Well my doctor's office has a very specific (and helpful) education series and when you are approximately four weeks from surgery, they start you on Optifast on a Saturday (so that everyone is getting the information at the right times. I am grouped with about 5 other women) So whenever your surgery falls from then is how long the diet is but it is supposed to be about 4 weeks. I think they do it that way to make sure that everyone gets all the info they need. I'm fine with it. I will do whatever it takes to get this surgery at this point!

I'm on day 10/30 of my preop diet. Feeling good! 1/3rd of the way there!

I know I am really struggling today as well. The first week I was all excited which made me more able to keep it up but now Optifast is getting old and it is hard to imagine staying on this for 3 more weeks :/ I guess we just have to keep our eyes on the prize!

Wow! Rent the runway sounds like a cool site!

Let's encourage each other! Say what your plan is and when you started and when it ends. I'm on a modified Optifast plan (includes 1 small, home cooked meal a day) and am on day 8/30! The final day is clear, sugar free liquids only. I can't wait for this phase to be over! Who else?

thanks, everyone!

I just had it done. I told my dad " that was fun!" And he thought I was weird. I'm a little sleepy but no sore throat. I don't remember a thing other than chatting with the nurses about liquid diets before I went under. They used a small needle for my iv so I barely even felt that!

It's a standard part of their preop program

I'm super excited as well. I figure that with all I have been through in my life, I can certainly make it through this! So I'm actually not scared at all. The only thing that scares me is the stories of people gaining all their weight back even after this!!

Wow! These surgeries are like a miracle!

I really wanted the duodenal switch because my friends who have had it had AMAZING results! But I couldn't find a surgeon in the area who does it. I will take diarrhea over being morbidly obese any day!

How are you two feeling about it? Are you excited? Nervous?

So it just seems like, since pcos is a metabolic disease, it would make sense to do bypass.
-
I think bypass has more of a metabolic impact and will definitely help with insulin resistance
-
Congrats! I will be right there with you in May! 5/16/2016!
-
Isn't the bypass usually a better option for pcos? Maybe I am wrong.

Day 4 of the preop diet! I'm feeling like I can do this at the moment! I have my Egd on Friday and hopefully that will go ok. Going strong! 26 more preop days (ugh)

I think I like the idea of getting the biggest size at a normal size clothing store and just trying it on periodically until it fits and then I know I can shop there
rentfrowg and Stephinae Howard reacted to this -
I wanted to get a goal outfit and realized I don't even know where normal sized women my age shop?! My 30 something friends are plus sized and my 20 something friends buy dresses so short I considered getting one as a shirt. I like girly, slightly bohemian style, similar to anthropologie. But nothing really jumped out at me on their website. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I had a Decaf Americano today. It wasn't the same but it made me a little happy anyways
