    50 lbs down!
  3. I am six months out and you can message me anytime. I am losing slowly with a 50 lb loss so far. SW was 216 and CW is 166.
  4. I started at 216 on Aug. 18 and just hit the 50 lb loss. I have been slow at losing, too. I just keep thinking what I will have lost by the one year mark and that makes me feel good.

    Looking beautiful! Great job!
  6. I have only lost 50 lbs and all my shoes are too big! I have lost between 1/2 size to a whole size. Just where I wanted to lose weight! LOL

When do you get to have crunch!

Totally agree with BarrySue! If you want crunch, have crunch! I find if I deny myself something I really want it becomes a big craving. I have been eating the 100 calorie bags of Skinny Pop popcorn and love it. I also eat the individual sized bags of Veggie Strips. They are ok.

    Any sleevers over 60?

I was sleeved in Aug, 2015 at age 62. I have never regretted it! I am now 63 and have lost 48 lbs, gone down two pants sizes and feel great. I am not doing anything special, still have one protein drink a day, usually for breakfast and drink water or Crystal Lights all the time. I started at 216 and am now 168. I feel great, have more energy and no longer walk into a crowd thinking people are noticing how fat I am! Your mother will do great!
  9. Have any of you watched the advertised documentary? I found it terribly depressing. I felt it to be sad that several of the young women were trying to convince themselves that being obese was a good thing. Also, so many were having the lap band and my surgeon will not even consider doing the band any more, feeling it did not offer the chance of success that the sleeve and by-pass surgeries provide . I can't pinpoint what else bothered me, but I need to read or watch something light and positive after watching that! Any thoughts???

    Calories

I am almost 4 months out and was never given a calorie limit/target. I was told to eat protein, lots of protein and stop eating when I feel full, which is still about 1/2 cup of anything. The only food I cannot tolerate is red meat, which I always loved. I think the texture of steak, roast beef, etc is just too much and careful chewing does not break it down. I find my daily calorie intake is in the 700-800 range.

    Yesterday was the big day!

Way to go! Glad all went well!
  13. I have lost 40 and seem to be slowing to a pound or two a week. It is depressing!
  14. Nope, it is never too late! I had mine done in August, two months before I turned 63. I have lost 40 lbs an 40 more to go!

    Best cookbook?

I have found some great recipes on Pinterest. Just search Bariatric Recipes.8
  16. My doctor never required that at all. My insurance required I be on a 3 month doctor supervised diet.
  17. I use Sparkpeople. I have it on my phone and iPad so no matter where I am it can sync. I love it because I can track weight, water, protein, calories and more. It even graphs my weight loss.
  18. Sherri, I had my surgery on 8/17 and did well with capsules after a month. One of my regular meds had been a timed telease cap and dr put me on two doses a day of the pill form. It did not work as well so after a month I went back to the old capsule and have had no problems. I was a HEAVY Diet Coke drinker - 4-5 cans a day. I drink Crustal Lights now for most of my liquids. I can't say that I really miss the DIet Coke, but I am sure I could get hooked again and FAST!! I am going to try and stay off any carbonated drinks as the dr told me to do. It just is not good for anyone.

Eating, Drinking, and Time In Between?

I was told no drinking 30 min before and after eating, but I have been taking small sips of water when I eat. I just cannot break that habit and it helps me to eat easier. I have not had any side effects from it.
  20. First of all, congratulations on leasving that relationship behind. I have been there and after 25 years I was able to get out. It is a tough road. I am now happily married to a wonderful man. Three weeks after my surgery he had a pacemaker installed and 10 days after that he was diagnosed with metastatic brain tumor. Talk aobut stress!! He is not under going radiation after brain surgery and tomorrow a biopsy on the spot on his lung wher the drs think the cancer started. Chemo starts next week, as well as treatment on the lung. ' One would think with all the time spent at the hospital for surgery, treatments and appointments with my husband, I would have been eating healthy, but so many of the foods there are not what I needed. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, sometimes with bits of tomato and or cucumber for added flavor. Breakfast is usually a protein shake. Premire Protein has 30 g of protein and I buy it at Sam's Club at a discount. Lunch varies: the cottage cheese, tuna salad in a small wheat tortilla, bean soup, or a scrambled egg. I cook dinner for my husband or we go out. I stick to grilled chicken, or just some of the protein in the meals I cook. After I get in the protein I am usually full. I have always been an evening snacker and if I need more protein I either have a small amount of nuts, cottage cheese, yogurt or string cheese. I have been staying around 700 calories with this and have lost 37 lbs since my sleeve on Aug. 18. I use the online SparkPeople site to track my foods (calories, protein, etc), water, and exercise, although exercise is mostly just walking on the treadmill as I generally stay close to husband at home during this ordeal. The daily tracking has really helped me. I also track my weight and have had several stalls. If a stall goes beyond 5 days, I increase my calories to 900-1000 for a couple days and I usually start to lose. I feel so uncomfprtable eating that much, but it pushes the weight loss. I feel for you and understand your stress and depression. Please message me any time you need to talk. I can be here for you no matter how far away!
