I stalled at week 5 post op, was stalled for about 2.5 weeks, now lost 2.5 lbs, but I could still see I was losing inches. It was hard not to see the scale move at that time but all I could do just stick to the plan.

This quote was on Facebook today.
I think it certainly applies to WLS and stalls.

Yes, my weight stays the same at times (stalls) however my Measurements change, and I keep Shrinking ....
    So, it is all good.
Inner Surfer's Girl's posts, information and reassurance made me understand the nature of the stalls, and be accepting of my journey.

I've been "stuck" in the same 10 lb. range for about 6 months now. Very frustrating. I've been logging, counting, changing up exercise routine, decreasing caloric intake, increasing caloric intake, doing whatever I can think of to jumpstart the weight loss again. I do take satisfaction in the fact that I have not gained and have still continued to lose inches. I will press on!!

you lost 40lbs in 2.5 weeks. that's amazing. give your body time to adjust. I was sleeved 6/17 and have lost...nothing, nada, not even a tenth of a pound. I was very frustrated Thursday at my two week post op appointment. after a lot of thought that night, i'm not as upset. I just did major trauma to my body. my body is reeling and confused and trying to repair itself. the weight will come off - at this low a calorie intake it can't NOT come off.
now is time to trust in the process and stay the course. after all, don't really have much choice, the surgery isn't reversible.

I'll add my two cents here. Inner Surfer Girl is right -- we all hit this. I've read this a lot before I had my VSG and then I lived it...
I'm about 2 months out now -- I too did really well in the first few weeks -- lost about 25-30 pounds in the first month, then stalled for almost a month. Now I'm back to losing consistently again.
Everyone's journey is a little different, and they call it the "three week stall" because on average that's about when it hits. From what you wrote you've done extremely well losing 40 pounds in 2.5 weeks. Your body fights this though and needs some time to adjust -- it's going to hold on for a while. Nothing's wrong, you might stall for a week or a month. In my experience I completely stalled for about 10 days, then I'd lose a pound -- and stall for a week, then maybe another pound, stall for a week. It's frustrating after losing weight so fast at first but you'll be back to losing in due course. Oddly, I found (since I weigh every morning consistently) that I'd usually spike up unexpectedly the day before I'd lose. I swear one morning I was up 3.5 pounds and I hadn't done anything differently! That 3.5 pounds (and more) was gone the next day. There isn't much you can do but follow your surgeon's recommended program.
So don't fret, it's part of the journey. I like to think of it as a long hike down the side of a mountain -- much of the path leads down, but some parts are level (or even uphill) and you still have to walk them to get to the lowlands below.
    Good luck on your journey.

I'm a week post op today and my first week was Clear Liquids only. I was wondering why but today I had a Protein drink and it hit like a ton of bricks. And I have healed very well. So try some broth, tea, and clear Protein drinks. I bought a 4 pack at Walmart with 20g of Protein per bottle. It's an Atkins drink and they have 3 flavors and are the consistency of favored Water. Good luck

Poor thing!....focus on just fluids until things settle a little. broth, tea, room temp Water, or flavored water......sugarfree popsicles...crushed ice.
Once you're able to build up your fluids then slowly start working on the Protein......Go slow and steady....it will get better I promise!

I'm pre-op but you could try some broth, sugar free popsicles, flavored water, crystal light, etc. Try drinking smaller sips of Protein Shake or look into Syntrax Nectar instead. Good luck.

My surgeon said that the 1st week after surgery I can only have Clear liquids and to not try to over do it. broth could be a great choice.
    God bless.

Try some broth or hot tea. Often Hot Drinks are easier on the stomach than cold.
If you continue to throw up, call your surgeon.

I had my surgery July 6th! You'll be great, guys. The bowel prep wasn't nearly as bad as I had anticipated. The stuff wasn't exactly gross, but it was very strong. I had it through a thick straw over ice and took 30 minutes to drink 15 oz of it. I was able to play video games between toilet visits. The next morning I woke up, brushed my teeth carefully (so I didn't swallow any), and wore an optimistic t-shirt to the hospital. They took me back at 11:11, and I had to wait until after 3 to roll out to surgery. This is when I was the most scared. But then they gave me "margarita mix" happy drugs to help me relax, then the anesthesia hit and I woke up in recovery in under 2 hours. I slept a lot right after, but they had me get up and walk twice that evening. I spent 2 nights in the hospital, walking every hour and sipping fluids after I passed an upper GI to make sure I had no leaks. I wish you all the best!
Edit to add: I gained about 5 pounds from all the fluids they pumped into me. Don't weigh yourself when you get home unless you can handle seeing a gain. It's just because you're super hydrated!

Laughing at how optimistic I was here. Yes, I easily avoided all the usual temptations near home like pizza, chips, ice cream, takeout. But I cheated on my liquid diet almost every day with small servings of raw or fresh grilled fish for dinner and one night that fish came with a side of baby artichokes. Today is the last day before surgery and I'll stick to all liquids but ugh! I suck. Haha.
