I have only told a few people. When I'm around the people I haven't told, I just tell that that I;m not very hungry because I had a late lunch, etc.,
As far as restaurants go, sometimes my husband and I order one entree, and I just get a couple ounces of the meat. We've also ordered separate meals, and I just have them box up the leftovers for me. (I cut off the portion that I'm going to eat so that I don't accidentally overdo it!

I stalled in my 4th week. I had lost 22 pounds the first 3 weeks and only a couple last week. But, the scale is starting to move again in week 3. I posted about this problem too, and several of the vets said that a stall is normal. Don't give up!

Yes, it is normal.

Thank you! I read your "Embrace the Stall" post. Just what I needed to hear!

I lost about a pound a day for the first three weeks, now I've only lost 3 pounds week 4. What happened? Is this normal? Will the weight loss pick back up?

Common sense is important in anything we do! Fortunately, I live out in a rural area, so when I'm walking I'm looking at nature - not my phone. The app makes your phone vibrate when Pokemon are near, so that's the only time you have to look at your phone. I've only tried it a few times. It's much too hot where I live to be out walking during the day!

Thanks. I don't have any of those other symptoms and only experience the discomfort when swallowing (sometimes). I'm wondering if it could just be that the incisions are still sensitive. I wonder how long it takes for the new stomach to totally heal from the surgery.

Keep us posted!

Awesome! Doesn't it feel good to get healthier!

I definitely think you need to get someone there with you, at least for a couple of days. I felt okay when I got home and I could have taken care of myself. But, it sure was nice to have someone checking up on me... making sure I was drinking and getting my Protein in.

I'm 4 weeks post op and on the soft/pureed food stage.
Sometimes when I swallow food I have an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. It almost feels like a tightening. Hard to explain. It happens when I take my first bite of food, so I don't think it's the feeling some get when full. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I will ask my surgeon about this during my next appointment but that's still a couple of weeks away.

Thanks for posting this! I have been wondering what Onederland is all about!

It must be very difficult for loved ones to be so negative and critical and mean! I'm sorry you've had to endure this. Anyone who talks like this to people is not to be listened to. I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. I was close to my grandmother too. It's very difficult to lose someone that you are so close to. Try to forget all the awful things your grandfather has said and focus on the positive things in your life!

Awesome! It is exciting!

Well, I decided to try it this evening. Walked right out my back door and found a pokemon there! Who would have thought? Went on a short walk and found another one. So, I'm in my 50s and having fun playing with Pokemon. I never would have thought it! I think it will make exercising more fun!

Somebody posted something about Pokemon GO somewhere on this website. I read about it, and while I'm not "into" Pokemon, it does look like an entertaining way to get some exercise. I'm just wondering if I would be able to play this game without knowing anything about the Pokemon characters.

I hope this can be easily resolved with some medication.

Yeah. I don't care for the strawberries & creme either. I bought a 4 pack from Wal Mart after reading a previous post about the new flavors, but YUCK! I drank one but I had to force myself, and I just didn't feel very good after drinking it. I won't drink any more. I will stick with the Inspire Protein powder. I like the dutch chocolate and Peanut Butter flavors. They are good with skim milk, and if I add a little ice it's almost like drinking a milk shake!

I went in thinking that I wanted the sleeve, but ultimately decided on the RNY. The main reason I decided on the RNY is because I decided that I needed my body to help me control my "sweet tooth"! I also thought about how the RNY is somewhat reversible if needed, but the sleeve it not reversible as they actually remove part of your stomach.

I hate that your surgeon's office is not as helpful as they should be! If you google "post operative diet for bariatric surgery" you will find plans from mayo Clinic and other prestigious hospitals. Maybe one of these will have a little more detail for you.

I'm not sure about your pre-op workshop. I did have a "workshop" type thing but it was with the nutritionist to review the eating plan, Vitamins, etc., It was nothing to be worried about. Just an informative session.

@@esskay77 Thank you! Yeah, I guess I just tried to stress myself about something that wasn't necessary! And, yes.. Now I know that I can handle the social situations!

I'm only a month ahead of you. I had my bypass June 20th. I'll be glad to chat and share my experiences if that will help!

Well, I'm back from the luncheon and I think I did fine. Thanks to all of you! Your variety of suggestions was very helpful! I decided not to eat before I went. They had fried chicken, of course! (That's what we eat in the south!!) I put a chicken leg on my plate, one spoon of potato salad, and one spoon of macaroni and cheese. BUT, I didn't eat any of the potato salad or macaroni and cheese which are two of my faves! I just put them on my plate so it wouldn't look so empty. I pulled the skin off of the chicken leg and had a few bites of the chicken and chewed very well. Nobody seemed to noticed that I didn't eat much, so I was relieved. But, everybody kept trying to get me to have some dessert. I told them I was too full and that I might have some in a bit, but I never did. All in all, I'm proud of myself! Especially for avoiding the deserts!!! It's been about two hours ago, so I think my stomach is going to be okay with that little bit of meat that I ate.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!
