Afraid work will make me delay surgery......can they?
DaisyAmy replied to Mary2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't know. I know, for my work, all I did was send a note from the surgeon saying I would be out from date X to date Y. No comment on what the surgery was and I never had to justify it. -
6 month pre op diet
DaisyAmy replied to manmountain526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely check with your insurance. I lost about 50 pounds on my 6 (turned 11, long story) month diet, so I don't even know what my insurance would have done otherwise. My NUT did say the reason they ask us to do it is to show that you can commit to a plan and make the changes you need to. -

Haven't seen it - wonder if my store carries it? Thanks! -
4.5 months out and requesting guidance
DaisyAmy replied to anewme2015's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm curious to hear what others say, too. I feel like I've been gaining and losing the same 2 pounds for weeks. I really limit carbs to what is absolutely unavoidable and getting in about 800-900 calories a day. -

Out of pocket cost after insurance pays
DaisyAmy replied to ld33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My weight loss center had a $200(?) program fee and then I had to pay a $20 copays for each monthly visit. That was it besides the cost of vitamins, shakes, etc. The surgery was covered 100% -
My Husband Abandoned me 3 days before Surgery :(
DaisyAmy replied to sweetiediaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry you're going through this. What a jerk. I have a feeling that, in the end, you're better off without him. -
Well, hello collar bones.
DaisyAmy replied to QuilterGal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So exciting!!! Congrats! -
It's not so much that veggies are bad for you (once you are ok'd for that texture), it's just that there's no room for them after you reach your protein goal for each meal at first. Eventually, you can incorporate a few bites of veggies as tolerated. I haven't had any issues with any veggies, but you'll have to see how he does. Well cooked, non stringy veggies work best at first.

change of policy Angeles Hospital in Mexico?
DaisyAmy replied to lost-in-motion's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
There was a gal who posted the other day - she does YouTube videos - who had to cancel because of all that mess and only finding out about it right before her trip. Sounds sketchy to me. -
Revision to sleeve Tuesday. Going to a funeral Thursday.

Glad it worked out for you to get a new date. Now, you can concentrate on remembering your sweet grandma. Best wishes to you. -
Me before weight loss surgery
DaisyAmy replied to tracey022216's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Best of luck to you!!! -
You can get it anywhere (grocery, drugstore, Walmart), but definitely the best prices at SAMs or Costco.

NO pre-op diet? How much did you lose?
DaisyAmy replied to dlfnjgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes, I agree with the last two posters. Getting over the carb withdrawal headaches preop was probably a great advantage. You might want to consider cutting out carbs at least (and caffeine, if that's your gig). -
For the purposes of this forum, I've seen most people give 3 weights: highest (HW), surgery (SW), and current (CW). So mine is HW 310ish, SW 255, CW 226 (surgery 12/14/15)

I was craving the salty crunch of chips, too. I tried the protein chips and they're ok what I found recently, though are roasted edamame and chick peas. They sell them at the grocery store.

How long was your hospital stay?
DaisyAmy replied to Angie74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bet you'll be ready to go the next day. My surgery was around 11 and I didn't get into my room until after 4. I was itching to go the next day. Was home by 2. -
Looking for people who are just starting the bariatric process
DaisyAmy replied to XxStephYxX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's standard to get a catheter when you go under anesthesia so you don't have an accidental discharge while under. I've had a catheter several times for other surgeries and they have always waited until I've been under to put it in. They usually take it out shortly after surgery. I never had a problem with any of mine. It wasn't bad at all. It all depends. At my hospital, it's pretty standard NOT to do a catheter - to the point where they have signs reminding you to use the bathroom right before your procedure. I was pretty happy to not have to go through that! -
Wondering if anyone had their surgery and never got a barroom swallow or some type of radiology after surgery.
DaisyAmy replied to rgallardo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon doesn't do it. I asked and he explained leaks are not likely to show up right away anyways due to swelling and he found that he was doing tests that never showed a problem, so why do them. Made sense to me and I was fine after. -
Menopause before surgery?
DaisyAmy replied to j16's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went through surgical menopause about 5 months before my sleeve. Definitely had hot flashes before and still get some now, but not as bad. Hard to say if it's due to the weight loss or just getting used to the menopause. -
Question about Cholesterol
DaisyAmy replied to sherryboberry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My cholesterols are ok, but my triglycerides are still high (but lower than they were). I was hoping to get off Lipitor. Oh well. -
What about something like this?.. Turkey pepperoni, topped with a little sauce, cheese and whatnot? It might satisfy the craving without doing you in.
-
I ate the top of a piece and felt nauseous after. I had been craving it like mad, but no longer!!!
-
I'll be heading to Vegas at 5 months out. How did you fare with eating there? I was thinking vodka/cran might be my go-to as well, and I don't plan on getting crazy.
