  1. Hi! I experienced the same exact thing the first six months after my surgery. After going to several doctors my chiropractor, I learned that my nerves were returning and gaining sensation. I was so worried that I injured myself. I was learning to walk again properly ( regaining strength) and my body was numb from all the weight I was carrying. My doctor prescribed Melixacam and it helped tremendously. Hope this helps.

    Depressed

Well, I can honestly say I was in your exact feeling last year. My RNY was in Nov 2015. But Feb of 2016 I felt that way. Like..... what did I just do to my body? Now as I type this I'm sitting pool side in a bikini feeling amazing. Yes I know what I can and can not eat. And my body responds like I always wish it did. Don't give up and think about your health. It's not worth the pizza slut ( yes I call it that) because it's not worth it. Your body needs healthy nourishment. Not that junk. Some day you'll test the waters and realize it isn't worth it! Nauseous all the time

I had the same issue since my surgery in November. Not sure if we have the same exact issues but after starting a week of Prilosec that helped tremendously with the nausea. Maybe if your friend can take that. It's been amazing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. After my surgery I can admit some slight depression for a week or two. But after the weight comes off and your energy increases you get that spark back. I now feel beautiful and it has boost my confidence. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not there yet but I can see the changes happening. Good luck!
  7. I struggle too with the protein. The one thing that I enjoy is the Isopure Apple melon drinks. They sell them at gnc but the best price is Amazon. The milky protein was really hard to get down at first. This is a clear liquid. And I usually do little paper cups and try and drink one Dixie cup every half hour. They have 40 gms of protein.

    Gas pains post op

Gas x strips didn't help me. The best thing I found was simtheicon chewables. They really helped a lot. The gas subsided for me at around 2 weeks post op
  9. I'm 11 days post op gastric bypass. This morning I've been experiencing abdominal flutters on my left side. Very similar to baby flutters during pregnancy. (There is no chance of pregnancy) Has anyone experienced this? In assuming has moving through.
  10. Jenislosingit, I had the same exact experience. Two units of blood and felt so sluggish after being discharge. My doctor recommended Iron to help get my energy back. Just keep hydrated and the pain will subside.

    Surgery date set!

    We share the same date!
  14. First day back! Surgery was the 10th. They brought me back around 7:30 am for the procedure. Everything was good until they wheeled me up to the room. I started walking right away like they explained. I was so nauseous but I pushed myself. Ended up with a pca pump with morphine. Pain was at a good level. Walked again then felt a wave of nausea out of now where. Ended up vomiting about 60 cc of blood then 30 cc in front of the surgeon. They sent me back down for an endoscopy. They had cauterize a few areas. Ended up with two blood transfusions but overall I feel great now. Walking daily is a big help.

Going to be a big week!

Awesome! My surgery date is today! I'll check out your videos! How are you feeling after?
  16. I'm scheduled for today! Finally this day has arrived. Excited! Can't wait for the change!
  17. I've been on the pre-op diet for a month now. Ever since they scheduled my surgery I've been slacking with my meals. Pretty much haven't been following it all weekend. I feel awful physically of course. And I'm regretting my mistakes. My surgery is next Tuesday. Has anyone else been through this? I really need to try harder.
  18. For the past month I've followed the plan accordingly. Don't know why I've slipped. Yes I have lost 15 pounds with the pre-op plan. It allows me veggies except potatoes, corn and Beans. Just this weekend has been bad! I don't have to worry about insurance cancelling because I am a self pay. Just need to stay focused and on track.

    surgery date

    I finally have a date!! Nov 10th!
  20. I'm in desperate need of some shake recipes. I can only use the whey protein isolate. I purchased the nectar- unflavored protein. Anyone have any recipes to share. I'm not allowed any fruit which has always been a way to flavor things before. Thanks
  21. This is my first appointment today with the dietician today! I'm so excited but I know the clear liquid diet is coming soon!!! What questions did you wish you asked at your appointment. I'm drawing a blank with questions at the moment.
  22. Completely understand where you're coming from. My husband has also been distant lately too. Not sure what is his deal either. Might be the upcoming change is worrying him. Maybe he is worried you will outgrow him? I try not to let it bother me. Kinda pick my battles. Keep positive and maybe bring your 14 year old to a nutrition appointment. I can't wait to start the support groups. Need others to talk to that are struggling with the same issues.
  23. I am not nervous about the surgery, but nervous on how to manage the kids afterwards. Thankfully I have a teenage daughter thats very helpful but she has a ton of school work every day. What kind of things did you do ahead of time to make this recovery period easier? I've so far laid out plans for the kids to be picked up to/from school from neighbors. I would appreciate anything you could think of. My kids are 15, 7,7 and 4. My surgery will be sometime the end of October.
  24. Mine too, we should stay connected!!! I'm so new to this! you can add me on Facebook! Jen Silkou
