  1. The nurses from the hospital just called to do my pre-registration. They told me where to go, what to bring, reiterated my pre-op diet of clears the day before and nothing past midnight, went over my meds, and had me pay my Tricare Standard copayment for the surgery - a whopping total of $18! W00t!!! Lol! It feels so real now! And it's so close. 5 more days!!!! To be honest, I'm getting a little nervous...just a little.
  2. I will be 6 months post op and have had no heartburn or gall bladder issues post op. I did have heartburn all the time before. My doctor had me on Prilosec OTC for 4 weeks (I week pre-op and 3 weeks post-op). He said that is why my recovery was so easy. Very surprised that I haven't had any heartburn; hadn't actually crossed my mind how long its been until I saw your post! Hope this helps...!

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Hi Everyone! Missed you guys! Feels like forever... We are coming up on our 6-month-aversarry! :-) I'm doing pretty great! Foods are agreeing with me, working out some, etc. I started officially at 293 and I am now at 208.8 so that's over 80 pounds down since surgery! I am very excited and happy... I have a check up on August 11th and I hope to at least be 199 by then... I would be so happy if that happened... NSV's *I am at my 2009 weight which is the weight I was at when I got married. My hubs is deployed so when he gets back he won't be able to recognize me which is amazing! jk! Hes been so supportive. We facetime all the time so he knows what I look like now, but still the effect in person is going to be crazy! *I had knee surgery after I hurt my knee in 2012. I have always been 217 plus post knee surgery. This is the first time I've weighed this little since that knee surgery and I feel amazing. No knee pain at all. *I am a size 12 in dresses! Down from a tight 16. *I am a size 14 in pants! Down from a tight 18. *My BMI was 47. Now its 33.7. Only downside to anything is hair loss. Yeah. I lost a lot in a patch but that's because I wasn't diligently taking my Vitamins. I have since started taking them all, each day, on time and the hair has mostly grown back. That's it! Hope everyone is well! Looking forward to the 6 month mark!!! Keep up the good work ladies!

    ...just got real!

Wow its been a while huh? LOL! Well, update: No complications at all. Losing nicely - down to 208.8 so that's a total of (291 - 208.8) 82.2 lbs lost!!!! In less than 6 months! And I still have two weeks before I hit the six month mark. Shooting for 90lbs. Pretty sure that at the rate that I am going right now 7.8 lbs in 18 days should be no problem! Hope everyone is doing great! :-)

    ...just got real!

Gosh it's been a while! I've been so busy with my new promotion and moving, plus celebrating my 7th wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday this last week. I have an update! Currently I am down to 240.2 which is 50.8 down per my surgeon's chart but 43.4 on my scale the morning of surgery. I use both for checks and balances; I like knowing the difference between the two scales. His goal for me was 50 lbs by our 3 month check up which is the first week of May. At this rate, I will have annihilated that goal!!!!!!! The past week seems to be where I've hit my stride. I didn't work out once but I dropped 5lbs!!! It's crazy! I'm hitting 600 calories everyday and I'm eating Protein first always. I am accustomed to only being able to take two bites of my food before I'm full, and I'm fine with that. This whole process has been amazing and I am super excited about where I'm headed. My husband and I had a marriage blessing at church on our anniversary and I wore a size 14 Alfani dress!!!!! It fit perfectly!! Other NSV's: I am back to my weight from before I got pregnant with my daughter in early 2014, I can wear all my size 16's and 14's comfortably and the 16's are borderline too big, I went out to a bar/lounge to Celebrate my husband's birthday and had not a single drop of alcohol - that's how focused I am, and I feel amazing!!!!! Hopefully I can remember to keep the updates coming! Hoping everyone is doing well!

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Excellent news then, you're progressing well! A few days ago, I had to lay flat onto a table to have a body scan. Before that day I had been obsessing about GERDS and getting worked up like I do when I let my anxieties take over. So I thought for sure I'd lie down and all this Fluid would come gushing up my throat because I had been drinking Water in the lobby. NOTHING happened. =) My LES was closed tightly. The scan took about 13 minutes so if it was going to happen I was thinking it should have. I could even feel blood rushing to my face, that is how flat I was. I had a hernia repair as well, so I think we have both come out of it nicely! Perhaps what I was feeling was my repair, not only did I require a repair, but scar tissue from a previous banding had to be cut off and that has been healing. Silly me. Praise GOD! Praise God indeed!!! I'm so glad your fears were unfounded. I am also really glad that we have progressed this far and so well. One more thing...and hopefully I'm not over stepping...but sometimes I get anxious about things. I have fears when my husband deploys overseas regarding his safety, and things like that. What I have to do is remind myself of the bible verse, I forget which one, but it says "God hast not given us a spirit of fear, but he has given unto us a spirit of love, a spirit of power and a sound mind." And it helps me every time. I hope you can find comfort in that sometimes when you get anxious.

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

My doctor warned me that after about 5 to 6 weeks my hiatal hernia repair would bother me again because it eventual firms up and then it's hard to swallow things. It's week 7 for me and it happened exactly like he said. It's just finishing up healing.

    ...just got real!

is this an app that u just type in the info? Or is this an actual water bottle that keeps track of when u use it???? Hi! Sorry for the late response! It's an actual water bottle, you don't type anything in. It's called the Thermos smart lid water bottle. It tracks your sips and ounces per day and tells the temp of your water. It syncs to an app that you download onto your phone. You can search for it online on the thermos website or just type in "thermos smart lid" on Amazon or google. feel free to ask any questions!

    ...just got real!

Hi Thinny! They were actually really good lol. I've since sent my husband twice to buy more from a local weight loss clinic. They were called Health Wise and they came in these bottles with just the powder and then you add 8oz of water. Be careful to though - they sell them in individual packets and for some reason, the packets are disgusting. You can taste an overpowering taste of protein. I bought them online by mistake. Stick to the one in the bottles of you get them!

    ...just got real!

Update: Finally done traveling! I'm down to 256.4 which is 31.6 since pre-op and 27.2 since surgery. Went to the gym one time - this past Sunday. I am so sore!!!!! Good way to start week 5! My eating is getting better. I've been having a lot of loaded baked potatoes because they are soft and go down easily. And when I say a lot, I mean one medium sized potato will last me 4 days lol. I've been eating Protein first and have been trying to get all my Water in. It's still a struggle. One thing I did notice. I stopped my Protein shakes on Thursday last week. I immediately became more regular, I was peeing way more and drinking more. I felt so much better. So for now, premiere protein is on the back burner until I decide I can drink one again. I have about 8 ready to drink left so I'll drink them...at some point. This week's goal? Hit the gym 2 - 3 more times and get down to 250. Increase water up to 64 per day, and eat more dense protein. Let's see how this goes!

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Hey y'all! I'm trying to get in more solid protein - trying to cut out those protein shakes. They are messing with how often I use the restroom. Anyway, I've been on real food for about a week now. Kinda hard. Struggling to make the right choices and get enough in. Water is still an issue but one thing I noticed is that using a straw is a godsend! I went to breakfast with a friend at work yesterday and grabbed a 20oz bottle of water which I drained in like 30 minutes using a straw! I'm going to keep doing it. Not using a straw was not one of my instructions lol. Good to see your updates. Hang in there! We should be hopefully settling in to some kind of consistency really soon!

    ...just got real!

Thank you! I heard the same thing!!!! I was just telling my husband that I wish I had a friend who was a nurse or lived closer to my doctor sorority sister so that she could give me an IV lol! I need to hit my Water goal asap so I can be sure that I won't get dehydrated when I start working out hard...

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Happy late 1 month surgeversary (sp?). I'm down 28 since pre-op and 25 since surgery. Haven't worked out for real - I had a 30 minute evaluation at the gym that's all. Once this traveling dies down, I'll hit the gym hard! Very excited. I'm one of the ones who has a very bratty sleeve. Everything hurts, chicken doesn't stay down. I have to be very very very careful with bites because one bite can make me puke it all. Not fun. Now I hardly ever want anything. Forcing my shakes down sucks!!!! But I'm loving the updates!!!!

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

It is! But it's so different with food now! I used to always grab a Starbucks mocha at the airport, See's candy bars and chips for the flight and eat all kinds of things on the go! Now I immediately go to find my Protein Shakes and then look for Soups for lunch and dinner!Talk about a world shift. Every time I see a Starbucks I have so many memories and I feel my hands beginning to turn into the driveway... Then I remember!! You probably keep a stocked food bag with you now? They can't sell too much soup at the airport, lol! Lol!!! I know the Starbucks feeling. It's crazy. I don't think I'll ever have what I used to have again! Nope - no soup at the airports but as soon as I'm through security I get a big bottle of Water. Once I land I hit cvs and get my Premier Protein. Then I find a restaurant that has soup. I went to joes crabshack this evening and got clam chowder. Only able to eat 4 spoons. Crazy changes!

    February 2016 sleevers?

Hey my fellow Feb 1 sister!!! Glad you're doing well!!! My whole throat was messed up from intubation. I think my anesthesiologist scraped it by mistake - it hurt more than anything, even the incisions. I've progressed to soft foods so I'm mainly eating soups, Greek yogurt, eggs, fish, Popsicles and protein shakes. I'm allowed other things but I like to keep it simple. What about you? Come back to our feb 1 thread! We miss you!
