  1. So... I got my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury yesterday. Having the chocolate splendor this morning in skim milk... and I must say this is by far the best one I've tried... Sheesh it took a LONG time to find one that wasn't thick and gross to me but I think I've found a brand I can stick with. Now to try all of the flavors. I'm not a fan of vanilla at all so I'll have to definitely mix that with something else but chocolate splendor, so far so good. Thank you all for the feed back. It's much appreciated.

  2. Recovery wasn't that bad for me. I couldn't seem to wake up from the drugs but other than that I was not in an intense amount of pain. That may have been due to that nifty little button they gave me lol. Otherwise this is by far one of the best decision's I've made for myself and my life in a very long time. The first week or so was slow going but by week three I felt great... I'm at week five today and still feeling good... Had a minor set back but no complaints. Just know you're in for a big learning period and in for making a lot of adjustments to be successful.

    Good luck!

  3. I was sleeved on 09/17 and so far so good, with the exception of I think I was moving too fast so I'm scaling back on foods for this week and eating only soft stuff. I'm still searching around for a Protein I can stand. I ordered the unjury sample pack and hopefully those aren't that bad. I also ordered a nurtibullet the other day. Today, I bought some 2 oz red dixie cups to help with my Fluid intake. I plan to keep a tally during the day of how many oz I am drinking to work my way up to 64 oz.

Here is wishing you the best of luck.

  4. I was shopping in CVS on my lunch break today and found these awesome little red 2 oz cups for a $1.00 so I bought a pack... And they are helping me get my fluids in... I can drink 2 oz at a time and then keep a tally of how many I'm having during the day and this will definitely help me be more cognizant of the fluids I'm getting in. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was an awesome find. I'm going to go back and get some more for my best friend because she needs them too. post-264878-0-68831000-1445551041_thumb.jpg

  5. I didn't expect the weird noises that would constantly come from my throat and chest from anything I ate or drank. I guess they're just air bubbles, but it can be so embarrassing when they happen in a quiet classroom.. People say if I could make myself burp it might help, but I can't figure it out!

I was off pain meds after a week. But the pain near my bellybutton (the strange pulling feeling) didn't go away for another week or so after that. I missed sleeping on my stomach beyond anything else and pushed myself a bit just to be able to do it when I was still pretty sore

This has been something I've dealt with also... and Oh how I missed sleeping on my stomach. Finally at 5 weeks post op I am able to do so comfortably. That pulling feeling lasted up until last week for me and I was so glad when it went away. It wasn't really painful as much as it was irritating.

I did not expect to not be able, like so many other's, to swallow a pill. I tried to take a tylenol and my body said "NOPE" threw up as soon as it touched my tongue. That definitely caught me off guard.

Other things I did not expect:

At five weeks out becoming nauseous with everything I ate, regardless of what it was. I had to call my doc and they said just cut back for a week and then try again.

Maybe I've been moving too fast. I don't drink coffee so the caffeine wasn't a big for me but Oh how I'd love to have a PEPSI.

I also did not expect to want something with sugar in it so badly.

Or how hard it would be to find a 100% fruit juice that wasn't full of sugar.

Or a fruit cup that wasn't only in Syrup.

Slowly but surely I'm figuring these things out though.

    Best of luck to you.

  6. I use unjury - and like it. I mix it with Almond Milk, ice cubes, PB2 and a banana. I like both the vanilla and the chocolate. I also have the Soup - which reminds me of Ramen broth - but you can't heat it too hot or the Protein will get sticky.

I could not for the life of me figure out why they had a chicken soup flavored one. Lol. I ordered the sample pack so that I could try it and see how I like it... Because I've got to find one that is tolerable. Does it get very frothy?

I heat my Water and bring it to the 130-135 degrees. Then I stir in the chicken soup Protein Powder. It doesn't get frothy at all. Maybe because I stir it and don't shake it.

Do the other's froth? That's a major problem for me.

  8. Good morning,

Just wondering about other people's experience with the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein. I ordered some of this as I've been struggling to find a protein that I can actually tolerate. It's all sooooo very nasty to me, but I know that I need it especially since I am still not getting in enough protein food wise. What has your experience been with it? Do you like it? Dislike it? Or do you know a good protein that will work?

  9. Awesome! How are you doing so far? I can't wait, so ready to get to the seminar n get this started already..kinda impatient lol

I'm doing well so far. Some days are better than others and some things are slow going. I'm five weeks out so I'm trying to figure out what I can eat and what I can't. Slowly adding things back in. So far, no major issues to speak of though. Outside of the fact that this week I've been plagued with nausea. Best of luck to you.

  10. I would agree about getting a vegetti. I LOVE mine. Best $15 I've spent ever. As far as only being three weeks out and eating Pasta, I'd say nope. Probably not the best choice. I'm not sure about other's but we were given a binder with very specific instructions in it. At three weeks we were still only supposed to be eating softer foods and adding in more Protein options. I'm having to personally scale back to liquids for now because for some reason at five weeks out my body has decided that it doesn't want food and is rejecting it, so I called the surgeon and he said do liquids for a week and try again.

I wish you all the best with your WL journey but be wise. Pasta is high carb. Can't be good long term for weight loss...

  11. We will have to provide phone numbers and download "whatsapp" app on our phones. I can get started on it, If you guys can email me your phone numbers at affu212@yahoo.com :)

Okay sounds good!!! Those of us that want to be involved in the September sleevers group can email sleevedlife123 our phone numbers and we will have to download this app! I am excited for this new support group :)

    Done.

  12. I'm assuming Planet is staffed 24 hours so I can show up at night and get a tour? Don't really have time during the day. Think I may go there tonight and check it out.

Not all of them are 24/7 but a lot of them are. I'd check online for the hours. The one's that aren't close at 9 usually.

  13. I'm a PF member and I actually love it. No one there ever looks at me crazy or anything. People are there doing their own thing. I like that they have a 30 minute circuit. Makes it easier to get a quick effective work out in. I do wish they had classes like 24 hour BUT for $20 a month I can't ask for much... especially compared to the prices at 24 hour fitness. The gym I use had hydro massages so after I work out I can get an awesome 7 minute Water bed massage... Overall, it works for what you want it to work for. You'll see people of all sizes and fitness levels there.

  14. At 5 weeks I wasn't on solid foods yet. It could be that maybe you are moving through the food stages a little too quickly, depending on what you're eating? Definitely your surgical team is the best source for information at this point. I would say don't panic, but also don't just dismiss it as "normal". Rely on your team to trouble-shoot the issue. I haven't thrown up once since my surgery (14-months out now), but others do throw up quite often. So it's hard to say what is "normal".

Yeah, you're right and that's what I was thinking so I was just gonna go back to soft/pureed foods and try that for a while and see how I tolerate that but I'll give my doctor a call just to see what they say.

  15. Call your surgeon... throwing up like that isn't normal, and your surgeon and his team are there to help you. Maybe you have a stricture?

I'm not sure what that is exactly. But that is my next step. I just don't want to freak out and turns out that its nothing.

A stricture is when the top part of your sleeve (where it connects to your esophagus) becomes narrowed. It makes it difficult to eat and drink, but my understanding is that it can be fixed endoscopically, without further surgery and isn't usually a huge deal. I think they put a balloon down your throat and inflate it to dilate the stricture. But definitely talk to your surgeon--it may be quickly and easily resolved--you shouldn't have to feel miserable like this!

Thank you ladies. I appreciate the feedback

  16. I had my sleeve done on 09/17/15 and I am five weeks out as of tomorrow. For some reason this week, everything I eat, no matter how slowly I eat it, makes me nauseous. I've thrown up more this week than I have in what feels like my entire life. Am I the only person this is happening to? And if I'm not what can I do to stop it? I'm thinking of scaling all the way back to just liquids. Sigh...

  17. I haven't been drinking a Protein shake daily either because I have no found one that I can tolerate. I just ordered the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury so that I could try that. Someone else recommended shakeology. I also got Gummy Vitamins and those are much easier to take and tolerate. I would say that though that not getting enough Protein can definitely cause major issues down the road so you may want to figure out ways to get your protein in... and it's taking in fluids that count. If you're not able to do Water try G2 by gatorade.
