  1. Dr. Rezvani is in the same practice as Dr. Halmi at Blue Point Medical Associates but I cannot find any information about him on the boards here. Has anyone had Dr. Rezvani as their bariatric surgeon? My consult with him is scheduled for Thursday, but without any referrals or reviews, I am second guessing and may want to wait for Dr. Halmi. Thank you for any feedback you have!

How are you doing? Did you get a private room? Thank you for checking in! Yes! I requested one during the pre-op work and was told "we'll see...I don't know how many they have..." but you were right that there seemed to be a ton! I only saw one or two shared rooms and they were so small...I would have lost my mind!

    Hi. I'm Dawn

My surgeon told me it is because that incision was where he did the most manipulation. None of my other incisions hurt at ALL. Just that one! You could use a walking stick or cane to help you ease yourself to sitting or kneeling to help your dog or you may even find that you can bend just fine. I'd definitely have a backup plan just in case
  4. I started off in the Sleeve forum but after days of research, I believe RNY is better for me since I have GERD. Hi all, I'm Dawn and just turned 40. I have been over 230 pounds since 2002. That's the year I got married and moved to Texas (San Antonio) where Tex Mex food became my best friend. I have been every size and have tried every diet. I got down to my smallest adult size when I was 21 and went from a 12 to a 4 in 2 months because I was a nanny at the beach. I walked, rode my bike, swam, walked on the beach, played with the kids and ate light because I was so busy...and the weight melted off of me without even trying. Why can't it do that again!? I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005 and have not been able to get it under control. I did lose about 35 lbs after I had my first child. I ran a half marathon, started yoga, and got down to my lowest weight (in a long time!) of 206. Then I got pregnant with my second and just let myself pile the weight back on. I've been at about 250 since 2013. Despite my weight woes, I stay active and go to boxing 3x a week, walk, and go to yoga when I can fit it in. I also do Beachbody Body Pump and other at-home workout dvds. It's the eating that is just not under control! I went for a free seminar with a local surgeon in May but didn't continue after that visit. I meet with a different surgeon on Thursday for an actual consult and I am so freaking excited. I have two little girls who are 4 1/2 and almost 2. My 4 year old has made innocent comments such as "is there a baby in your belly?" and "why is your tummy so big?" and I have had to fight to stay composed and not break down in front of her. I don't want her to think I am ashamed. I don't say the word fat around her and never want her to know that word...but the reality is that I am miserable and unhealthy and not a good example for my own daughters. The other night at bedtime, she called me a heifer/heffer. She has no idea what it means and I have no idea where she learned that word - but I started thinking "did one of her friends at daycare call me that?" I am doing this for ME but I do not want my children to suffer teasing or be embarrassed because they have a fat mom. I work full time from home as a government contracts program manager. I work for a wonderful company that is flexible so now is the right time to get this started. I discussed with my husband and he fully supports me. He has loved me at every weight and I couldn't do it without his support! Thank you all for sharing your stories and experiences so freely here. I hope to add to the knowledge and conversation as my journey moves forward. <3
  5. First let me say that I'm not *really* hungry. I know it's in my head. But another week of liquids may cause me to lose my mind. I've been eating approved organic low fat cream Soups to help. My RNY was 2-17 and I am following my surgeon's plan to the letter so please know I have no plans to cheat...I know the risks and they are obviously not worth it. I guess my questions are - what got you through this first of many mental battles? What were your go-to liquids post-op? Thank you!
  6. Thank you! Yes, Fairlife milk is saving me too! I put 1/2c in my decaf tea, 1/2c in my decaf coffee...[emoji51]

    Congrats!!! Wooooohoooo!
  8. Thank you so much everyone! The support on here is amazing. I had some Fairlife skim milk with SF chocolate syrup - kind of hot chocolate- and it was great.

    Hi. I'm Dawn

Yes, I had bypass pain is manageable! Left side hurts the most & especially after standing or sitting up for more than 10 minutes or so. I take a small walk every day and have to use the bathroom frequently so I'm up & down stairs a lot too. Bending over is the worst so I try very hard to limit it! ️ @@NewLife1985 thank you so much!
  10. I am most excited for refried beans with a little low fat cheese (allowed by my NUT)!! Maybe a drizzle of enchilada sauce also can't wait for chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad....one more week!

    Hi. I'm Dawn

Hi guys, thanks for checking on me! I had surgery in 2/17! I was in the hospital for 2 nights and have been home now for 2.5 days. Biggest hurdle in hospital was the transition from IV pain meds to oral pain meds. Way less potent and tasted gross but definitely still needed. I haven't had too much trouble at home...gas moved out after a night of cramps, I'm moving around better each day, and even took a little walk outside today. I'm able to get my water & protein in with no problems so I'm very thankful for that.

    Helps with PCOS?

Thank you for the hope! Did anyone else regularly take PPIs (medium, Prilosec etc)-I just read that they can cause magnesium deficiency which can cause PCOS. I started taking PPIs and my PCOS symptoms started after that. Could be coincidence but something to watch. Hopefully no more PPIs after surgery & just overall better health I'm in the same boat. ❤️ Glad you're doing well!

What do you have to take? I have a chewable multi & calcium chew - I have to take both throughout the day but only those two types.
  16. Yes definitely try again! My insurance company told me they work over the weekend on these approvals so maybe yours does too! <3
  17. Two days to go. I can't believe it! So happy so many of you are on the loser's bench and doing well!
  18. Today is Day 13 of 14 and I've lost just under 12 pounds. BUT I gained about 10 before starting the pre-op (the holidays and to many food funerals...). I think I'll lose another 2-3 pounds by Wednesday since I'm on all liquids now. I could have the pre-op bars I guess if I wanted but they taste like chalk so I'll just stick to broth and jello!

    Helps with PCOS?

I also have PCOS and pray for relief from the facial hair and thinning hair on my head!!!! Surgery in 3 days!

    Is it worth it?

@ Thank you times a million for this answer. I feel so similar. My rny is in four days. I was trying to explain this to my mom - that I just have this bottomless pit of hunger that never feels satisfied. I cannot wait to not be hungry. To be satisfied and satiated after a few bites of something wonderful. I'm really nervous and excited but your post really brought home what I am feeling and what I hope my results are as well
  22. I wasn't sure either! It looks like a type of juice or juice drink? http://shop.coles.com.au/online/national/drinks/all-drinks/cordials-mixers

I'm in Stafford! My surgery is scheduled for 2/17. I'm at Fair Oaks too - and really really hoping for a private room, yikes! I don't think I've ever shared a hospital room.
