I used it 15 years ago. I was heavy, but I don't think it had anything to do with the depo. No other side effects. Loved that it stopped my period all together . Be careful when you come off it. I was told it would be months until I could get pregnant, but it only took a month.

Are Protein Bars even worth it?
BCs 1000 replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I had my first bar recently, so at around 6 months post op. I feel no restriction, it is similar to eating a cookie. They contain a lot of artificial sweetener, so afterwards I actually want to eat more. They live in my work drawer and I only have one if I am racing off to meetings where I know I will end up missing out on lunch if I don't grab something now. I never eat them when I have time to access more food after. Not only are they not satiating, they are as dangerous as bread for me in terms of triggering overeating. -
Make sure it isn't full of sugar would be my advice. The bars I buy contain 185 calories, 20g Protein, 5g carbs and 1g sugar. The shake of the same brand has more protein and half the calories, so I do try to have a shake rather than a bar, but sometimes you want to chew!

Disclaimer - This is just a Friday night bit of fluff, not a serious nutritional question. I have read on these forums that our bodies can only absorb a maximum amount of Protein in one hit. So what about carbs & calories? If I ate a lot of calories in one go, would my body not be able to absorb them all? Would my body absorb less of 500 calories if I ate it in one go than if I spread it out over five days? Or is this just wishful thinking? I am craving a really big icecream Specifically a Baskin Robbins Rocky Road. I had one 15 years ago and all of a sudden I can't stop thinking about it. I am not even sure it still exists.

I just ran 10.5km. Surely that warrants it [emoji14]

Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
BCs 1000 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 5'1 and wear a 4, but I still have a fair bit of fat on my abdomen. I have a few more pounds to get to goal so I figure I will land at a size 2. -
I split it into 5 meals. 1. Optifast shake 2. salad w/tsp oil & balsamic vinegar 3. Optifast soup 4. Stir fry veg (no oil) 5. Optifast bar

My preop diet was Optifast. So Optifast X 3 plus two serves of specific vegetables and 1tsp olive oil. The best thing was that the Optifast came in shakes, Soup and bars.

Hi there. I have linked Map My Run with My Fitness Pal. In my MFP news feed it lists my run and that I burned 530 calories, but it isn't adding to the calories at the top of the diary page. Any ideas what I have done wrong? TIA
-
Fixed! MFP was picking up steps from my iPhone. I have disabled the logging of steps, so all sorted.
-
Thank you. I don't know why it would pick it up in the newsfeed, but in the diary. I have set the goals, no change. I have googled, but all the trouble shooting I have tried doesn't change it. Running 10km tonight so will see if it shows up.

When I was morbidly obese I had some terrible falls. A tiny bump in the footpath would catch my toe and I would come crashing down on my hands and knees. This morning while walking and emailing (yes, stupid) I tripped on a speed hump on the road. My body tipped really far forward and I waited for the pain. Instead, my body totally corrected itself. I wish I could describe the feeling better. It was like my body had total control. My brain said stay upright and my body complied. It was exhilarating.

128lbs this morning. Thanks Sarah. Ohhh, just realised I reached 50% weight loss today, 256 to 128. I am exactly 50% the weight I was preop. I have lost half of me :)

How the hell do I get through this?
BCs 1000 replied to befitnotskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did find it got much easier after the first three days. Keep busy and go to bed early. And keep focussed on where you are headed. This is the start of your very exciting journey. -

102 lbs gone babeeee! Post-op GB 35 weeks
BCs 1000 replied to heather5565's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My neck is the worst of my loose skin problems. I was positive I would need plastic surgery. But in the last few weeks it does seem to be tightening up, so there is hope. I am over 40 also. -

Maintenance behaviors that keep you successful?
BCs 1000 replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@enjoythetime 1000-1300 calories a day is low. We have almost identical stats, so this worries me. I have been consuming way less than 1000 per day, but this is in weight loss mode. Having to be below 1300 calories forever is quite daunting I suppose I won't know until I get there. -
How to satisfy a burger craving during soft foods:
BCs 1000 replied to sanjumelts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nice. I like your thinking, it will serve you well in your journey I actually have a list of substitutes for cravings which I go to when I get the urge to eat something from my previous life. I has saved me many times. -
I am a fan of burnt popcorn too. I honestly thought I was the only one.
