  1. I didn't even bother to step on a scale until 10 or 11 days post op and was down 15 pounds by then. Just keep doing what you need to do to get in your Protein, liquids and Vitamins. The rest will take care of itself.

Didn't follow 2 week liquid diet:(

Mine didn't even ask me if I was successful with the liver shrinking diet. My team made sure that I had shakes for most of the week before hand. Others that had been through the process had donated the shakes needed and they distributed them. Do you think your team might be able to help?

Going to the emergency room finally

I would call their office as soon as they are open and then show up and sit there!

    Protein shakes?

They all seem to have a smell to them. My NUT said to try drinking them from a cup with a lid. You might try that.

How are the Post op people doing?

Bypass on 6/6 so three weeks out tomorrow. Spent 2 nights in in the hospital and was ready to come home. 2 weeks of liquids and started pureed 6/20, also was back to work. Things have been going well, seem to be able to tolerate most the foods I have tried. Taste buds have changed some, can't stand Tuna, which I used to love. May have to try it again later. Also seem to have more energy. Finally figuring out head hunger vs actual hunger but still have to battle with wanting to eat when I am tired. I am super happy with my decision, diabetes is in better control, way down on the number of pills I have to take and some of my aches and pains are gone with the 24 pounds lost so far.

    June Surgery

Surgery was 6/6/16 and went well. Surgery started late (scheduled for 11 AM didn't go back to OR until 1 PM). Of course by then I was hungry and thirsty! Was in recovery for 2 hours then taken to my room at 6 PM. I sent my boyfriend home at 9 since I was just drifting in and out. Got up to use the bathroom with assistance at shift change about 8 PM. Had the nurses help me to the restroom each time they were in to do meds and vitals. Got up to walk on Tuesday. I did well with the water and had my popsicle each meal. After the initial bowl of broth I couldn't even stand the smell of it. It was soooo salty. Walked a couple of circles around the unit Wednesday and took a shower. Felt better after the shower. Dr released me 6 PM Wednesday. Picked up prescriptions and got home. Spent Thursday & Friday taking it easy. The pain killer knocked me out so I was napping every 4 hours. Pain was not horrible but definitely uncomfortable for sleeping. Have just been sleeping overnight the last couple nights without any Tylenol. I get to start blended foods tomorrow and it's back to work Monday. Overall, happy with the results. Already down 18 pounds! Since I have not been able to lose more than 5 and then put it and more back on for over 20 years I am overjoyed! I can't wait until it is really visible! To all those with surgery upcoming, prayers for an easy recovery and the quick passage of time prior!
  7. I am looking forward to being able to pull my knees up to my chest (to paint my toes), comfortably get on the floor to play with my dogs and get back up on my own. I want to walk every where and not get winded. I want to fit in airline and car seats comfortably. I am looking forward to shopping for new clothes in my own closet as I have some wonderful clothes that are too small for me to wear! I look forward to seeing my jawline and cheek bones again. They have been gone way too long!
