  1. Everything stinks like strong garlic and onions? Why is that? Smells are so strong... I can't tolerate it, and usually I looove cooking with sautéed onions, mushrooms, garlic and green peppers. It all started when I came home Thursday evening around 7pm.. surgery was Wednesday at 10am... my husband had made sauce, Pasta, meatballs and garlic cheese bread for he and the kiddos Thursday before they picked me up. I damn near died when I walked in the house. Zofran saved my life that night. I had to air the whole house out... and since, I can smell garlic and onions in everything and my Piss and sweat still smell like strong penicillin... ???????????? Eating everything...

I would slow down, and start working on my relationship with food, Now!! As much as this journey is physical, the mental part will sneak up on you and it can be hard to deal with. My doctor advised against having a food funeral.. she said why? What is the point? That mentality is why we are here today. Your surgery is a tool that you have to physically and mentally work with. It isn't a cure all on its own. I started enforcing new lifestyle changes immediately. I started meal prepping... walking on my treadmill 3-4 x a week. Building my endurance and stamania.. I stopped drinking 30 minutes before meals and 30 after.. I started making better food choices if I had to eat out.. chewing my food to applesauce consistency... I took this gift very seriously up until I was sleeved this past wendesday.. and even worked harder on myself during the 2 week pre op diet. I would reconsider your choices leading up to surgery. I've seen many struggle after surgery because they didn't think to start enforcing the lifestyle changes prior to surgery. And you can still eat and drink whatever you want, in moderation. One must always be mindful of their eating or you will fail. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  5. I'm 4 days post op... no head hungry... no cravings or tummy pains.. just a bit thirsty. I heard all that tummy rumbling is normal.. I find it interesting because my tummy never did normal things before. I had Gerd and gastritis. So this is a change. And I love it!!! Also no BM either. Trying milk of magnesium again, tonight!!! 6. I was sleeved Wednesday, and my gas didn't get intense until I came home Thursday... walking, hot showers, warming blanket, side to side sleeping and gas x strips have been doing the trick. I've never in my life wanted to pass gas as much as I have these last 2 days. It is like major intestinal relief.. Now if only I could have a BM. Life would be great! ???????? WLS and hypothyroid, PCOS meds

I have hypothyroidism and Graves disease. I was just sleeved on 3/16/16. Haven't been on the scale yet... but I also hope I am as successful as you other ladies with a fast, yet steady loss. Going into surgery, my pre op blood work put my thyroid in normal range. I am praying as the weight goes down, my levothyroxin (synthyroid) dose will get less. March Surgery!

Had surgery on Wednesday... went home Thursday around 6pm... passed the swallow test and got all my liquids in. Passed some gas last night and this morning and it was the best feeling. My tummy makes a lot of noise, lol. I can hear Fluid take its course... no BM, yet! Might be taking some milk of magnesium tonight before bed. No hungry, no cravings. 9. I have hbp... went in at 165/93... stayed that way before during and after surgery on 3/16... before discharge yesterday, and my med I went down to 127/70. If you can make it to Walgreens or Walmart to check it, I would. Feel your resting pluse... you can usually feel your body running hotter than normal. Contact your pcp... not much bariactric clinic can do with underlying health issues, but direct you to your pcp... hence why most pcps are responsible for pre op testing and screening for underlying health issues. 10. Are we allowed to wrap our tummy's after surgery? I always used a binder after my pregnancies... it helped everything calm back down, and settle nicely. Not certain if we can after VSG with all the incisions???? Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal

    Hyperthyroidism..

I too suffer from Hypothyroid and Graves disease. I had iodine radiation at the age of 16. I was hyperthyroid, heart palpations, rapid weightloss, bad mood swings, couldn't concentrate in school, developing a goiter and having thyroid storm episodes... my parents decoded we'd do the iodine treatment. Fast forward to present time, married with 4 children. I've had successful weightloss journeys in the past, 75lbs-80lbs with my first 3 children... however after my 4th in 2014, my body hasn't bounced back like before. My doctor believes my time has come, and my thyroid is dead. Now I am solely depended on synthroid... morbidly obese and seeking the gastric sleeve.
  23. You got this... please update when you can and well wishes on a safe and speedy recovery.
