Please don't compare yourself to other people. If your surgeon is happy with your progress then you are doing well.
We all lose at different rates. We all have different starting weights, ages, genders, medical conditions, metabolisms, physical capabilities, etc. No two people will lose the same.
Just focus on following your program, getting in all of your Protein and fluids, taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercising.

    50 pounds is a lot.
I am 4 months and I have lost over 70lbs. It didn't seem like a lot until the last 10 lbs. I am actually happy that is came off slower than what some people post here, because my skin is tightening as I go. I am not getting too flabby looking or feeling. The last 6 weeks have been my best weight loss, losing about 30lbs in that time period. Partially because I can easily make goals and I can also easily be very active without it seeming like work or exercise, it is very natural at this point. My energy is boundless. Give it time, you might surprise yourself.

My three month surgiversary was Nov 17. I have lost 57 lbs. I lost about 12 lbs in the two weeks pre-op. Now I am only losing about 12 lbs per month. I just told my doctor on Friday that I really need to step up my game and he said " no don't" and proceeded to tell me that I'm right where I am supposed to be. If I keep losing 3 lbs per week (and I fully intend on doing so) for the next 12 weeks then I will still be down 92 lbs at the six month mark. Celebrate your success. Focus on your success and it will breed more success. Keep up the good work!

And let's not bash the mashed potatoes please. I know they are a carb but if you use new (little red) potatoes and smash them with the skin on there is a ton of potassium in them and they do have nutritional value. And if you use grass fed butter (such as Kerrygold that you can get at Walmart) and Fairlife high Protein milk that you can get at target, then yum yum and good for you. This is especially good because it is naturally a soft/puréed food.< /p>

I plan on approaching food the way I do every day on Thanksgiving. Protein first, then veggies. Pass on the bread, stuffing, pies, etc.

Yes, girl, whew...brings back memories! Just concentrate on eating the yogurt when you're able to and just drink those Protein shakes continuously...I still do for my protein! What do you take for your reflux? I take Dexilant 60mg and it's great for me and does much better than any other over the counter or prescription that I've ever tried. I'm sure your sleeve will work for you and you'll do great! Just keep doing what the dr says and never stray! ????????

When did y'all start using straws again? I have found its so much easier for me to get all my Water and Protein in if I use a straw. I am 1 month post op.

Considering our stomachs are much much smaller than normal, we can only eat so much before getting sick. So I'm eating my 1 or 2 oz of dark meat turkey a spoon of homemade noodles a spoon of mashed potatoes and a bite of pumpkin pie.

My plan is to eat as much turkey as I can take and then only get one bite of mashed potatoes and gravy, one bite of stuffing and one bite of pecan pie. If I can I'll try one bite of cranberry sauce. Sweet potatoes aren't a problem for me as I think they are disgusting. lol

It's nice that its hard for me to over eat on Thanksgiving. Small plate. I eat protein/turkey first. I eat what ever I want for the meal. Socializing makes me slow down as I eat. Enjoying the people around me and knowing how blessed I am. Is all I need for the holidays.
In the morning I'm doing the turkey day 5K. Its my second one since surgery. It is now my new Thanksgiving tradition. This race is my way to be thankful for all things that have changed in my life.

"So, I'm starting my Thursday with participating in a Turkey Trot 5K."
That is awesome!!! Good for you!!!
I am cooking for just us 4, so I'm keeping it really simple. Turkey, stuffing, mashed cauliflower, cran sauce, and some type of veggie. I getting the family pie, but I don't really like pie anyway. One of our traditions is that we go around the table expressing things we are most thankful for. He said he was going to say how much of a change he sees in me since I started this WLS journey. I am focusing on that and my own thoughts on thankfulness, hopefully it will keep me on track.

I put my plan into practice last night at our church's family dinner.
I used a small plate. I got turkey, a tablespoon of stuffing, a tablespoon of green Beans, and a tablespoon of something special (it turned out to be fruit salad). When it came to desert I had a very small piece of pumpkin pie.
    I recorded everything in MyFitnessPal.
We did have communion but I didn't record that (a tiny piece of bread and a thimbleful of grape juice).
The company and fellowship was great.

When you lie down, lie on your left side. That position helps the gas ease up. I'm suffering a bit as well, but the left side thing really helps.

Well I'm finally feeling like a person again. I was finally able to force myself to get the fluids in plus the Protein Shakes. But has anyone else had problems with reg. (Skim milk 90 calories )?
I have so I switched to powdered Protein and cashew milk yesterday , but I think I forced myself to drink too much Fluid too fast and was up till 5am cleaning and exercising to get rid if gas pains in my left shoulder and indigestion . Ugh! Never do that again. So I've only sipped 8oz crystal light so far. And about to get on treadmill for about 15 mins then try the Protein powder and cashew unsweetened milk (25 calories ) and take tiny sips super slowy and see how it goes.
    Wish me luck!
And good luck to you all.

I had it a days after surgery, still in hospital. But I think it was because I was so far behind on my Fluid intake. Once I increased it, I hadn't had it anymore since. I hope this helps.

thenewandbestme reacted to Bufflehead in HUNGER PROBLEM POST-OP
The most important thing I have learned in dealing with post-op hunger is how to be okay with being hungry. I remind myself that hunger is not an emergency, and that I will not starve to death. I have a set schedule for eating, and when I get hungry, I remind myself something along the lines of "it sucks to be hungry, but you can wait until you have your snack at 4." I also did some self-evaluation where I considered the times in my life I had been in true physical or emotional pain -- that time I had multiple root canals, the time my friend died, etc. When I am feeling sorry for myself and like I just can't deal with being hungry, I reflect on the times I have truly suffered, compare my hunger to that, and realize I can absolutely get through being hungry for a couple of hours. The truth is, eating is never the only response or way to deal with being hungry. Our body tries to tell us that it is an emergency and the only way to fix it is eating, but that's a lie.
I learned these cognitive behavioral techniques (and others) by reading Beck's The Diet Solution and working through her exercises.
