  1. I am not announcing on Facebook but am telling people individually as I spend time with them in person. I mainly decided to be open about it because I have some fitness obsessed friends who have never had a weight problem who are always trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong that's making me unable to lose weight and implying that I must not be trying hard enough. I want to be a success story that will make them reconsider their prejudices regarding obese people in general and wls specifically. This guy friend of mine seems so sure I'm going to gain back the weight. I plan on using him as motivation during maintenance
  2. Maybe the doc thought you had Jesus in your womb? (Sorry lol feeling snarky)
  3. I wonder if it is just running straight into your intestines?
  4. Wow. I hate that the medical community doesn't listen to their patients too. If you say there is no way you are pregnant then they should have retested right then
  5. I'm concerned about this too. I have MAJOr problems with stomach cramps and extremely distracting hunger right now and I know they say hunger is reduced with the rny too but a part of me is worried I will be one of the people who is still hungry afterwards. I wish they were taking the rest of my stomach out like with the sleeve
  6. I have had my metabolic rate tested and it is definitely lower due to years of yo yo dieting. HOWEVer I actually think that doesn't give the whole picture. Even when I am in a highly controlled environment where I have no access to extra food, if I eat the calories in my rmr and workout for 6 hours a day, I don't lose. This suggests to me that other factors are involved such as perhaps greater absorption of nutrients in some individuals? Also, not all calories are created equal and just because almonds are high calorie according to a calorimeter doesn't mean it will equate to the same number of absorbable calories in your body. We still have so much to learn.
  7. Yeah that is what is keeping me going: The thought that after the surgery I won't have to struggle as much with hunger. It will be a nice break from that sensation, Even if I will be nauseous and in pain. Day 18/30 of my preop! Almost there! I hope your surgery went well!
  8. I'm may 16 too! Yay for us!!
  9. Yeah I definitely did not come across as the most well adjusted person in the world but she passed me anyways. I think they are on your side and are only going to say you can't have the surgery if there was like a serious issue that came up. One of the riskiest things would be to perform this surgery on someone who can't follow directions. So they need to make sure you are motivated and capable of doing so and provide you with additional resources to help when necessary.
  10. I upped my water today and went on a long hike and it seemed to help
  11. Ok. I will change things up. I wonder how many people actually make their goal by following their plan
  12. Veggies are either carrots, broccoli, celery, bell peppers, or mushrooms and meats have been tilapia, lean beef, and chicken Yes they require optifast and they have cancelled other people's surgeries when they didn't hit the goal Maybe I should do my own thing the last week?
  13. But honestly I keep forgetting to eat the apple. I'm not really a fruit fan
  14. 5 optifast 800 shakes per day, 1 cup veggies with 1 tsp olive oil, 1small Apple, 3-4 ounces of lean meat Water, crystal lite, and decaf coffee
  15. I'm so frustrated with my body! It just doesn't want to lose weight. I went to a biggest loser resort in December where I was in a controlled environment in the middle of nowhere eating what they gave me and working out 6 hours a day and did not lose. So now I am on a month long optifast plan and am supposed to lose 14 pounds. If I don't they will cancel the surgery. It was TOM when first weighed in so I was carrying a lot of water weight. That first week i lost 7 pounds due to loss of the water. The next week I lost 2. So I am down 9 pounds and have 5 more to go in 2 weeks. That doesn't seem like a lot but my TOM is coming back. I haven't lost anything this week according to my scale. I have cheated twice but the combined total of both cheats adds up to 1000 calories so only explains 1/3 of a pound. I am exercising, drinking 80oz of fluid a day, and following the diet. If they cancel this surgery, I will have to wait until August to get the surgery and have already been taken off the schedule for the month following my surgery date so I won't get the hours I need to maintain full time status and will lose my insurance. I don't know what to do any advice? I have 11 days before my final weigh in.
  16. I can't wait for pureeds because I have always wanted an excuse to eat hummus all day ;P
  17. Good luck to those of you having surgery tomorrow! This is getting real!! Please report back when you can!
  18. I haven't even had the surgery yet and I am enjoying this thread! It is giving me a window into my future. I wish more RNY peeps would reply.
  19. I screwed up yesterday and hope it doesn't affect me reaching my weight loss goals. They want me to lose 14 pounds and I have lost 9 so far with 2 more weeks left so I am hopeful but TOM is coming so not totally confident. I am drinking a lot of Water to flush all that bloat from the sodium out. I have had 2 slip ups since I started. The first time it was the day after my EGD and I think it was because I was out of it on EGD day and got behind on my Protein supplements. Yesterday, it was because I went on a really tiring hike and didn't drink enough water or protein ( I sweat incredible amounts so the 16 oz I brought must have not been enough) By the time I got home I was ravenous. Live and learn, I guess!
  20. Ohhhhhh I'm so excited for pureeeeds
  21. It's almost mayyyyyy [emoji4]
  22. I agree. It is really difficult to pick a goal weight when I have been overweight my entire life. At the moment, I have picked a reassess weight instead: 190. When I get to 190 I will reassess whether I am happy there or want to go lower!
  23. @@asmallerme2016 how exciting! Actually that seems like a lot to lose in 10 days! @@~Pam~64~ I don't know how you all are sticking to such a long preop diet!
