  1. @@395Ron How are you doing? We got the letter from your wife in the thread "anyone having surgery in Oct." about your complications. I sent her an e-mail but I bet it went to her spam since she doesn't know me because I haven't heard from her. Hope you are doing better! Miss the positive attitude from you!!! today is the last day of our October List of People! We had a total of 110. I think soon I will be spending more time on the Post surgery forum. Let me know how you are!Praying for you!!!

  2. This is my 3rd time starting the process for surgery. The 1st time I found out I was pregnant with twins, 2nd time I found out about my husband cheating and divorced him losing my insurance. This time I've made it! I officially have my surgery date of November 16th. I'm excited and nervous. Anyone else live in Missouri? I'm having my surgery in Columbia Missouri and love closer to Springfield, would love to find a few people to become friends with that are going through the same thing.

Hello, I live in Eagle Rock Mo. on Table Rock Lake. 15 min. north of Eureka springs. I'm about 1 1/2 hrs from Springfield. I had my surgery Oct. 8th 3 weeks ago, & doing great!! I had my surgery In Fayetteville with the Roller weight loss clinic there!! Very happy I did it! and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be! I started the October list of Surgery's thread in pre -operation & there is a lot of good info on there, also good info in anyone having surgery in October thread. Best of luck to you, I don't think you will regret it!!

  3. Hello all! Surgery was Tuesday, had a rough 2 days but woke up today with hardly any pain! Getting discharged today (yay) can't wait to recover in my bed without nurses poking me every 5 mins lol. My surgeon has been by to see me she said surgery went great. Can't believe I actually went thru with it!

Hello TyTy! Glad you are better today! It's so much better at home for some rest!! I still think sometimes did they actually do anything! But still no hunger & if I hadn't had it with as little as I'm eating I would be starving!!!

  4. OOF! I didn't think I'd run into dumping so soon. Supposed to transition to full liquids and Protein Shakes. Two sips of a Premier Protein shake and BOOM, shakey, nauseous and racing heart. Apparently lactose is no longer my friend, there's only 5g sugar in the 11oz pre-made shake.

My doctor said to wait 2 weeks to try the premier shakes, so you might try again later on. He only wanted me to use the bariatric shakes like Unjury those 1st 2 weeks, probably because of the sugar.

  5. Ugh...super super super bad day...work was horrible...hurting tonight. ..not getting my Protein and Water in. Scared to death I am going to end up malnourished and dehydrated. Hormones all over the place...could cry on command...just needed to vent...love you guys...going to bed

I'm having a bad day today too!! Didn''t get enough water & protein in yesterday, so headache & no energy today! Trying to make up for it today but it isn't easy! Sending you hugs & hopefully tomorrow will be better!

  6. Just an update my doctor called I am so happy my test results for my thyroid came back normal from my blood draw yesterday so I don't have to go on meds and guess what I'm rescheduled for next week Thursday... In all actuality Thursday works better for us since y husband doesn't have to take off as much work as I have the weekend with him and happy to see they were looking out for me and hey all in all in the grand scheme what's a week!

Wonderful!!! Everything works out for a reason!!!!

  7. @@lisamarie0817 It sure has!!! How are you doing? your about a week out aren't you?

Im doin great....yes im 7days post op.....just still trying to figure out my eating schedule....i mean i feel perfectly fine i take in.the right amount of protien and fluids with no problem....but i still feel hungry sometimes is that bad?

Sent from my LGMS323 using Tapatalk

I didn't feel hungry but I wanted to taste something different, or chew. You may be feeling thirsty. Glad your getting everything in thats a big hurdle that some have a hard time with.

  8. Wishing all of today's surgeries as much luck and easy recovery as I've had.

I'm almost two days out now and while I can't say I'm completely pain free, it's nowhere near as bad as I expected. I was discharged from the hospital after just the one night. No nausea at all, and I'm working on the tedious 'sip sip sip' that'll keep me hydrated.

I should've learned, though...I fell asleep on the couch and needed help getting up again. :P Silly me, it's a ilttle early for situps!

Glad your doing well! Its amazing how a surgery that sounds so painful is less than expected, thank goodness!!!

  9. Well unfortunately I went in for my surgery even got prepped and everything but they happened to realize a thyroid issue with my blood work and thought the safest route would be to put me on meds for a few weeks and make sure my levels were under control and then reschedule because the thyroid effects so much including apparently blood pressure and he said it could even with y levels cause me to crash in surgery and if they didn't give me the right amounts of something because of course they can't predict that exactly with me not being on thyroid meds they might not be able to bring me back so I am glad he is being safe just a little disappointed I have to wait a bit longer but that's OK won't be too much longer

I'm so glad they caught it, but I'm sure your a little disappointed! Time is flying by, it will be here before you know it!!

  10. Hi. In hospital room now. In ZERO PAIN. Un flippin' believable. Woke up feeling like I was punched in the gut but that's all. Nurses could not be nicer. Hospital ward in Mountain View CA is newer and beautiful. Nurses are letting me nap a little which is great bc I was too anxious to sleep for several nights.

All of your advice was spot on!! Thanks!!!

Can't believe I'm on the other side!!!

So good to hear!! Its amazing isn't it! I was so worried before mine. Nothing like I expected! I didn't sleep before surgery & only 2 hrs in hospital, so by the time I got home I was exhausted!! You will be too. Then the boring sip sip sip starts!!! Sounds like you got this!!!

I will have to check it out! I noticed you do a ricotta bake, its probably the same one I do! One of the first things I made when I could eat soft foods! I made homemade chili a couple of days ago, my normal recipe except leaner beef & no sausage. Ate 1/2 cups of it & had no problem! I do add a lot of Beans to it. Tasted so good!!!

@@60&goin4it - Please share your chili recipe! :)

Not sure how good this is for all bariatric patients but I seemed to manage it 11 days out! Small dime size bites, chew chew chew, & slow! Its my own recipe & has a lot of ingredients.

Terri's Chili Double batch Use large Pot

3 lbs. lean ground beef browned & drained well, set a side.

In a large stock pot add 3-4 TBLS. olive oil, I use Baklouti Green Chili Pepper flavored olive oil.

Mix seasoning together in small bowl:

    3 Heaping TBLS Chili powder

    1 TBLS Brown sugar

    2 1/4 tsp. Cumin

1/2 tsp. Chipolte ground pepper or red pepper, I prefer the chipolte (can use more if you like spicy but start with this 1st.)

    1 heaping tsp. Oregano

1 tsp. each salt, pepper, paprika

    2 tsp. cocoa powder (opt.)

Saute in olive oil for a couple of min. do not let burn

    Add to pot

    2 large Onions chopped

1 Red or green bell pepper chopped

3 large cloves of garlic chopped

    Saute in seasoning till tender

    Add to pot

    1 28oz can crushed tomatoes

1 14oz can diced tomatoes & green chilies

1 14oz can diced tomatoes (Plain, Italian or a 10oz can of rotel if you like spicy)

    1 can beef broth

2 cans Mexican style or spicy chili beans not drained

2 cans Dark Red Kidney beans Rinsed & Drained

1 can Black Beans Rinsed & Drained

3 TBLS Red Wine Vinegar (don't leave out)

    1 TBLS Worcestershire Sauce

    Mix Well

    Add browned ground beef

    Mix Well

Cook on low-med Stirring occasionally 3 hrs. May add some Water if gets too thick.

I make mine the day before. Just let cool & refrig. Freeze's Well, thats why a double batch, I freeze in containers enough for my husband & I each a serving.

    Enjoy

  13. Recuperating in the hospital. I'm feeling pretty good, actually. Feel like I did a few too many sit ups, but no serious pain. Still not allowed to drink anything yet, but I get to try a popsicle soon.

I've done several laps around the unit, got my catheter out, but right now the worst thing is dry mouth. :)

Glad your doing well! Just remember to take little tiny sips when you do get something to drink, I'm sure they will probably remind you.
