I never had a problem losing weight. I did great on Weight Watchers, on Atkins, on South Beach…
My problem was maintaining my weight loss. Once I got to where I wanted to be, I lost focus and gained all my weight back. Plus some.
I've been at my goal weight for over a year and a half. My restriction is very good and my inability to eat some foods suits me well. I don't have to think about maintenance too much, it just happens for me naturally now. I don't regret this decision one bit despite some of the minor complications I've had.
Best of luck in your decision.

I love soup! I have always been a Soup lover and have fallen deeper in love since having RNY surgery.
I made the following soup(s) tonight, Sunday night and will be making the third one on Friday night.
    Sharing is caring!
Low Carb Avgolemeno (Greek chicken, Lemon & Egg Soup) INGREDIENTS 4 cups cooked, shredded chicken 10 cups chicken stock or broth 3 eggs ⅓ cup fresh lemon juice 2 cups cooked spaghetti squash ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped salt and pepper to taste freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional) INSTRUCTIONS Add the chicken and broth to a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. In a medium bowl whisk the eggs and lemon juice together until frothy. Slowly whisk 2 cups of hot stock into the egg mixture - don't just dump it in or you'll end up with scrambled eggs! Once the stock has been incorporated into the egg mixture, add back to the pot. Stir in the spaghetti squash and gently reheat the soup if necessary - don't bring to a boil or the eggs may curdle. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and grated parmesan cheese (optional). NOTE: Approx nutrition info per serving: 289 calories, 15g fat, 4g net carbs, 33g Protein Slow Cooker Chicken Enchilada Soup Ingredients 1 1/2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 medium yellow onion, diced 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced 1 jalapeno, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 15-oz. can diced tomatoes 2 cups chicken stock 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tbsp cumin 1 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp paprika Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped 1 avocado, pitted and sliced Instructions Add the chicken to the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the onion, bell pepper, jalapeno, and garlic on top of the chicken. Pour the diced tomatoes and chicken stock over the top. Sprinkle with chili powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours. Use a fork to shred the chicken before serving. Garnish with cilantro and avocado.
meat and vegetables 1 pound of ground meat 2 onions chopped about 5 yellow squash, cut into small pieces 1 cup of shredded carrots 2 large cans of tomatoes, undrained 3 cups of beef broth ⅓ cup of heavy whipping cream 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (more for topping) 2 tsp of salt 1 tsp of pepper 1 tsp of red pepper flakes 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning 1 tsp of garlic powder 1 tsp of cumin powder ½ tsp of glucomannan (optional) Instructions Heat your coconut oil in your heavy soup pot. Brown your meat. Add your chopped onions and cook until translucent. Next, add in your carrots and squash, tomatoes, broth, and seasoning. Let simmer for 1 hour. Add in your heavy whipping cream and cheese and stir to combine and cook an additional hour. Sprinkle the glucomannan on top over soup and mix in well to thicken your soup. I like to let my soup cook for a good 3 hours to get the flavors really combined together. Serve with additional cheese on top.

I can feel what you re going through. Being in the restaurant business my ex always had an excuse to get drunk with the customers. It was hell trying to work the restaurant and staying away from him when he was drunk, as he could turn from a happy drunk to a nasty vicious one. Ive had similar things happen physically as you hve. After our 3rd daughter it became hard for me to work there as often so i was at home. He would come home every night drunk and basically try to start something. I was smart to keep my mouth shut and play along with him BUT I was smarter on the day I said enough was enough and ended a 20year marriage. Some would say you have kids keep trying to make it work, and yes i did love him, but then I looked at my 3 daughters and knowing that if I stayed it would only be showing them that that behaviour is acceptable. That final day he had thrown a chair at me, I still didn't say anything but when he hit one of my daughters I saw red and god knows where my strength came from and he is bigger than I was I basically grabbed him and threw him out the door at 4 am.
I am very sure he does love you but if he won't help himself you can't do anything else but look after yourself. it gets worse not better in my experience. Get out before the next accident could be fatal.

Victoria Mora reacted to Elizabeth Anderson RD in Dangerous Diet Myth #2
Are you unknowingly following some of your old dieting habits? After decades of dieting it can be hard to let go of old beliefs and behaviors. But be careful, some of those old rules and tricks are downright dangerous after WLS.

Bariatric Dietitian Elizabeth Anderson unveils 5 common but Dangerous Diet Myths.
Today, myth #2--low calorie food don't count.
    Let’s start with pure, innocent popcorn.< /p>
Popcorn is a great, high volume, low calorie, whole grain snack-- if prepared in a healthful way.
Dieters love air-popped popcorn! It provides a BIG feeling of fullness for very few calories. It can be a great tool for managing late night snacking when you’re watching your weight …
if you aren’t a bariatric surgery patient.
For weight loss surgery patients, it’s that feeling of fullness that’s the concern. After WLS, you’ve got to be very careful about high volume foods—even if they’re ‘healthy’ or low calorie.
Those neat little bags of baby carrots are a classic example.
In many diet plans, these low calorie veggies are the perfect ‘free food’ because they’re high in nutrition. I’ve had many clients tell me this is their go-to snack because ‘they really don’t count.’
Don’t get me wrong, we all need vegetables and carrots ARE super healthy. But WLS surgery intentionally left you with precious little capacity in your pouch or sleeve.
For the very best and most healthy weight loss/maintenance, you need to fill that tiny space very strategically. Protein, vegetables, whole grains—in that order.
Be careful not to override your surgical tool with very low calorie vegetables or…popcorn. Yes, they’re healthy but standard dieting advice is just one more of things that don’t fit after WLS.
Tomorrow dangerous diet tip #3: Fooling Your Stomach with Fluid.< /p>

Furthermore, you can ask for a numbing agent on the skin before they put the needle in. Then you truly feel almost nothing. I'm not afraid of needles, but I always get the numbing agent anyway.

Hahahha. Nope I'm not one to walk quietly through the world with my head down. Thank god!!
I have as many flaws and insecurities as anyone else. But what I have learned in life is no one else will be your advocate- you have to be your own.
My insecurities in my youth led me into an abusive marriage for 8 years that almost killed me. I had to decide every day whether or not I believed the things he said to me. I was called a fat pig every day for years and I had children with him so I felt very trapped. It's was so hard to leave.
I've come out of that strong and full of love for myself and appreciation of my worth. No one will do that for us. And hating on other people- that's a sign of insecurity if I've ever seen one!!
I have no problem sitting with my flaws and shouting out my good qualities. Life is hard enough and if your not going to be your own best friend, who will?????

Thank you for understanding my post. It is totally offensive to me to hear people put others down on their looks. My being thin has seemed to give these guys a license to criticize other women! Seriously, the guy I went out with last night insulted his own daughter to me!!!
I am a professional photographer for a living. I've worked with a lot of models over the years. And it's interesting to me how SO many of them can't seem to find a relationship. One would think it would be easy being blessed with incredible beauty as they are.
I suspect the issue is that they do attract shallow men obsessed with looks and perfection. They have to weed through that and find Someone who enjoys their beauty but looks past it and sees their personality as well.
I have met several men obsessed with looks and they come right out and say it. It's not in my head.

If you suspect they are a "fat-shamer", slipping in about how you were obese may not be a bad thing, this way you can weed out people with that kind of mentality, because they probably wouldn't have given you a second look when you were obese.
I hate people like that. There are some people who give me the time of the day now that I lost weight. I am glad they showed their true colors; I rather have a conversation with an obese person who is sincere, true and kind then one with a normal weight person who is two-faced and shallow.

    Girl.
Excuse my need to get real, and I am saying this with all due respect but many of us do seem to surround ourselves with like minded folk.
You seem to be very focused on your weight and appearance -- at least here on these forums. That's not a knock, it's simply MY perception. I'm guessing that your tendency to focus on your personal appearance guides the attention of the men you are dating to do the same.
Join groups that focus on biking, hiking, knitting, whatever it is YOU enjoy doing and like minded people will be there to be met.

You can certainly enjoy being thin and not have to be in any fetishist's club. One does not imply the other, so don't worry about that.
I find what you are describing to be as offensive as homophobia or racism. You wouldn't give a guy a second date if he said on the first date how much he hated blacks or asians, or how much he despised gay people, right?
So just use these very disrespectful, but informative,l comments as a way to sort out men you would never be compatible with, and keep sifting through the crap until you find your gold.
I remember years ago having a first date with a man who, over coffee, began to diss on his employers. "They are Jewish, so of course they are stingy and my salary isn't what it should be."
"Oh really?" I said. "I know a lot of Jewish people who aren't like that."
    "Who?" he asked.
"Well," I began, "my parents, for instance."
There was never a second date, of course, but what a great insight into who this man was.

I couldn't sleep for three days in anticipation of my first fill after surgery. I HATE needles and I have NO tolerance for pain. I have an excellent surgeon and I never really feel the needle or have pain. It is more like pressure. If I can do it, ANYONE can **smiles**

@@Victoria Mora don't worry!!! I promise the fill experience is not like getting blood drawn. The Dr. or PA will feel for your port and the initial "pinch" feels like just that a pinch. The needle only pierces the layer of your skin and goes right into the port.
The Dr. will use a special kind of needle that is meant to permeate the port and not damage it or you. Once the Dr. access the port it felt a bit to me like a mechanic doing an oil change or something. The Fluid is then pushed into the port through the tubing and eventually to the band.
Some doctors are aggressive with their fills and may do up to a 1 cc or more. Some doctors like mine are very conservative with their fills and would only give a .5cc fill each time.
It can take up to a week to two weeks for the fill to fully settle into the band, so don't be shocked if you don't feel any changes right away. If that amount of time passes and you are still able to overeat, or you are eating sooner than 3 hours between meals then you will probably need another fill.
there is no way to measure what fill level will work for each person. Everyone is different. There are some who just having the band is enough and they never need a fill and then there are some that are mostly filled to the highest level of the bands and find that to be their sweet spot. The average I feel of most people seems to be between 5-6 cc's in a 10 cc band.
More than likely your Dr. will ask you to be on liquids for a day or more and then slowly move back to solid foods, this is to allow the stomach to ease into the fill and not be overly stressed out by the increased pressure in the band and the pressure of foods coming through.
Let your Dr. know when you go in your a bit fearful of the needle so they have a little more patients with you, lean back and close your eyes and you will be done before you know it.

    Ive discovered Zoodles!!
made them yesterday and today. I added baby tomatoes, garlic, red capsicum, fresh chilly, shredded kale. Sauteed them till they were warm but less than half cooked, then stirred through some fresh baby spinach and japanese tofu. Yum!
Not sure if thats enough Protein but definitely no carbs and so filling.
Like your chicken recipe will try that as well.
