory after the sweet of the Protein shakes. Tried Swanson flavor infused broth in Mexican tortilla flavor tonight. Delicious! I tried the Thai Ginger before and didn't care for it, so I was excited to really like this one. Day 5 of pre-op and I miss food.

Feeling better today. Was just in a funk last night. Day six is going well! Only four more days until my surgery! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Day 5 of pre-op and I miss food.

Thank you for the good wishes. I'm having a bit of a pity party tonight, I guess. I am thankful to be approved. It was about a ten month process for me. Part of me can't believe my surgery date is really almost here. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  7. Hi there! I have not had my surgery yet, but have lost 40 pounds since June, with the help of my bariatric doctor. I'm finding that many of my clothes are too big. I'm using thrift stores and clearance sales to pick up some work clothes that fit, and I've had some wonderful co-workers give me some clothes in my new size. What I'm not sure about is what to do about my old clothes. I have lost weight before, but have never gotten rid of my bigger sized clothes. Now that I'm planning on having gastric bypass surgery in January, it really seems silly to keep them. I've considered selling them to a cosignment shop where I live to get some credit to purchase smaller sizes. I'm wondering what others who have gone down several sizes have done. Thanks for the input!

    Sleep Apnea? :/

My dr had me wear a pulse oxymeter overnight to see if a sleep study was needed. Unfortunately, the data from the pulse ox was enough for the dr said I definitely have mild sleep apnea. He wants me to have the full blown sleep study done so that we can determine just how bad it is and if I need to have a CPAP machine before surgery. I"m hoping I don't, but we'll see.
  9. I think that I will probably have my surgery in January, but I'm not scheduled yet. I've completed all of the requirements of my program (nutrition classes and counseling) and my insurance requirements (six month medically supervised diet), except for a sleep study. As soon as I get the sleep study done, they will be able to appy for insurance authorization and schedule. I'm thinking mine will be later in January, but I'll have to wait and see.
