Well Nov 13th came an went and guess what I'm still waiting. The doctors office didn't send my paper work out until Nov 18th and when I called BCBS on Monday she told me that they sent everything but my sleep study! So they mailed that to them ? BCBS says they could have faxed it. I don't know what the hold up is however my insurance changes on Jan1 Praying for surgery before then.

Vent away!!!!! I feel ya! I feel like I can not talk to anyone I know about these things b/c they just don't get it! We do though! Good Luck!

Yes keep calling them! I have called every day! Called yesterday and found out my sleep study was never sent in with the paper work the first time. Sooooooooooo they mailed it out to them?????? Anyways as soon as that gets done she said it shouldn't take but a day for them to decide.(BCBS told me this) They are very helpful and friendly ! GOOD LUCK. My insurance changes as well on Jan 1st so it's very important to me too to have it done before the first of the year or else they will have to send it again to another insurance company I went ahead and started on my pre op liquid diet so I would be ready when they call ya know! Keep me updated .

I know this is a completely different surgery but I had complete ACL repair and wore a tampon in surgery. I was to embarrassed to ask other wise. lol

Go to the office and ask to speak with someone about your case. I did this and called several times. I know they think I'm the crazy lady but hey whatever works!

Did you call your insurance company to find out your approval?

Congrats!!!!!!! I'm still waiting on my approval. Mine was sent in last Thursday! Very nerve racking! So happy for you. Have you been given an surgery date?

is there anyway you can keep the insurance you have by applying for insurance on your own with a bcbs plan that does offer the bariatric surgery? So frustrating, I hope this works out for you.

Have you tried the protonix? It is a liquid that has a high volume of protein in it? I plan on drinking this for after surgery since I will not be able to take in but small amounts at a time I want to ensure I get my protein in first!

Good luck I'm still waiting to hear back on mine . I was told it my paper work was submitted to BCBS AL on Nov 13th but I called BCBS today and they have not revieved my paper work yet ? I'm going to call again on Wed. I have been so worried that I will be denied after going through all these appointments and the co pays out , and I just want the wait off already!. Hey I'm from Dothan too! Waiting for my paper work to be submitted on Nov 13th and DR.Marker is my doctor! Hoping to have surgery by end of Dec!

I called my insurance company and they were able to tell me they had not got my paper work yet. The lady was so nice and told me they have to tell you give it 30 days, but she said it really only takes about 7 days. So give them a call, they are really nice. At least BCBS of Al is.

my weight has fluctuated since I started my 6 month journey , and I actually have gained about 3lbs I hope they do not accept mine once its sent on Nov 13th. Good luck with your weigh in!

I'm so sorry! I too am terrified that I've gone through all this with my insurance company for the last 6 to 7 months with co pays and out of pocket money spent to meet the requirements and to possibly not be approved. I hope this peer to peer works in your favor! please keep me updated. I will not know about my approval till they submit my paper work on Nov 13th. How long did it take to hear back from them once they sent it in?

call you doctors office and ask to speak with the nurse or phone nurse if they have one and ask them just to be sure everything is ok. !

Hello I have BCBS AL , Started my process May , and had to do psych eval, sleep study, weigh in monthly, give last 3 year weights, see my PCP 3 times , letter from my PCP , and meet with the NUT. They can not submit my paper work until Nov 13th so , I have to wait to hear back from them. It has been a long process but I'm beyond ready by this point! Let me know how it goes for you

I know that feeling of the wait. They can not submit my paper work to BCBS AL till Nov 13th! It feels like forever away. I did call and talk to a lady a BCBS AL about the approval time frame and she told me they have to tell you 30 days, but should not be more than 7 or 14 at the most. I'm hoping for surgery around Dec at least. Good luck keep me posted.

Have you tried the bariatric pal food store on here? I've been looking at the products and they have broth that has protein in it I want to say like 15grams per serving. I plan on buying a bunch of this stuff to have for before surgery on my 2 weeks of liquids and then for after. They even had jello on there that has 15 grams of protein.
