    Bad gas

    Bad gas

I had my revision 7 weeks ago. All is well except I have ungodly flatulence. It is a new development (last 4 days) and I had just begun eating broccoli and other cooked veggies. I also eat cheese daily. And wheat thins... It is so bad my bum is burning. I read charcoal and GASX might help? Anyone else have this curse? Any ideas on how to treat it? Thanks.
  3. Good luck with your conversion. I had my band removed and the gastric bypass surgery on 10/19/15 (32 days ago?) I am down at least 20 pounds I have not weighed myself this week. So far so good ... My surgery was laparoscopic. I had 2 band surgeries prior. So I have 7 sort of stab wounds. I had zero pain except for a little gas in my jaw. I was up and walking immediately after surgery and only needed one night in the hospital. They gave me a scrip for Oxy but I only needed one Tylenol for the 90 minute car ride home. The incisions were a 1 on the pain scale. Lower belly ache about a 2.5. Best of all I can swallow pills with water and have no blockage! No burping or spitting no heartburn or reflux. I am never hungry and prefer svelte chocolate shakes. I am now eating fruits and cooked veggies which the band did not allow. Best wishes, Terry

    Conversion surgery next week

I'm probably not the best person to answer this. I work for myself and I just work all the time. I am working online mostly but I would feel weak and stop. My husband made me go lie down and the heating pad would put me to sleep for just the first few days. I am not a fitness buff but I wanted to walk so we would go to the beach and at first I set my timer for 10 minutes and walk then when the timer buzzed I would turn around. So 20 minutes was a huge deal for me but now (1 month tomorrow I am about 35/40 minutes a day. I am going to Florida this winter and the rental has a private pool and I cannot wait to soak and float ...

    Conversion surgery next week

I was on liquid for a few days Then soft food like yogurt and cream soups. Day 8 I had cheese and apples and my life is great. I can eat protein bars and ground turkey. I am supposed to get 60-85 grams of protein and 60 oz minimum water daily but I'm never hungry so it's a challenge. I drink a protein shake in the morning with my vitamins and meds. I don't miss anything I am committed to getting healthy and living a more active lifestyle. You are so fortunate to be having this surgery in time to raise your family in a health conscious way. You need to be careful and no heavy lifting for the first 2 weeks. I wish you the best. It is wonderful NOT to be hungry. Did you know the lap band actually increases hunger? Wicked huh?

    Conversion surgery next week

Good luck with your conversion. I had my band removed and at the same time I had the gastric bypass surgery 28 days ago. I am down 20 pounds. So far so good ... My surgery was laparoscopic. Plastic surgeon in Boston

IMO Dr. Pandya at Lahey Clinic is phenomenonal. She did my husbands full body lift, arms and legs many years ago.

    Had my band out yesterday!

Did you have only the band removal? Or did you have a revision surgery as well?

    Eroded Band, Aborted Bypass Surgery

Omg Hun I'm so sorry. This just sucks ... I hope you heal well and try again. Peace.
  11. Good luck with your conversion. I had this surgery 6 days ago. So far so good ... As far as prep: I needed to lose 30-35 pounds prior. I lost 28 and that was fine. I had to go to four 90 minute meetings all about mindful eating and strategies for success. I met with my dietician 3 times prior. I had lots of blood work done and a barium swallow (which revealed an enflamed esophagus) They wanted to take out all of my fluid prior but I convinced them otherwise (it was still a tool I needed) I was put on a liquid diet 2 weeks prior (protein shakes and drinks) which I did not follow religiously. They told me it was so my liver would not be enlarged and it would make the surgery easier for both of us and recovery would be better as well. I had to stop taking any Advil and all vitamins one week prior. Clear liquids only 24 hours prior. Nothing after midnight on surgery day, except a sip to take my one prescription pill. Good luck!

    Pain Post Revision

I am 5 days post revision lap to bypass surgery. I was up, walking and had zero pain in the hospital. But I had an IV so that likely had some pain meds. I was released after one night I took one Tylenol for the long ride home. They gave me a prescription for Oxy which I filled "just in case" but I have had zero pain, just a little tightness. My surgery was laparoscopic and I have 7 little stab wounds (?) with steri strips with little soreness. I think being on the liquid diet pre op really helped. It gives a new meaning to the term No Pain, No Gain. I wish you the same pain free experience.
