  1. Nice! Thank you, I was looking for an edit button but didn't realise you had to select the text first.
  2. I saw someone on here mention that directly after surgery some of the drugs she was on had caused that problem, are you any medications? Could they be the culprit?
  3. A little late to this post, but have any of you seen the documentary 'Fed Up'? If you haven't I think it doe a good job of explaining how the different types of food/calories affect the body in an easy to understand way.
  4. argh, I don;t know how to edit all the mistakes I've just noticed in my typing...
  5. While I understand the frustrations of seeing a question that to you may have an obvious answer, I would say that not everybody may be fortunate enough to have the same amount of prep as you, particularly if they're self funding somewhere other than the US. Also, the post-op diet is not standardized across the board, so instructions may vary hugely (hence some of the confusion). I haven't seen the post about the hot dog and milk, but I would guess from the poster's perspective a hot dog would be Protein and chocolate milk wouldn't/shouldn't affect their body any more harshly than Protein shakes? Yes, sometimes things that seem like they should be obvious common sense do get put out there, but given that you're right, we all are told to ask questions, perhaps try and be more patient with those questions that aren't as obvious to everyone, and utilize the back button when you can't be.

    Am I Nuts?

If you're feeling unsure I would say change! If your insurance covers another office and you've got results etc there is no need to have this extra worry on top of your others. You're going to need support, there is no reason to put up with a group that doesn;t want to support you.

    Blog share

I'd love some blogs to read too. Seeing the ones that have made it to goal are great, but I'd love someone at the beginning of their journey to follow. I have a blog ready with a couple of posts, but as I'm still int he planning stage it won't have actual surgery stuff on it until next year.

    Feeling down post op

Chin up, from what I read this is pretty normal. It's totally acceptable to put yourself on a time out or a while if you think it will help you!

    Peppermint extract

Hmm, I hadn't thought about adding extracts like mint to chocolate shakes, but if it helps mask the protein taste I'll definitely keep it in mind once I get to that point, sounds delicious.

New body, new set of problems

When you say conflicting arguments, how so? You say on paper you look pretty good, but the point of this very post is that you don't feel that way, so while it may not have caused much damage to your numbers thus far, it's obviously affecting you. Across the board the common factors for everyone have been Protein, Vitamins and Water, I don't see how that could not apply to you too? You still eat chips and Cookies, now could you possible get the nutrients you need from them? It's entirely possible (even likely going by your descriptions of your experience) that the doctors you are seeing may not be the right fit for you, but that doesn't mean that the underlying premise of living with this surgery is going to be different if you change. You have to live within your program, otherwise you will continue to strain yourself, body and mind.

New body, new set of problems

Sometimes the medical profession you speak to is wrong for you for whatever reason, go get a second opinion from someone and hopefully you'll get appropriate help for you. The 'frailness' you're describing is most likely from the lack of proper nutrients and Water, which would also affect your skin and the 'aging' look your describing. I would look into a therapist of some kind to help you get in control of the reasons why your sabtoaging by not eating the correct protein/water/vitimins. It's kind of chicken and the egg here. Were you deperessed before you started ignoring the eating plan, or was the fact that you ignored the eating plan (and the negative results described above) what caused the depression? It does seem like following doctors instructions in regards to eating would help your physical discomfort, which in turn would boost you mentally.
  12. I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but the UK seems to have better ranges for plus sized clothes, and I know from living abroad so much that quite a few of them do international shipping, so it may be worth checked out websites outside of the US. (If you use UK check the size guides, american sizes are one down from us, so a 12 american is a 14 UK, but obviously sizes change from store to store). Some stores, like yours clothing, will even let you select dollars as currency so you don;t have to guess.

    Surgery blogs

Thanks for your answers guys! Unfortunately internet in my little city in Indonesia is not good, so streaming videos is kind of problematic. I can do it on my phone (which is faster) but it uses up my data. For that reason written blogs are more appropriate for me. Thank you for sharing though, if I do get an opportunity for a more stable connection I'll check things out. Does anyone know of any written blog that are early in the process?

    Surgery blogs

I know there are a lot of blogs out there by people who have gone through the surgery, but most of the blogs I've found on my searches are from people who are quite far post-op and either at goal weight or a few years in. I was wondering if anyone could give links to newer bloggers who are perhaps pre-op but near, or recently post-op? Thanks very much.
