  1. This frightens me because I have a lap band and now I am intolerant to it 10 years later , so I am in the process of getting a revision. I have pretty severe acid reflux & heart burn, to the point that I have to get an endoscopy next week to make sure I don't have erosion. I was wanting to get the sleeve but after reading all the stories about severe reflux, it makes me want to run for the hill! I have been so miserable with acid reflux that I can barely drink water without getting it! My problem is that my bmi is 35, I'm 5'4 and 207 pounds. My surgeon seemed to push me towards the sleeve because my bmi but I would rather get bypass if it will be better for this wretched reflux. What should I do? Sleeve or bypass?

    Preop diet weight loss

Hi, I was wondering if any of you have lost a significant amount of weight on the pre op liquid diet? I had my lapband surgery several years ago so I don't remember if I did or not. I have recently began following the pre op liquid diet with my friend because she is getting the sleeve in a couple weeks, plus it seems to be helping with my horrible acid reflux. If it could get me back on track and help jump start my weight loss, that would be terrific! Thanks!

Is it possible to lose too much?

I was almost to my goal weight, I was at my lowest weight last year of 165 but I started gaining a little weight because I had horrible heartburn so I was drinking a lot of milk and milkshakes ???? In September I weighed 175, and then I shot up to 203 from then until now. That's almost 30 pounds in a little over 2 months!!!!! I've Also been battling depression but I seriously can't control my appetite anymore! I used to be able to distract myself if I felt the urge to snack for no reason but not lately. Then I went in to my bariatric doctor to get a little fluid out because of the heart burn and it's gotten worse. I don't know how much more weight I've gained. I'm afraid to weigh myself.

Is it possible to lose too much?

I just got finished reading something about that! I wonder why that is? It probably does have something to do with making poor nutrition choices, but even with the sleeve being a restrictive procedure, you have no choice but to only eat a certain amount of food, right? Because your stomach only holds so much? With mine, since I am banded, if I drink with my meal, it totally defeats the purpose of my band and I can end up eating a pretty normal portion. Is it similar with the sleeve? As in drinking and eating together?
  5. I am curious if someone gets a band to sleeve revision, if it's possible if the can end up losing too much weight? Or if they may have problems stopping their weight loss once they get to their goal?

    Post op diet?

I go back to my doctor on the 28th so I am going to ask him a lot of questions this time and ask him the severity of my issue. I hope I don't have anything majorly wrong and that I can do that because surgery freaks me out.

    Enlarged pouch & small slip

Mine is a 4cc band as well. I was banded in 2007. I was surprised that they did a fill too. He took 1 cc out a month ago, I gained weight, then had the upper gi and he told me all of that, but since he didn't seem worried I didn't think it was anything, and he put .5cc back in it. I am freaking out now. I am going to self pay for another consultation with another doctor because I am soooo scared that something like that will happen to me ☹

    Emotional Eating...

I know this thread is a little older but the information that everyone provided on here is extremely helpful!! Thank you!!! I am a food addict .. I am an emotional eater.. It is very hard to resist temptation sometimes, especially during colder months. Some of the posts on this thread have given me some new ideas and insight. ????????????

    Enlarged pouch & small slip

Oh no!!! I'm glad you are okay now! I am so afraid it is headed towards something horrible. The bad part is... That was my bariatric Doctor
  10. I have recently been told by my doctor after an upper gi that I have an asymmetrical pouch and a small slip. He showed me an example, which when I googled it later, it looks just like pouch dilation. Wouldn't this qualify for a revision? I should have asked more questions but it didn't sink in until I started reading posts on here. I didn't think I had much to worry about because the doctor seemed like it wasn't a big deal. He said we would "keep an eye on it" and if we get to the point it gets worse then he would recommend the sleeve. I have been living uncomfortably the past few years with horrible heartburn, port pain, waking up choking on acid, vomiting, some days I can eat a lot some days I get stuck and vomit.. And now weight gain. I feel so fat and like a failure. I have gained so much weight in the last few months. My dad told me that I have "really packed on the pounds!" And I need to get my "belly tightened". I feel like at any moment I am going to split my pants. I just bought a bunch of new clothes too last year for winter and they are so small compared to how big I am now that I literally sat in my closet and cried. I had an adjustment at my last appointment, even though he said I have what is considered a small slip and that my pouch is enlarged, but I don't feel any restriction. My band was previously too tight and I suffered thru it for two years thinking it was normal and my husband lost his job so we lost our insurance. Now we have Medicaid and although they cover visits to the doctor, I don't know if they cover the revision surgery. I am also scared to death of surgery because I went to the complication forum and read a few horror stories. ????????☹ that really scared the heck out of me!! ️My doctor also said my bmi may not be high enough but I'm 5'4 and weigh 203 pounds...and I think I'm still gaining. This time last year I was 165. What should I do?!?! I called another bariatric doctor but my family doctor won't write me another referral. Help!!?
  11. I was wondering that since Medicaid/Obamacare covers the initial bariatric procedure if anybody knows if they cover the revision surgery?
  12. Wow great job!!!! That is amazing!!! Stories like yours give me hope! I have had my band for 9 years and I have been dealing with horrible acid reflux for the past two and a half years, and now I have found I have a small slip and it may need a revision. I'm so terrified of surgery, I'm so afraid I won't wake up or I'll have a horror story ( I read the complication forum first ????) like a leak or I won't be able to stop losing weight etc. I am glad I read your post! It has eased my mind a little in case I do have to have my band revised to the sleeve
  13. I have had mine for 9 years and have had a lot of pain ( mainly my fault because I don't chew enough), extreme acid reflux and now my doctor says I have a "small slip". I also mysteriously developed acute kidney failure in June and I am wondering if the lapband contributed to it somehow. I read somewhere about it being linked to renal failure but I can't remember what it said because it was awhile back. Sign me up!

    Phentabz

They have ingredients on the side of the bottle but they are foreign to me lol. I found something about it on google that said they were banned from Australia.. So if a whole country banned them, then they must be pretty bad. I was on adhd medication for the past 9 years and I was oblivious to the fact that they were prescribed speed and they can cause damage to your heart. When I found that out, I immediately quit taking them and had awful withdrawals!! Never again will I take anything that strong again! I am going to give this bottle back! lol
