  1. Brilliant explanation Babbs! Very helpful in understanding all the work happening inside the body. Thank you!!
  2. I was outpatient too. We were home by 2pm and I'm glad. It was nice to be in my own bed. My mom and husband made sure I got my mess around the clock and really don't think I would have been any better off in the hospital.

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

Today I did notice it's harder to swallow and I had tummy issues all night last night. I called my NP and got a prescription for protonix, I've been on Pepcid. I'm hoping that helps, I think it's acid and reflux, which had been better until last night. I found protonix worked better than Pepcid before surgery but ran out and Pepcid is what I was sent before surgery. Fingers crossed.
  4. OMG! So glad someone else posted that question. My surgery was 8/31 and had my gallbladder removed at the same time. I can tell you my surgeon wanted me off a few extra days, also had hiatal hernia repair. He said I would have a little additional pain, but it's not made this intolerable. As for recovery, I have zero pain from the site they did the gallbladder work, just from the large one on the left. I have been off pain meds since Sunday. I do have a lot of stomach rumbling after I eat. I'm on full liquids now and it's just after the thicker Soups. I think that may be more gallbladder related but I don't know. I've not had any nausea and stopped those meds on Friday. I love that the continuous nagging pain in my ribs is GONE!! Sorry, probably not a huge help but, that's where I'm at, hope it helps some. Sleeve buddy

Hi there! I was sleeved on 8/31 and thought I'd chime in. I too see improvement every day, but as a nurse I thought I'd share some hints that made this easier for me. 1-my bed is high but using a footstool to get in has been a lifesaver. Also, I sleep on the right side of the bed, the most painful incision is on the left and to get out of bed I drop my left leg just over the side and use that to help me get up. Prop a pillow under your knees if you're still sleeping propped up on your back, it helps! 2-be careful with ice, suck, don't chew, it causes more gas . 3-tracking fluids, I fill a 1 liter bottle with Water in the morning. I then use a small Blender Bottle and put 8oz in at a time and I know I have 2 hours to get it in, if I fall asleep, I just know I have to sip every 10 min instead of every 15 and I can usually get it in. With all that said, I too am still struggling getting in the water and Protein but at least that little blender bottle keeps my from feeling overwhelmed by how much I still have to get in! We can do anything 8oz at a time....over 2 hours. Hope that helps, it's fun to see how others are doing too and know I'm at least on track, sorta. Toni

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

Feel like I turned a corner today! So glad to make it to full liquids! Went the grocery store alone and picked up a few extra things to get through the next few weeks, and maybe wanted to see how it went on my own. Moved much slower through the store and I'm ready for a little nap but .....yay me!! Hope the rest of the 8/31 peeps are doing well today!!

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

Ugh! The gas pains! Kept me up off and on all night. Better today, I'm thinking I pushed it too much yesterday. Everything I drank yesterday either had protein or vitamins in it. Sticking closer to just water today and figure if I get 30 gms in, I'll take that as a win. I've divided the premier protein into 3 servings, hope I sleep better tonight.

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

I was sleeved on the 31st also. Doing much better today. I got out a bit yesterday and today, require very little pain meds and agree, getting up isn't nearly the beating it was just 48 hours ago! I did manage to get 33gms of protein in today but only about 32 oz of fluids. I need to work on that!

    Nicholson Clinic

I probably could return after a week, but I'm glad I don't have too. I am planning to work remotely from home next week. I was out of the house yesterday and today but get exhausted after a few hours. It was nice to know I could just come home and rest. I didn't nap but after an hour of down time, I wasn't so worn out. I really haven't needed pain meds except at night the last 2 nights, and that's just to be sure I get a good night sleep. I'm lying on both sides (with lots of pillows for support). The gas is by far the worst part.

    Nicholson Clinic

I was sleeved by Nicholson on 8/31 and have had only a positive experience so far. I also had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as well as removal of the gallbladder. His office initially told me he wouldn't be able to remove the gallbladder but when I went for my consult with him, he was very agreeable about doing it. Hope this helps.

    Former csection mommies

    Agree, C/S was WAY worse!
  13. Newbie here and I've found this site so helpful! I was sleeved 8/31 and I'm doing pretty good, but do need some clarification. Will I damage my sleeve if I drink my 4oz in 30 minutes vs taking an hour? Thank you! Toni
