Try calling Dallas Bariatric Center. Their number is 972-331-1111. I don't know for sure if they will take your insurance, but I had very good experiences with them. Dr. Jayaseelan is excellent and I highly recommend him to anyone in the area. I live in Wichita Falls but my husband and I both made the drive to have our surgeries with him.
Hi Kates706, I would say check with your local weight loss centers. I first attended an information session they offered and they had excellent advice. From there I contacted my health insurance and I had to apply for the surgery. Then I was assigned a case manager who connected with me every month as I had to do 6 months supervised weight loss management.
So each month I would meet with my primary doctor and go over what I had done for the month, and my plan for the next month. He signed off on things and sent it to my insurance case manager. At the end of the six months I had to weigh less than at the beginning, or stay the same. I just could not gain any weight.
Once I passed this, then the insurance determined if I was eligible. I received my approval letter in July of 2015 and will have my surgery on September 9th.
The weight loss center where I will have my surgery gave me a wealth of good information. After all they deal with this every day, they deal with all kinds of payment options, insurances and situations. Let someone there help you because there are so many twists and turns along the way.
