My surgeon told me something I didn't know - the sleeve has actually been around longer than people think. He said that the sleeve surgery is really the first part of the bypass surgery and that with people who were super large they would do the sleeve, give them 6-8 months and then do the rest of the surgery for the bypass.
What they found was that the people were losing decent amounts of weight with the sleeve, so they started doing just the sleeve without the 2nd surgery. And then the sleeve started being really popular.

Can you take a walk? If so, get up and take a short walk. Go to the bathroom. Fill your Water bottle.
Try to drink Water when you feel like eating.
Is there a task you can do?
Clean out a drawer or file?
    Delete some email?
    Make a list?
    Make a schedule?
Do some stretching and/or desk calisthenics?
    Return phone calls?
It depends on your work environment how creative you can get.

You have to find something else do to. A small task or even something simple like putting a rubber band on your wrist and snapping it when you get the urge to snack. Keep a water bottle nearby and sip.

I am still in the pre-op phase of dieting. I am doing what my nutritionist recommended and can't have any weight gain prior to insurance approval.
I am really struggling with eating of boredom or "mindless" eating. I have a desk job and used to just snack during the day while at work. I'm stuck at my desk and it's a real struggle to not think about food. I feel hungry, but think it's just mind hunger, if that makes sense.
Anyone have any tips on how to get past this?

I'm just starting the process, had my initial consult with my surgeon and NUT on 9/9/15(they're both great!) I am one of the lucky ones that has a 6 month SWL program to complete so I'm not where near knowing my surgery date. My mind is racing on so many topics, I don't even know where my focus should be! I'm worried about the insurance approval process the most. I know this post is kinda all over the place but that's how I feel! Anyway, I'm looking forward to picking the brains of those who've already been sleeved and hopefully meeting some newbies who are freaking out just starting the process like me! I'm so nervous I don't even know what to ask first! So..... Ill just say "Hi" to start!!!!!

I asked that question on my first visit. I had a 3 month pre-op diet like you. They told me 5 months. My first consult was January 26 and my surgery was June 4 just over 4 months.

I started my process and May and my surgery is in the middle of this month. So about 5 months. My insurance required a 90 day multi-disciplinary program and life got in the way. Definitely was a longer than 90 days

My insurance requires three months of nutrition counseling, at one visit per month. That gives me time to make sure all the needed tests, bloodwork, psych apt, chest xray, etc are done by my last NUT appt, so then the Dr can submit for final approval from insurance and then they said maybe a month from there before I get my surgery. I understand your anxiousness, I'm experiencing that too!

Hi- I'm just starting the process and have a 6 month requirement for insurance purposes. As excited and anxious as I am, I'm glad to be able to meet with the exercise physiologist and nutritionist so I am able to learn how to eat and be healthy for the New Me. My birthday is in March (will be 44) so I'm giving myself the ultimate present- my life back. Good luck to you. Anyone out there looking at a March 2016 date?

Thank you for the advise and input. I am hoping it will not take that long. I have all my appointments lined up. I am required to have three month diet regimen. Fingers crossed. I have learned so much info in the past hour. This site is very helpful,
