Charged for 6 Month Med Supervised Diet??
dm5201 replied to nallygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bubbles, There should not be a problem. Insurance will go off of what your first weigh-in was with the surgeon's office. -
How long was your journey from 1st Dr.'s visit to surgery?
dm5201 replied to che4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nearly a year. By the time I went to the presentation, did the psych and nutrition eval, and then a 6 month supervised diet; waited on insurance which took approximately 21 days. I'm having surgery the 24th of August! -
Thanks for your quick reply there BeachBunny! I'll switch up my liquid diet from my current 23 g of protein to the Isopure and finish out my 11 days...
-
Thanks a lot for your quick reply there, BeachBunny! I'll change up my liquid diet to Isopure and I know it has a lot more protein than my 23 g of protein shakes. I have another week and two days to do!

Pre-surgery Counseling Approval
dm5201 replied to Michsha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to another psych doctor that is familiar with weight loss surgery! Get the heck away from that person and get on with the life you want! -
Beachbunny, how long have you been on that pre-op diet? I'm replacing breakfast and lunch with a high protein shake, and then for dinner, I have either a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones frozen dinner. I think I need to switch to the Isopure!

Im banded!!!! - August Rush 2010
dm5201 replied to shadena32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Shadena for your op day report! Sorry you are in pain though. Like you, I don't have much fat around the middle. Hummm, wondering about that port site. Not only that, but I've watched a few Lap-Band surgeries on line. After the the surgeon makes his cut, he is really going in there with his hand and bluntly moving stuff around. No wonder the port site is so painful! My surgery is Aug. 24 and I'm counting down the days! Thanks again for your detailed report. I hope you get to feeling better as each day passes! -
No. I've only told 3 people.

I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet. I want some bar-b-cue with steak fries...

I bought some new shakes last night (frosty chocolate) at Target. They are called Eat Good. Look Great. Pure Protein with 23 g of protein, 120 c, and 1 g of sugar. I was pleasantly surprised at how great they tasted and it was 12 oz.

I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I get banded in 13 days! I'm marking the days off of my calendar. I'll get banded on a Tuesday and I have taken Monday off just to have bouts of high anxiety. -
I would say that's a mistake because insurance usually gives the expiration date of one year out. Call insurance...

can someone give me info on pre-op liquid diet
dm5201 replied to jigglebutt1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a two-week pre-op diet. I have surgery the 24th of August. I have two high protein shakes per day and then for dinner I have either a Smart Ones or a Lean Cuisine. I do tend to get hungry about 9 pm and have cheated with crackers. I can have Crystal Lite, and sugar-free frozen popsicles. Hope that helps, and all surgrical groups are different. -
Can we blend/puree any soup to make it liquid?
dm5201 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a knock off of the Magic Bullet and bought the JC Penney's brand. I love it. -
Hello all! I haven't been on here for a while and it looks like things are picking up if you know what I mean. I went yesterday for some "teaching" and received a large amount of information that I ended up leaving behind. I go for my physical on the 16th and surgery is on the 24th. I'm on day 2 of the pre-op diet and I'm going to take it 1 day at a time. I do have a headache today, not sure if it's from the diet or the people I work with LOL! Catch up with everyone soon. Thanks for all of your posts.

HELP. please put me at ease by answering...
dm5201 replied to peacelives10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you have done what insurance has required, which is 3 monthly visits and you have done them consectively, which it looks like you have. You should have no problem! -
Speedy recovery to those of you having surgery this week! Mine is the 24th and I start a two-week pre-op diet next Monday. I'm going to try my darndest not to cheat.

I'm gong to be banded on Aug. 24 and I have some anxiety every now and then. I have chosen not to tell anyone but my husband and one co-worker. I don't want to be scruitinized by everyone watching how many bites I take or the food that I'm eating. I don't want to be asked how much weight have I lost and so on.

Anyone have apnea and not use their cpap machine
dm5201 replied to LostInSideMyself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a CPAP machine for quite a while and don't use it. I dust it off occasionally. I do remember one time that I had to take enough drugs to knock me out for the night and I did leave the mask on all night. I woke up the next morning and felt terrific, something that I have not experienced before! There is something to it, but getting used to it is another story. When I do use it, I pull it off in the middle of the night. They say that even a few hours with the CPAP is beneficial. -
Good morning everyone from the Midwest! I happily will join the rest of you for support and conversation. I will be banded on August 24. I had to do a 6-month diet to satisfy insurance. I will be doing a 2-week diet of two protein shakes at breakfast and lunch and then a Weight Watchers type frozen dinner. Pretty much the same liquids as everyone else ie Crystal Light and so on.
