Sorry it's taken me a bit to reply; it was a busy day and I am only 5 days post-op, so I came home and took a nap! I am well, I received the sleeve procedure I expected, and there's quite a 'buzz in the beehive' in medical records. The situation will resolve in the near future, but today I had to halt the meeting because I was becoming over-stressed and developing pain. Thanks to all for your support and anger on my behalf, when I was too confused and too under-the-weather to find the strength to get mad on my own!

SMH. This is information that should not have taken even 30 minutes to investigate. here's why. EMR. Electronic Medical records. Everything is there. Admission notes, Radiology reports, Surgical summary details, post operative summary, vitals, progress notes, Input/Output etc. I am a Registered Nurse-- worked at a center of excellence and know damn well this information is at your fingertips. Often times we receive very little information so we piece the puzzle together to obtain pertinent information that would aide us in providing OPTIMAL care for you during your inpatient stay.
I hope that this all works out for you and sorry if we seem so edgy it's just odd and my scorpio suspicions are telling me that if you haven't heard back yet-- they scrambling to clean up some kind of mess. I mean it's not like they cut off the wrong arm but still. Right patient. Right procedure. Errors can kill.

Tough love here......YES you can stick with the program. You absolutely do not need food to survive the first 6 weeks post op.
You could live on Water alone.
This is where the head starts to take control of your body. Advancing your diet before you are supposed to can cause serious damage to your new tummy. It can create problems down the road.
I will also ask if you are getting a minimum of 64 oz. of liquid? If not, that can cause the feeling of being hungry but I assure you, you are not.
This is when you learn to manage head hunger......
Many of us were not even allowed puréed foods until week 4! I know my doctor required Clear liquids week 1, full liquids weeks 2 and 3 and then finally puréed. Soft food did not come for me until week 6 post op.
You came this far, don't mess up now.

I just tell them the truth. First off, these folks around here will talk about you regardless, so I figured that I'd atleast give them some truth instead of making things up
Second, I want those around me to understand exactly what weight loss surgery is, why I chose to do it, and how it can be successful (because damnit I'm going to be successful).
And if I help one other person that needs help, then so much better.
However, I'm an open book... I have a hard time not just being me and to hell with what anyone else thinks... they'll most likely talk about me because they're jealous anyway
I spout off statistics, facts, and information so that it's not so taboo to them. The fact of the matter is, I have an eating disorder, and this 'tool' helps me to deal with that easier. It's not for everyone, but it can save someone's life if they need it.
Of course, I also realize not everyone is as open as I am, so I totally understand your desire to keep it to yourself. Just this past weekend, we had family staying with us, and my uncle - who is highly opinionated - had some choice things to say to me. I just smiled, quoted my facts, and tried my best to ignore him until my aunt could reel him in

Common misconception... Obamacare {The Affordable Care Act} is the law that regulates healthcare and the insurance industry, it doesn't matter what plan anyone has with who - they are all under the law. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Obamacare isn't a plan, it's a law... Everyone in this country who has any healthcare plan at all has Obamacare. Do you mean state insurance? Did you purchase a plan through the marketplace? If so, with who? Do you have state (which state?) insurance like Medicaid? There are literally hundreds of different plans through so many different programs/companies that it's not possible to answer your question with out more information...

Makes you wonder who that is happening to. Offering to feed (a part of someone) to (a different someone) if they moved makes you wonder who Negan is doing that to.
I guess we will find out in the fall.
(I left this generic for whoever didn't watch it yet and wants to; they probably shouldn't be reading these posts if they do).

ckrbaird got a reaction from Mz.W in Who has Cigna ?
I'm definitely confused about this 'between 25 - 30 days' thing... I've spoken to Cigna 3x so far and have never been told this and I did not see it in the coverage policy either. I'm scared now because I know I've gone over 30 days between appointments because that's the only way my work and doctor schedule will work. My next (last) appointment is 32 days after... I don't think a single one has been between 25 - 30 days! Can someone show where this is stated...?

You can start now. I started the process with United Healthcare and hubby and I both changed jobs and our health insurance changed to Cigna. My timeframe changed from 6 months to 3 months. So instead of having surgery in Feb/March of next year, I'm going in on December 9th.
When we moved to Cigna, I called Cigna and got them to email me the criteria and verified benefits, co-pays, etc.
As far as nutrition, WW and Jenny Craig are acceptable as long as you are supervised by a medical doctor. Cigna does not require a day to day accounting of what your diet. The nutrition component is mostly to know you are equipped with the information to make you successful after the surgery. Monthly weigh-ins are also required. I visited my doctor's office once a month to be weighed. My surgeon has nutritionists in his practice so I used them for documentation. Please note: Cigna requires 90 days of documented nutrition information, not 89 but 90. I did 4 nutrition visits to be safe.
    These are the Cigna requirements:
Medical management including evidence of active participation within the last 12 months in a weightmanagement
program that is supervised either by a physician or a registered dietician for a minimum of
three consecutive months ((i.e., ≥ 89 days). The weight-management program must include monthly
documentation of ALL of the following components:
    weight
    current dietary program
    physical activity (e.g., exercise program)
    Programs such as Weight Watchers®
, Jenny Craig® and Optifast® are acceptable alternatives if done in
conjunction with the supervision of a physician or registered dietician and detailed documentation of
participation is available for review. However, physician-supervised programs consisting exclusively of
pharmacological management are not sufficient to meet this requirement.
    • A thorough multidisciplinary evaluation within the previous six months which includes ALL of the
    following:
an evaluation by a bariatric surgeon recommending surgical treatment, including a description of the
proposed procedure(s) and all of the associated Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes
a separate medical evaluation from a physician other than the requesting surgeon that includes a
    recommendation for bariatric surgery
unequivocal clearance for bariatric surgery by a mental health provider
a nutritional evaluation by a physician or registered dietician
Here is a link to the current Cigna policy:

Hope this helps and good luck!
