My Hair is falling :(
I lost about 1/3 of my hair between 4-6 months out from my surgery. The hair loss stopped at 6 months, and appears to be growing back.

Can Gastric Bypass Surgery Put Diabetes in Remission?
I had normal blood glucose levels, without medication, within 48 hours of my RNY. I'm now 9 months out, and continue to be fine.

Relationships
I've had to get used to getting lots of compliments. It's certainly done wonders for my relationship with my husband.

Has anyone found the journey after surgery easy?
I'm just over 3 months out from surgery. Anyone who tells you this is the "easy way out" hasn't had a gastric bypass. Eating is an uncomfortable chore for me. It's as if I've lost my best friend: FOOD. I remind myself daily, hourly if need be, that I am no longer diabetic, my blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides are now normal, and I can shop for clothing anywhere. I'm working on taking things day at a time.

3 days Post op, thinking about FOOD!
I'm 9 days post op and had the same problem. My stomach wasn't hungry, but my brain and nose and mouth were starving. I think it's a sign that we're doing really well. Take it one day at a time. It was so wonderful to move to my second week diet. Remember, solid food is coming down the pike eventually. Good luck!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Quick update. It's been one week since my rny bypass. I *was* diabetic. My blood sugar is now completely normal, and I've been off medication since 2 days before my surgery. This was my primary goal. I'm overjoyed, to say the least! So is my primary doctor!

October List of Surgery's
Yes, I'm able to drink the protein drinks although I don't like them. Drinking water, too. I'm not taking in as much as recommended, but coming as close as I can. I'm definitely not dehydrated. I advanced from my week 1 clear liquids diet to my week 2 full liquids (4 days early) because I couldn't stand it anymore. I plan to confess to my surgeon at my follow up appointment. I'm able to slowly eat 1/3 cup of Trader Joe's puréed black bean soup. My mouth and brain are much happier now. No real hunger to speak of. Just couldn't take the boredom.

Slogging along. Trying to adjust to my new limitations while not letting myself get dehydrated. Still a little sore. Taking it one day at a time. Very much looking forward to progressing to full liquids in a couple of days. Onward and upward!- Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Thanks! I will just trust in the process and keep trying my best.- Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
I'm home now. No real pain, just a little sore. I feel full just trying (won't succeed today) to take in the minimum amount of protein drinks and water. So far, so good!- October List of Surgery's
I've walked my hospital floor x3 with my trusty IV pole, I'm off Dilaudid, and I just sipped my first medicine cup of cold water. Things are going well, so far. Oh, and I'm not hungry.- Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
I'm doing well. Having pain, but also getting great pain meds. So far, so good.- Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Thank you! Don't know how much sleep I'll get, but will try my best.- October List of Surgery's

This Friday, October 2, is my surgery date. Excited, and a little nervous because reading about what this journey may be like is quite different than experiencing it first-hand. - October List of Surgery's
