  1. My surgeon gave me the option of staying a second night. I was feeling pretty good so I went home the 2nd day, only 1 night.

I belong to a Secret fb group for sleevers in the month of October. Its been great, most of us joined before surgery and we all went thru the process in Oct. I highly suggest it for anyone upcoming surgery if you are bug on fb.
  3. I had a hiatal hernia repaired that was suspected when I had my sleeve done. I am 3 weeks post op by the way. I am taking 6 weeks off work as that is how long my lifting restriction is because of the hernia repair. I'm also a firefighter /paramedic, so that has alot to do with it. I think 3 days is way too soon in my opinion. The first few days is not easy getting your fluids in and it's too important not to put your full attention into it. At least a week. Ask your surgeon about your thyroid medicine. In my case, it depended on the size of the pill. Anything smaller than your pinky fingernail was ok, but that's a surgeon or nutritionist question. Can't help you with any of the other questions. Good luck with your surgery. We'll see you on the other side soon!
  4. Hello all. I'm looking for any advice on a problem that has come up just the last couple days. I was sleeved on wed. the 28th, so i am post op 4 days now. I have been sleeping in my recliner so that i don't have to lay flat, which bothers my incision. I have been using my cpap every night, but the last 2 or 3, especially last night, i woke up several times with the driest mouth i've ever had. Ive used the nasal pillows for years without a problem. I don't know if my weight loss has anything to do with it, I've gone from 276 to now 249. Anyone experience anything similar?

    Self pay in GA

Sorry, i don't know, insurance paid for mine. Their number is 865-694-9676 if you want to give them a call and discuss it with them. A friend of mine, and really the reason i went there, was self pay.

I had dr. Williams at new life center for bariatric surgery in Knoxville, Tn if you are close to Knoxville. Great team, great surgeon, i'm only 2 weeks postop, but the support you receive from the center seems great.
  7. Do you have a cookbook or blog or anything?
  8. 1 1/2 more weeks of liquids, then puree, then.......this! Can't wait, thanks.
  9. How'd it go? My surgery was last of Oct so I'm looking at going back around Christmas. And you're right about the time of year, I thought the same thing. I'm a big sweater in the summertime. Would be easier to get dehydrated then.
  10. Good luck brother. I'm a fire medic, told work I'd be off 6 weeks. Like you, I was worried about getting busy and not being able to get my water in. Take care of yourself.
  11. Just my experience here, i am 2 weeks post op. just had my 2 week checkup yesterday. i am on liquids only, and i have 2 more weeks of liquids before i move to soft foods. I'm doing broths, protein soups, protein shakes, etc. Also, you have to get more fluids in, have to or you will be in the ER soon.
  12. My wife fried up some sausage this morning for my son's before school. The smell made me nauseous. I am 14 days post op. Just wondering, will it always be like that or is it just because I'm 14 days post op?
  13. Cool. By adjustable.....you mean being able to raise and lower the head/foot ???? Yes
  14. Are you able to dial it up so it's really firm and you don't sink down in it ? This is my complaint with the memory foam. I simply sink down and my back never feels any upward pressure from the mattress. yes, you can dial it up as high as you want, you can make it like a sheet of plywood if you want. I keep it around 45 i think, but as i lose weight, may need to go up. You cant go wrong with it. My only complaint, though minor, and after 18 years of marriage isnt really a big deal, but its not a snuggle bed. With two independent air mattresses in it, its hard to snuggle in the middle.
  15. I just answered this in the other link, but we've had a sleep number for 10 years or so. Still as comfortable as day one. I have noticed over the years as my weight fluctuated, had to adjust the air. At least now it should only go in one direction now! I would consider the adjustable sleep number they have now, that wasn't an,option when we got ours.
  16. We've had a sleep number bed for 10 years probably. Still like it. I wish they had the adjustable one back then.

    Heart palpitations ?

Yes, I have heart palpitations, or in my case, they are PVCs. They are pretty common, BUT, you should make sure there isn't any underlying heart disease. I had a stress test done with a cardiologist. Mine are sometimes related to stress, but not always. They are very annoying. Actually, you aren't feeling the palpitation, but the beat after it because the heart chamber fills with extra blood.

Sleeved Oct 13 just now having nausea

Have you run the patch vitamins by your nutrionist? What did they say? I was going to ask mine when I go for my 2 week post op appointment. I feel like they push their brand of vitamins on us, which are powder, and I am so sick of them already. I used the patches presurgery, but they insisted on theirs for after surgery. The patches are so much easier!
  19. I have grown tired of the charcoal smoker and am looking into a new electric model instead. I must say, the best food I have had since surgery is a piece of smoked salmon. You can put that in anything and it tastes like heaven. I learned the other day that we are only supposed to be eating around 3 egg yolks a week, to keep Cholesterol down. Well, I love eggs, so I have come up with a recipe for deviled eggs that replaces the yolks with smoked salmon. Cannot wait to try it! I was eyeing salmon just an hour ago at the grocery store. Looking forward to smoking some in a few weeks when I get off liquids. I have a masterbuilt electric smoker, that thing is absolutely awesome. Makes the best meals and it's alot less work than the old smokers you have to babysit all day long.
  20. I am a recent sleever, day 8 post op and I am also a big BBQer. My latest thing lately is using my electric smoker. It makes the most delicious foods. I'm in the same boat as you are, was wondering how my life will be after my post surgery diet is complete. I plan on returning to smoking soon, my family loves my smoked Mac and cheese and I've already had a request for my smoked turkey for thanksgiving, even though I won't get to eat any of it.
  21. I wouldn't worry about it, I took small pills for pain after my surgery a week ago, never had a pain pump.
