Can you imagine coming home from sleeve surgery and weighing 17 pounds MORE than you did on the day of surgery? Well, that happened to me. I have had several stalls in the 8 months since my surgery, but I know that eating right, drinking the recommended amount of Water and daily exercise will keep me healthy and will see me to my goal.
You hang in there and don't let the numbers defeat you.

    I gained 7-8 pounds when I became post-op.
It took about 5 days before is started to come back down. I've been very strict on adhering to my surgeons instructions.
He laughed and said it's simply inflammation and Fluid from the IV and to not pay attention for a couple weeks.
After that 5th day its been coming off at a rate of 1.5 lbs per day.
You are likely just swollen a bit. The fact that you are 5 pounds down this soon is amazing.
Any day now you are going to be off to the races.

I gained 7 pounds after surgery. It took me just over a week to get that 7 pounds off and start losing actual weight. My surgery was on the 10th and I am down 16 pounds (23 if u count the Water weight). I agree with everyone else, it will happen ☺

This may sound weird, but be taking something in constantly. Drink Water, drink a shake, drink water have a Jello, drink water have a shake. Once your surgery is done you will literally have to sip ALL day. I am a week and half post op and have yet to be able to get all my water in even though I sip between shakes, jello, and broth. If you get in this habit now it will be easier after surgery, it also makes you feel fuller.

Sure have and I love 'em.
They blend well with chocolate or vanilla Protein powders, too. Excellent product.
It's one of 4 that is on my NUT's approved list.
I have mine as my first shake in the morning.
Exceptional flavor. Both the regular and the mocha are great.

I tried Decaf a week after surgery and that lasted a week til i switched to regular drip coffee. I drink 1 cup a day in the morning with no problems.

The pre-op liquid diet is no fun.
It was the hardest part about it for me.
Since my October 13th surgery, I am having 3 Protein shakes a day and lots of Water. I'm having no problem getting it all down and the 3 shakes are plenty of food to keep me from being hungry. No problems whatsoever.
I see zero problems whatsoever with staying on this course for a couple more weeks until the next stage.
My surgeon is very strict on the 2-week pre-op liquid diet and continued post-op 4-week liquid diet. When I was doing the pre-op 2-week deal I hit a wall about halfway through and wondered how the heck I'd be able to make it. No kidding.
Now, though, I have zero doubts I'll make it.
The surgery truly does work. Appetite is less. Hunger is all but gone. There is no urge to snack or graze. The weight.......it is falling off.
It is a medical miracle. I'm very grateful and hopeful.
I no longer see my surgeon as being overly strict. I see him as cautious and safe.
The pre-op is tough......just take it one day at a time....don't look too far ahead. Get through it and KNOW that it truly does get easier.

I agree with OKCpirate. I went through all the hoops for a lap band back in 2011. After 18 months I had only lost 3 pounds following the instructions to a tee. I had it removed and planned on doing the VGS, but during the 6 months of doing the hoops all over again my bmi fell below 40 and I no longer qualified. I gave up. About 6 weeks ago I decided I wanted to do it. Contacted my insurance and found out my out of pocket would be $13k AND I still had to do all the hoops, so I reconsidered going to mexico. Started my internet research and two weeks later I was scheduled. Both my husband and I had the surgery on the same day a few hours apart and are recovering together. We had a suite together. I will admit I was scared, but it all went very smoothly.

Tell them you are on the Atkins diet and can't eat Mexican since it has too many carbs. Take your Protein Shake, ask for a Water and enjoy the birthday. You don't have to tell everyone you had wls just because your diet is different.
