  1. As of now I regret having the surgery! I am only a week post op, but every swallow of Water or anything feels like it gets stuck. Yes I did take my comment down because it did hurt my feelings. I went into this journey alone and I still feel that way! I tried to reach out a few times to get support, but feel like it's a lost cause. I have been alone on this journey since August other than with my doctor and his staff. I don't know what I'm feeling, don't know if it will get better, and not sure if it was all worth it. I'm down 30 pounds since my 2 week preop diet and I don't go back to the doctor till next Thursday. I just feel depressed!

The swallowing problem gets better fairly quickly. Give it another week.

  2. I found the % on one of my pamphlets. There is no explanation. They explain what the procedures are and then the percentage of death. This was the very first pamphlet of information that I received.

Those death rates don't look right. Also, it must be an old pamphlet. It states that the lapband is a new procedure.

PS. If you got that pamphlet from your surgeon's office, I would suggest that you find another one.

  3. I was going to have lap band but after taking to consultant decided on sleeve and booked 25 april at leeds spire with healthier weight. But starting to have doubts about it cos I didn't want anything permeant and I suffer arthritis in my ankle and wont be able to take naproxen after surgery. Which I thought ok I will manage with gel but started to think what if I get riddled with arthritis when I'm older, I'm 53 at moment, but if t it so bad that I need naproxen what then. I know band is not as good as sleeve but its reversible if needs must . Help any advice please think I'm just getting worried bout it as well

Are you sure that you can never take it again? I just had to stop taking my medication 10 days before surgery and was able to start taking it again 6 weeks after surgery. I take mobic.

  4. I'm really not sure how I should feel about this, first week of my liquid diet my husband was amazing! Didn't flaunt or eat certain things in front of me as a form of support. Well, this week blows! He went grocery shopping and got tons of bags of candy, tummies, chocolate, and chips! Tons! Like 6 bags and even a bag of Pork rinds. He said the boys and him are kinda like bachelors while I'm getting sleeved. tonight they are cooking tater tots and crispy fried chicken. I decided to stay in the other room until they are done so I don't drool! I haven't cheated at all, but if I see another boring shake or can of freakin cream Soup I'm going to scream!

    Anyone else share my pain?

After surgery, it will be easier for you to resist. Just try to hang on for a little longer.

  5. @@NikkiDoc - Thank you as well.

If you don't have GERD, is there an easy way to have one? Or do you just tell them to fix it while they are in there and there happens to be one?

An egd test will tell you if you have one. Your insurance will pay for that surgery which will make the WLS much cheaper because they do both at the same time.
