RabidChild reacted to lauren66 in Too early to worry?
My RNY was 9/29 and I experienced the exact same concerns. I even made an extra trip to the surgeon's office as I was convinced that he hadn't made my new stomach small enough or that something went wrong in the surgery. After much discussion, my fears were alleviated. Let me share with you what I learned.
1.) Until the nerve connections to your new stomach establish themselves you are not going to feel that full sensation
2.) while eating soft foods you may or may not ever feel that feeling but you certainly will when you switch to solids
3.) even though we may not be in pain (lucky us!), our bodies are still healing from a major operation. Take a look at some of the medical videos to remind yourself of all the complexities and give your body time to catch up to your mind.
4.) do not weigh yourself. I was getting on the scale all the time and it was depressing me - sometimes up and sometimes down. The medical staff told me to pay attention to the changes in my body and NOT the numbers on the scale. I did not believe them but figured I would give it a try. It worked. I can feel my body shifting. I feel the changes in the way tops and bottoms fit me - everything is looser now. Give this a try and you will not worry so much.

Oh my gosh-I wish I had seen this post 20 minutes ago!!! I'm having the same issues and had GBS on 9/14. I was really getting worried that it didn't "work" -so glad to hear I'm not the only one. I love this forum, so much support and info!!

RabidChild reacted to Martene81 in Progress so far! (Pics)
Since my surgery (RNY) 7 1/2 weeks ago weight loss has been a little slow. I'm down a total of 46 pounds but couldn't "see" much of a difference in myself. Well my daughter convinced me to take a pic of myself today and while it's not a huge difference, I can see some progress so far!

The day of surgery I was 387. When I started the program I was 402. My highest ever weight was 442.
Monday will be 12 weeks since my RNY, and I'm now 335.
I've got a long way to go but I feel great, and I've worked so, so hard to get here.

RabidChild reacted to Ashlegal in Hello
A week before surgery I was 289. My highest weight was 294 and on surgery day I weighed 279. I am two months post-op and weight 240. I had a stall around week 6-7 and then started losing again last week.
Some days it feels like I am not losing fast enough and other days it feel like I am losing too fast. Everything I own is too big, everyone that sees me that had not seen me since surgery is shocked at how I look (especially in my face) and I notice how more mobile I am everyday. Everything from taking a shower, putting on shoes, putting on a bra, painting my toe nails and even getting in and out of bed get easier everyday.

So I think I can "officially" call myself "pre-op". I met with a surgeon last week who recommended gastric bypass. I've toyed with idea for years and was inspired by an old high school classmate sharing her journey on Facebook over the last 18 months.
I started last year trying to get approved by my insurance (who does not cover WLS) for issues w/hiatal hernia, GERD, acid reflux. fast forward about 8 months (with still no luck)I sign up for my annual benefits for open enrollment & what do I see?? Starting Jan 1st UHC is covering bariatric surgery!!! I am over the moon!
My weight has been an issues since puberty so I AM nervous about just being "smaller" in general as it will be such a different experience! I am positive that I will use this tool to continue healthy changes!
I am at the very beginning of my journey, I see my PCP next month & will start the 6mo physician followed diet then. I won't be able to see the psychologist or nutritionist until after Jan1
I want to say I have read so many posts that 1. Affirm I am making the right choice 2. Reinforce I am not alone in this 3. Show how supportive this community is! So thank you in advance!!
