So, yesterday, I began to chat with a guy on a dating site. He fits all of my criteria. His second message asks "What's your figure like?" My response was to tell him that it's changing....surgery, etc. And that I have had 5 children, and finally "curvy" is my best description. He proceeds to ask again.... I am thinking he wants my bra size... I entertained a whole bunch of his other very personal, sexual questions. Then decided enough is enough and told him I wasn't comfortable discussing these things with someone I don't know. Conversation abruptly ended. This is typical of my online dating experiences.

Time off work
RILEYSMOM22 replied to soontobesleeved92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon would have released me after 2 wks. I know some people go back after 1. I felt ok after 1 wk, just had difficulty getting fluids and Protein in. LIfting is restricted for me til 6 wks. -
Day 4 full liguids. PAIN.

I had those exact same symptoms...it improves as you heal. I am three weeks post-op and it only happens occasionally. I found warm liquids to be easier early on. -
Surgery is tomorrow! Nervous, scared and excited all at once

I had the same fear...but, I kept reading the stats on complications, etc. You will be fine. Good Luck!!! -

Have you chosen a surgeon? You can possibly do some of your testing, etc on the current insurance. -
My ins policy requires $1000 hospital co-pay plus $600 deductible. The $600 was satisfied by my pre-op testing and blood work, etc. Every insurance is different. They should be able to give you the details of your plan, which would allow you to estimate your out of pocket costs. Good luck!

I love my slow cooker, and with 5 kids (all grown now), I used it a lot. I always hated the clean-up! Then I discovered Reynolds slow cooker liners. They are plastic bags, (but don't melt) and when you are ready, just lift them out, leaving a clean crock-pot!

Day 4 full liguids. PAIN.
RILEYSMOM22 replied to OneLostJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried cream of wheat twice..... the discomfort wasn't worth trying it again. I still get major rumblings, even from water, although it has lessened quite a bit. -

Good for you! Keep us all posted. I am almost 3 wks post-op and feel somewhat normal again. I am down about 33lbs and my incisions are just fine lines on my tummy now. BTW, when I read your posts, my mind hears you with a brogue.... lol -
I could only get small amounts of liquids down for the first week or so. When he switched me to full liquids, yogurt went down fine, but Water still caused that pressure in my chest....like swallowing a golf ball. Then, just before 2 weeks post-op, it stopped. I can now drink fairly normally. I don't really get hungry, just feel a bit "empty" in the morning. The full feeling I get now (am on soft foods) is different than before surgery. It is almost painful. I can eat about 4oz. Before surgery, if I felt full and there was a small amount left on my plate, I would finish it. That isn't an option now. When I'm full....that's it....done.

Going back to work after surgery!
RILEYSMOM22 replied to haleymarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, if you are still on pain meds, you won't be able to drive. I had my surgery on Wednesday, home on Friday, (although the doc told me I could leave Thursday if I wanted). My surgeon kept me out of work a minimum of two weeks. I am an accountant, so nothing strenuous. He said he prefers people stay out 3 weeks just to get used to the new way of eating. Also, I was having a difficult time getting enough fluids. My daughter is getting married next weekend and I'm returning to work after that. -
At one point, I added "If you can't write a complete sentence, don't message me." to my dating site profiles.

Glad to hear I am not the only weirdo-magnet out there. I'm a little older than you and I believe in the 50-something age range, its even worse. The "I love you" on the second date guys...the alcoholics... etc. I also believe if a guy has never been married by this time, there is a reason.

I was told to avoid carbs and most artificial sweeteners. I drink plain Water most of the time and the only artificial sweeterner I use is stevia or occasionally sucralose.

I am hoping to be able to alter some things to avoid buying too much while I am morphing to my smaller size. -
Best federal insurance coverage for plastics?
RILEYSMOM22 replied to northmsgirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have been told that it is fairly easy to get the pannus removed because it is a health issue, but the upper abdomen is considered cosmetic and they won't cover it. In addition, many surgeons won't do one without the other. -
Driving First Week
RILEYSMOM22 replied to Cape Crooner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drove on day 4, but just home from my son's house. I hadn't taken any pain meds since I left the hospital on day 2. Then I drove 45mins to the hospital on day 7 to wait for my grandson to be born. It was fine. Then I drove to my post-op appt on day 10. I talked to them about driving and she said that as long as I wasn't taking pain meds, and am able to turn to look over my shoulders without pain, its fine. -
Any Doctor of Yours Hate Your Choice?
RILEYSMOM22 replied to ItsTheNewMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haha.... my primary. Although, now that it is done, she has stopped telling me about all the people who have regained their weight. Before surgery, she was telling me that I could lose the weight on my own....blah blah blah. She dragged her feet with all the paperwork, but finally, I got what I needed from her. -

I am still struggling with fluids too. Warm fluids and popsicles go down easiest. I graduated to soft foods, but its a very slow process. -
3 days post op
RILEYSMOM22 replied to jadesingslaaa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cold things seem to make my stomach spasm and result in much more gurgling sounds. I can drink warm broth quite easily. -

Surgery was the morning of. 9/23. Doc would have let me leave the next day, but I felt better staying one more day. I had nausea the first day or so, but it is gone now. I get twinges of pain and some gurgling when I drink. Everything stays down, so far.
