Yep, I thought the same thing at just under 3 weeks....no WAY could I be stalling yet and why the heck did I gain a pound on top of it!?! I had been losing a pound, sometimes even two a day and now the scale was mocking me! I forced myself to stay off the scale, at least for a few days at a time, and made sure I was getting all my Protein and fluids in. Low and behold after about a week and a half, the scale and I have made peace again lol. It sucks and it's hard going through that first stall but just hang in there, you WILL get past it.

i had my surgery 6/9/15. today i met a big goal of mine: 215, aka my smallest adult weight. i looked at my day of surgery pic, and i am amazed at the change that's happened in such a short time. so here's my dos pic and one from today. and also some face pics...for most of my life, i was overweight but i never had a full face until the last 4 years. so very glad it's slimmed back down!

You cannot measure your future success by your progress at 2 weeks out. You also can't measure yours against someone else's for the same period either. Nor can you compare your own weeks loss and expect them to be the same each and every time. I've had several weeks where I lost nothing. I'm sure I'll have more.
As your body held onto its weight in its own fashion, so too will it lose it on its own terms. Your assist in this is to continue to do your part, and eventually it will happen.
I'm nearly 11 weeks out and from the outset I gave myself at least a year to let my body do what it will. I'm simply a passenger studiously following the rules, serving in the most important supportive role of my life. If then, after a year I'm not fully satisfied with the results, then I'll reevaluate my eating habits, exercise, Vitamins etc. to see where I can streamline the process to make it more productive. Right now, I don't break any rules. I simply don't allow myself to stray from the course in any way. That's my way of easing any underlying doubts I may harbor about not working my tool to its fullest.
It took a year to get through the approval process, and it'll take another year to hopefully reach goal, and then after that, if I'm ready, I'll begin considering some plastic surgery. If nothing else I've learned the monumental value of patience involved with this surgery. I will reach all my individual goals, but only in their designated times.
    Good luck!

I'm in so much discomfort right now. Been on prescription NSAIDs for 5 years for severe Fibro. Going cold turkey. Surgery in two weeks. Tylenol just isn't cutting it. Then I learn I have to change another staple med I have because it's an ER form but they don't make a non ER release form so my Dr needs to find a new/compatible med real fast. Shitz getting real

@@Tina1969 I went through Mayo's Pain Rehab a year ago because I have chronic pain due to a nerve condition called Thalamic Pain Syndrome. I have it as a result of a stroke I had 11/27/13. I'm on Gabapentin and Lyrica. They both come in liquid form. Have you ever been on either of them? I'm in 24/7 pain even with the meds but I can't imagine if I wasn't on them. They're actually membrane suppressants and not pain killers but I know Lyrica works for my best friend who has Fibro. Just an idea.

A moment of reflection: Ok, this is for the now trying to get rid of the past negative stuff. Before, co workers friend and family members... Just eat less and exercise... that's all you need to do... have some self control... push yourself away from the table. "WLS is the easy way out." You don't need WLS you just need to stop eating so much. I can't find something pretty to wear so I'll stay home. Have you heard these before?
Post op Coping skill from the ever growing box of coping skills: A facet: to help cope with the physical change seen in the mirror. These are things I heard and were said to me too. After having the surgery going through post op issues daily, and yes daily... the masses seeing the change and the change continues until there is no more... stuff from the above list.
Now it is... "OH you are too skinny!" "Are you sick?" No boobs + no butt. You get the strangest comments from friend and family... it's not about how you look now... It makes them reflect and maybe not so comfortable about their own situation. It's always a lot easier to focus on other peoples issues and or problems. Turn it around. Make it positive! Learn more about WLS and share what you learn. Be an advocate for WLS and help stop the shaming from WLS and morbid obesity.
BTW: The new body is not new, its been dormant waiting to bloom.

I have one of those pillows with arms that you use to sit up un bed, they're called 'husbands'...lol. really, thats their name. In anycase, im a belly sleeper, and since thats not an option right now, prop the husband up on two pillows and use an addittional one to support my head in whatever position i need. I contemplated a recliner but i dont have the funds. Hope i helped somehow.

Last night I was FINALLY able to lay on my right side only and I fell asleep for maybe about an hour then I woke up with back pain. I felt like all of my belly was just "falling" to the right side, which made my back hurt. I was even using a pillow under my belly.
So I tried adding more pillows..to my back, between my legs, a puffier one under my belly and nothing helped sooooo I defaulted to my back and didn't get a good night's sleep.
The good news is, my pain is starting to subside and it gets better with every passing day so I'm hoping by the weekend I'll be side sleeping! If not, my family should be scared... LOL
@@LadyReyven I hope sleeping is getting easier for you!!

Thanks to everyone for the advice and support! Talked to my nutritionist and she suggested that it may be all of the Vitamins in the Bariatric Advantage that was irritating my stomach a bit. She had me start making them with milk instead of Water to see if that would "coat" my tummy a bit. I'm not a big milk person so I was really worried that I would be even more nauseous but much to my happy surprise, I am less nauseous and my stomach is not burning anymore! Here's hoping the rest of this diet is smooth sailing! Thanks again everyone!

I am so sorry! I totally understand the frustration and how devastating it feels to be denied. About 7 years ago I had went through the whole program just to be denied 3 days before my surgery! Keep trying though and don't give up! I did give up for several years and went back to trying to lose weight on my own. This past January I deceided to try for surgery again (with a different insurance company). I made sure I was meticulous about playing by all of there rules. This past Friday I received final approval for my Sept 15th surgery! So don't give up! Find out exactly what they want from you, what kind of documentation they want, etc. and appeal, appeal, appeal! In the mean time, keep looking for support for your friends on here! We're here for you! Good luck!

The "head" hunger stinks but I have to say, it felt kinda good that I was able to identify that I wasn't physically hungry I was just tired and wanting comfort food. Not too many months ago I wouldn't have been able to identify the difference.
I am on day 3 of my 14 days drinking 5 shakes a day plus Water. I have already dropped 14 pounds! This is really rough but I keep reminding myself that it's not forever and all of my efforts will be worth it. Yours will be too! Hang in there and best wishes!

Hiya! I just joined today and would love to have a preop friend! My surgery date is in Sept. as well, the 15th. I'm excited but the nervousness is starting to kick in as the date gets closer. How are you feeling at this point? Do you have to do a special preop diet? Mine starts next Tuesday, 2 straight weeks of Protein shakes and nothing else! Everyone tells me you stop being hungry after a couple days. I sure hope so! LOL
It would be awesome to have someone to talk to who is going through the same thing as me and I would love to be some moral support for someone too!

I am currently preop although I have done all my clearances and have my surgery date (9/21). Just looking for some preop friends to talk with up until (and after) surgery. We could help keep eachother on track diet wise, and could help ease any fears we are having. (we all have those fears that our non-overweight friends or spouses just don't quite get). I am located in upstate NY but I am open to talking to anyone from any location. I do have Facebook etc if you prefer chatting that way. Who knows, we may become great friends!
