Insurance Appeal
Yes, his insurance says a BMI of 35 with a comorbidity such as diabetes should qualify. He is diabetic and I'm sure he has apnea. So he should have been approved. I'm really hoping someone just overlooked something. My mother is going to call herself tomorrow and talk to the insurance but he is so upset right now.

Insurance Appeal
Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while My dad is in the process of getting his sleeve, he's scheduled for July 5. Unfortunately he just found out that his insurance denied him because his BMI was under 40. I know his BMI is over 35 and he has diabetes, so I don't really understand why he was denied. His surgeon is filing an appeal. My question is just to aleviate his anxiety, has anyone been successful with getting an appeal approved? And yes, I know it all depends on your individual insurance. I just want to be able to tell him that people have been successful with an appeal. He's so frustrated with the whole process, all the tests he's had to go through, he's already had to reschedule once and this may just make him loose hope on having surgery at all.

Post Op Jewelry and Clothes
I just bought smaller rings since nothing I owned was very expensive. I'm getting divorced so I haven't had to worry about resizing my engagement/wedding rings LOL I didn't know arm spanks were a thing.

Beginning the research
Has anyone had insurance cover any of their surgery? I could probably get documentation that I have skin irritation from my doctor and if anyone is in new jersey and can recommend a plastic surgeon for a consult that would be awesome

Beginning the research
Thanks. I know it will be worth it, just as the sleeve itself was. I'm not as concerned with the pain, I have a good pain tolerance. I'm more worried about how much time off of work I will need.

I've thought about that. Even if I never hear from him after tomorrow, chatting with him has been fun and a nice little ego boost.

I have a date
Oh I think that's a good one, coffee, nice and casual...How do you feel about talking about the sleeve? I think it's a very personal thing. I probably wouldn't until down track. But that's just me. Whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't think it's first date information but if i feel like there could be potential for a long term thing i would mention it after a few dates Sent from my LGLS991 using the BariatricPal App

MY SKIN
weight loss with the sleeve can be fast. I was loosing a pound a day in the beginning. In almost a year I have lost 200 lbs including my pre op loss...for reference the skin is a concern, but it's better to have loose skin than to be overweight and unhealthy in my opinion

Is it still cheating if...
If it's not on your diet then, yes, it is cheating. I would be using this time to make mental changes as well, don't think about cheaing, think about sticking to your diet.

Change to Social Life
My socail life hasn't changed much. I'm an introvert without many friends so I don't go out much, and I don't drink. But the times I have gone out nobody noticed or cared how little I ate. Just don't draw attention to it and nobody notices.

Curves gym
all of the ones closed by me. I like Snap fitness. They are little gyms that are 24 hours. You get a swipe card and can go whenever you want, and there's usually very few people there. You can get a free trial for a month (Or maybe it was a few dollars)

Apples or Peaches?
If you like apples and peaches.... as a sweet treat I filled a crock pot with apples and peaches and cooked them down to mush. Then added a tsp of vanilla. The best applesacue ever!

well he has definately moved on
Wow, this is exactly what happened to me. I was always overweight but gained a ton of weight when we got married. He is big too and LOOOVES to eat. My parents had made some comments that I had gained weight and he was always like nah she's fine. I always just thought hey he loves me and sees past my weight. But I know he was in a long term relationship before me with someone who was also very large. Maybe that's just what he likes, and he didn't like that I lost weight and gained confidence. After 12 years it's so hard to let go, I miss him, I miss my best friend, I miss rolling over at night and draping my arm over him, I miss our jokes But I know he was bad for me, he stopped loving me, he made me feel bad about myself. So many of my family members now have said that they could see I have been miserable for a while. Even people I don't see that often said it. I know it's better, and I have to believe that I will find someone better

I don't blame the messenger actually, the message was one of concern. Something like I see he is involved again are you ok. Since their name wasn't their real name I don't know who it was. I really do appreciate the support here. I don't have many friends and it does help just to get it out.

Eating restrictions after surgery does it get an easier to swallow and get food down?
What are you eating so soon? At 2 weeks I was still on liquid. And yes, it was hard to get it down. you are all swollen inside. It takes a while for that to go down. After a few months you will be able to eat a little more
