    Post-Op Exercise Plans?

Haha thanks for writing back tapping mom. I wear a knee brace also - more like a strap. It helps stabilize things. The dancy workouts are the fun ones. What do you think of CIZE? It looks really good - my dvd will be here Friday but my surgery is the following Monday so I won't be able to try it out until after I'm cleared. I get a good cardio workout with Cize and Shaun T is a great instructor. I haven't been quite up to doing it yet post-op (I'm about 6 weeks), but I'm hoping to this week. It definitely kicks my butt! That's awesome! Yeah he's really good! I actually just found a free sneak peak to one of the workouts for streaming on beachbody.com so I'm going to try it this evening. It looks fun. And yeah he is a great instructor - I have hip hop abs and I love it. Yay for being 6 weeks out! I kind of wish I could fast fwd that far ahead.

Anyone else with a Feb 1st date?

Welcome oh so sleeved! Congratulations! It's almost here! I don't have anymore appointments - they said I would have a phone appointment if they needed to discuss my labs but got an email saying there was nothing to discuss! My husband will place her in my arms but I just know she's going to look at me and sign for me to pick her up - she does it all the time. I don't let her walk in public yet because she'll either sit on the ground and look for something to put in her mouth or run off really fast lol. I wonder why our docs aren't making us do a pre-op diet. I know each is different. I kinda like being responsible for what I do before surgery.

    Post-Op Exercise Plans?

Hi inner surfer girl! Thanks for the good wishes! I have a pool at my gym and I've only taken advantage of it maybe twice. I've heard of the benefits so I'll definitely try it out more. I know it's supposed to be a good total body workout.

    Post-Op Exercise Plans?

Thanks for responding!!! Yeah I can see - my fitness post gets no love! Lol! It's all good! Thanks for writing though! Wow - a marathoner! That's great! You must be so proud each time you cross a finish line!!! That's really impressive! I've tried C25K a couple of times but always stopped the first week. I think I might try it again and push through. It would be nice to run a 5K. The color run is in August so maybe I'll sign up for that for motivation.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

Oh! Gotcha! Makes sense that you'll be staying longer! In that case, I really think they will give them to you as vitamins are very important post op. Keep us posted! Coffee was hard but I had started cutting back in November - that's how much time I needed. Now I'm ok - it's just head cravings. On top of that, my adhd prescription helps out with focus and energy... The diet has been hard a little though. I kept thinking of things I "forgot" to eat lol but I finally told myself that these things will be there once I reach goal and for now I just write them down on a list which really helps!

Anyone else with a Feb 1st date?

Feb 1st is taking its sweet little time!!! Sheesh! Feeling super excited, a little anxious, 3% worried about going under, and very impatient. Can't wait to get on the other side of this life changing surgery!

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

Yep. For my cSection I was too preoccupied to do anything but stare at my daughter but I remember my husband complaining about the outlets being inconvenient.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

They'll probably give you your vitamins while you're there, no? I hope they do bc I'll be out of it and probably won't remember to take them on my own. How many days are you expecting to be in the hospital? I'm staying one night of there aren't any complications. Got my Protein today!!! Two cases of protein from costco and I ordered some other kinds online just to try. Time is creeping by! The liquid diet is making me so tired and it feels like it's taking so long. One thing that helped speed today up is that I started watching a British show about WLS in YouTube - the Fat Doctor - and that has been distracting and interesting! So excited for us!!! These next 8 days need to hurry up!!!!

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

My daughter is 15 months old so she's eating mostly oatmeal, white rice with butter, sausage, yogurt and applesauce. Not much cooking. Plus my husband fends for himself. He's a great cook - most firefighters are lol so he's holding it down on that end. Maybe prep some stuff that is easy to cook. Do you have a crock pot? If you can put a bunch of ingredients in the crock pot you might be able to make great meals without much food handling. There are so many quick crock pot recipes that you can google - I would probably be doing that if I had to cook full meals.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

I am, Karak2007! We go in at 5am, wait for 3 hours and my surgery is scheduled for 8am! I spent last week making bone broth out of chicken bones and froze them in aluminum muffin holders, with plastic wrap on top so I could just pop one out when needed. I already have the chew-able Vitamins. What do people mean by having an extension cord ready? You mean for the phone? Did your Dr.s tell you to bring your own vitamins for the hospital stay? I'm so glad to be able to read what you all are doing to prepare. I've been dieting the last 7 days or so, in ketosis for sure, very lethargic right now. Drinking lots of Water and getting my house in order. I'm the girl having a hard time getting off caffeine with all I have to do. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Hi Amelie! Welcome to the 2/1 club lol! Yep - I think people are taking an extension cord for their phones. A lot of times the outlets are in pretty weird places so it helps to take yours. I have a super long iPhone cord that my tech-obsessed husband got me lol - like really long - so I'm good on that end. As far as vitamins go, it was in my weight loss folder packet thingy that my surgeon gave me so I bought them. He said a Multivitamin, b12 and some other stuff. I'm hoping for the day I'm in the hospital that they provide them. Welcome again!!!

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

Right there with ya! I packed several days ago and can't wait for the next few days to go by - Feb. 1st can't get here fast enough!!! I got a cute little pill case to hold 3 days worth of vitamins etc. My Multivitamins actually contain biotin for hair, nails and skin plus Vitamin D etc so I'm hoping that helps with hair loss. I also got sublingual Vitamin B. The big thing to remember is Protein. Protein is the building block mainly used by our bodies to create, repair and strengthen things. Get your protein in and the hair loss, if any, should be minimal. Only thing left on my list to get is my protein. Going to costco to get a case of liquid pure protein today. I love the chocolate. Then I'll place an online order for the unjury samples. Pretty sure I won't need those till later but I'll have them shipped this week.

Why ask for insurance info if self pay?

Oh but you said it was part of the package - hmm, idk. Hopefully if they tried to get paid twice you'd be notified.

Why ask for insurance info if self pay?

In order to get my surgery on the books before insurance authorized I said I would self-pay if I had to so to schedule me right away. I knew it would be approved. She sent me the self-pay info and it broke down all the bills but also stated "these follow up appointments will be billed to your insurance". So maybe that's a thing? Idk. I thought it would all be self pay even follow up appointments but that wasn't the case. Maybe that's what's happening here.

    Debbie Downers...

Ask her why she feels the need to be negative? It's not very "friend-like". I would call her out. I would tell her that everyone is different and you do not plan on gaining your weight back. Bad things do happen but it's a hard process. Maybe even emphasize that clearly it's not an easy way to lose weight especially when she supposedly knows so many people who have regained. That should prove to her how hard it actually is and she should be supportive not negative. That's all I got. I haven't told anyone else bc of exactly this. I would've ripped her a new one but that's just me. Don't be me. She should feel privileged to have been trusted with the details of your surgery. Sorry you're having to deal with this! Good luck!

The post op return to work

I'm taking one week. Surgery scheduled for Monday 2/1 and going back on Monday 2/8. Luckily I'm scheduled off that following Friday already and the next Monday, is a State holiday so I'm off which makes the weekend of my return a long 4 day weekend. Hopefully that all helps with the transition back to work.

    Babies After the Sleeve

I have a 15 month old little girl and my surgeon asked if we wanted anymore. I told him no, not for about 2 years and he said perfect because he would like for me to wait 12 months at least, preferably 18. I also checked with my ob/gyn just to see if he has delivered any post WLS babies and he said he has delivered several and he echoed the waiting 12 months at least. He also mentioned that when i do get pregnant again, I would be considered high risk just because of the WLS and they would monitor things very closely to make sure the baby was healthy and ok. Surgeon also warned that fertility tends to skyrocket after WLS!

    Jan 26th surgery day!

My dr. doesn't do drains - luckily you don't have to go home with it. I'm just worried about lifting my 15 month old baby girl post-op. She loves for me to pick her up and I can't imagine her face when I tell her I can't. Luckily my husband will be off so he can out her in my arms but still...that's pretty much it. Aww. I feel the same way about my 18 month old little girl. I'm going to have her climb up on the couch to sit with me since she loves climbing anyways. My surgery is on the 28th! Hi! Congratulations you're almost there! Could you keep me posted and let me know how that goes? My little one loves climbing too! I read somewhere that we should do a lot of things on the ground - like diaper changes, have little picnics instead of using the high chair, etc. I'll try but idk how easy it will be to get up from that low afterwards. Lol! Anyways good luck!!!!!

    Jan 26th surgery day!

I'm a little weak but my stomach is really achy! I'm used to these shakes so I don't know what it could be. Going to drink a ginormous cup of water and go to bed. Nite y'all! One day down...
