I have the opposite problem. Struggled to get fluids in (only 40 oz) but have had diarrhea for two days.
Had my hubby bring home Gatorade2 for electrolytes.
    Definitely calling the nurse tomorrow.

I had my two week post op appt on Monday. I got in trouble for not calling the office because I have been constantly nauseous since surgery. I am suppose to have 5, 2oz meals every day and then 48-60 oz of Water and 1 Protein Shake, on full liquids I was only averaging 3, 2oz meals and I never even got to the Protein shake, being nauseous sucks. I have been doing better since being able to have purred since yesterday. At my appt yesterday I am officially down 47lbs since the start of my journey and 16lbs since surgery. I don't know if I've stalled, I have only been weighing once, maybe twice a week. Anyway, everyone keep up the good work, and please drink your water, dehydration is no joke.

Just an update. Had my surgery on the 19th Like many, I have some serious health problems. One of the main reasons I decided to have gastric bypass surgery was because of diabetes. Mine is so insulin resistant that just a couple of months ago I was taking a maximum dose of Victoza, 70 units of Lantus a day and over 100 units of Novalog. Although some of those doses were decreased before surgery because I lost weight, This week I had a major breakthrough.
Sunday afternoon - almost two weeks after surgery - I started having low blood sugars. Yesterday I saw the endocrinologist and my dose of Lantus has been cut to 8 per day and Novalog on a sliding scale. She told me that within the month I should be off all insulin and my diabetes will be in remission!
I just wanted to share that as a victory because only a few months ago I was on a much different path. This is something I could never have done on my own and will always be a motivation when times are rough. What an amazing surgery!

Thanks. I agree with Water being nasty. I add crystal light pure to it. It's been my fav for a while. It's amazing how my appetite went bye-bye with my stomach. And that it took thirst with it.

@jhod I have found that Water is really hard for me to drink, but I do much better with broth or Powerade zero. I drank water before surgery almost exclusively, but now one sip of it causes a heavy feeling in my chest and I have at times felt nauseous I hope it gets better, but for now I do what I can to get the Fluid down. It can be difficult. I am two weeks and one day out from surgery.

I can't imagine leaving the house or even driving. Probably part of the depression.
I did set my alarm to beep every 15 min. Feeling a little stronger.
Thinking of having a more carbs, like from milk. Seems like I've taken them too low.
    Thanks everyone????

    I've been fine with cooking.
I got upset because my husband was going to order out because I had class. The fact that he was ordering out didn't bother me it was his list of possibilities he was rambling about. I said in the nicest possible way I didn't care I didn't want to know. But then he decided out loud he was getting pizza. That made me upset I got angry at first then sad and to top it off I'm not even a pizza person. Lol.

It's normal. This group is the best. Here want to feel better. My first cry was over a sportsbra.I have an incision between my breasts so I couldn't wear a regular bra and had to get a sportsbra no wire and barely any support.
I balled my eyes out because I felt it made my boobs look ugly and I had to leave the house like that.
It's funny now but it wasn't then.
The sadness passes and will before you know it.

I think everyone goes through a little depression. I know I did my hormones were everywhere except where they should have been.My surgeon said one sip wait 3 min take another sip if you can sip again in 3 min do it and keep that up until you can sip anymore, then wait 20min and try again if you cant then 30min.

No. Only after two sips I get the tightness. I'm completely repealed by food and drink. I know this will improve but I'm getting depressed.
I'm sipping today no matter what.
Scared of ending up back in the hospital.

In the beginning you feel like you don't want to do anything but deep down you know you have to. I would go to the store, just for little things Powerade zero or Vitamin Water zeros but enough for one day so I could do it again the next day. You feel better when you start moving more. You will get short of breath fast but take your time, it isn't a race. Your body is stronger than you initially think. Maybe even getting up to walk up and down a hallway or from room to room if the store feels like too much.I walked in the mall 3 days post op it took a lot out of me but I felt better. As far as sipping goes I think it's different for everyone, maybe set a timer for sipping so you can remind yourself you need this so sip sip sip. Hope these tips help

I go back to see my surgeon today, would have been my 3 week followup, still kind of is, since he did open me up and I am still healing from that.
I will hopefully find out today if he is willing to do the sleeve on me, since the RNY fell through... fingers crossed!

Hey guys. I'm one week out on my RNY. I am on a full liquid diet for the entire month of November.
First and foremost, I'm off my diabetic meds completely, and the highest my blood sugar has been is 110, after a Protein Shake. If nothing else happens, it's worth it all just for this.
I too am swollen. I wore size 18 pants going to the hospital. I had to dig out stretchy 22s and sweatpants to be comfortable now.
I drink three Premiere Protein Shakes a day. One when I first get up, 'cause I know I haven't had anything to drink for thirty minutes; one after I walk my dog, and after I take a nap in the afternoon, each for the same reason. In between I'm drinking diluted Power Ade or Diet Cranberry juice, and a cup of some cream Soup. Last night I managed a cup of chamomile tea too. As long as I drink slowly and take "ladylike" sips, I can handle it with minimal issues. I haven't been charting my volume, but my output has remained light and I'm using the restroom six or eight times a day.
I can say this, I don't think about food. I've cooked for my husband and son, and done the grocery shopping without even caring. It's as though someone turned a switch off in my head.
Pain. Yep. I have it over my upper left incision, accompanied by swelling, but no redness or fever. The surgeon had my JP drain removed prior to leaving the hospital Wednesday, even when the nurses thought my output was far too high, but he felt my body would re-absorb what he was seeing and because I live three hours away. I'm attributing the pain to that. All the other incisions are pain free. I spoke with the Bariatric Coordinator at the hospital on Friday, and she told me that pain, bruising and swelling at that incision was normal. I have a tendency to be too active too soon after any surgery, and I think I'm going to try to slow down just a little. It's hard for me to do, as my Lab pup, Woody, loves his walks and swimming. I may just have to throw him the ball more in the yard. My son is being quite helpful with the laundry, but I swear my house would quickly be buried under dishes and debris if I ever was afflicted with something that truly kept me on bedrest!
They sent me home with my Q-pump and Tylenol #3. They would have given me Norco had the dispensing legal requirement not been so problematic with a prescription crossing state lines. I did okay for a couple days, until the T#3 started causing Constipation. I had Norco at home from a previous surgery in August, so I've been taking that crushed and mixed with Water. It's nasty, but effective.
The surgeon also told me to forego my blood pressure meds, but I couldn't abide the 158/68 readings I was getting consistently, so started taking a minimal dose, bringing it back down to 121/68. I think it's pretty safe to say I'm going to have to lose some weight before I can go back off them completely.
As to losing, I haven't--maybe a pound or two, but with the swelling, I don't really expect to see any. My face already appears thinner, I think the fat is coming off, but the water retention in my belly is keeping it from showing up on the scale.
Anyway, that's how it's going here. I am reading everyone's posts and thinking of each of you...just not spending much time at a keyboard. Hang in there!
