  1. After sustaining a concussion back in May and still having some effects, I chose a driving eval for safety's sake. I wow'd the evaluator, who was also aware I hadn't driven in 18 years -- for no particular reason. I'm back in the saddle, so take cover!

  2. How can I ask a question in a forum?

  3. First day on my liquid diet.

  4. Who needs before photos for inspiration when you can look at old photos for the past 20 years and realize you were always a butterball?

  5. Consultation Scheduled! I'm relieved that I finally get to meet with the surgeon but just a little sad that I have to wait until after the new year. I guess that maybe I should be looking at this on a more positive note. This gives me time to deal with preparing getting into a exercise routine and sticking to it, taking a deeper look at what I am eating and how it affects my health, and getting my head in the game mentally for the ride that I am about to take. I already know that I meet the criteria for having the surgery so I am not worried about the process of being approved. God has brought me too far to fail me now. I'm exited, I'm anxious to get started, and I am ready to say good bye to the old me and hello to the new Diva that I know I can be. I'm crying tears of joy because I am finally starting to see the light at the end of a long tunnel. I wouldn't wish being overweight on my worst enemy. Through it all God is good!

Great feeling, huh? I was supposed to have surgery in Jan., then hubby's business decided to send him out of the country, so I'm looking at February. Aaaanyway, it occurred to me this weekend that it's not so bad having your sugery around the new year. Finally I'll be able to keep a resolution! ;D

  6. That super frustrating moment when you've lost over a hundred pounds but you are still quite plus size, and nothing fits but new clothes are super expensive because you are still in high sizes... and it's winter so you're freezing your new, smaller butt off. >.<

Does your surgical practice/support group have a clothing exchange? I just found out mine does and plan to hit it and thrift stores pretty hard as the sizes change. One hundred pounds is awesome, even moreso when you realize you won't be there for long!

Ask your dietitian. I asked mine this week if I could use homemade broth. She said so long as it had no bits in it (strain, strain, strain) it would be fine. I'd say probably better since you control the sodium. Cook your meat and veg/herbs in cheesecloth so you can remove them easily. Save the meat to use later when you can have pureed or solid foods.

Eat your protein first. Then wait 30-45 minutes. You still want that treat? Fine. But it doesn't mean the treat can have *you.* Take 3 to 4 bites and put it away. If you can't deal with it sitting their staring at you (you know how some foods seem to have accusing eyes) then toss it out or stick it in the freezer or do any of the alternative behaviors you've developed for yourself. LOG your treat. Better yet, LOG it before you eat it. Look at the numbers. Still want it?

  10. So much to be thankful for!

  11. Anyone here have hypothyroid? My weight has been going up before my surgery. The only thing I have changed is cutting carbs and eating protein and veggies to shrink my liver? I hope this does not keep me from surgery.

Have you talked to your endocrinologist? I no longer have my thyroid. Guess that makes me as hypothryoid as I can get! I was told to wait an hour after taking my synthroid before eating. Anyway, ask your doc to check your levels to see the thyroid hormones are where they should be.
