  1. That's the "leaf hits the water bottom****
  2. Yes, agreed, we really are all different and should do what is best as we see fit. To be honest with you, I use to be a workaholic, overtime, I was there, weekends I was there. I even remembered having surgery and leaving a week later on assignment to Ethiopia but the truth is never again! I feel that I have neglected and over worked and pushed this body too much and hence the reason for some of my health problems. It's time to slow down and love me a little bit more. When my grandmother use to tell me to slow down because " it's not the same day the leave hits the water bottom that it starts to rot" I thought she was over reacting but she was right, the effects of much of what we do to our bodies are not felt right away but later we pay the price. It's difficult but I am learning to take it easy. I am trying to treat myself better than I did before. In my line of work, we, as humanitarian workers give so much , physically , emotionally and psychologically. I need balance . I don't have a family of my own, though I do adopt a child in every country I have worked. Not officially but financially and otherwise. As my colleague once told me "D, you need to save a little of you for yourself and your unborn children" To think I haven't even slowed down long enough to find me a man. Learning to take it easy at 35 years old.
  3. Ok. Sounds like you have a little room to breath so that's good. My job is not very strenuous but the environment within which I work is. I do humanitarian work and find myself in war torn areas all over the world. My travel back to where I am currently working, will take me three days by flight, 17/1/2 hours nonstop being the longest leg, hence my Dr. Reason for insisting on 6 weeks of resting.
  4. For me a sweater and a pillow for the ride back. And even a pillow they had given me but these places are always so cold. So I suggest taking a sweater along.
  5. Thanks all. Mom 26. Do you mean you will go back to work after four days? No way! My dear, please give yourself some time. I also forced to the hairdresser and fell into deep sleep under the dryer, as if I was lifting blocks all day and I am three , well almost. Two days short three weeks out
  6. I am almost three weeks postop and have been feeling considerable better than the days before but today I decided to take a walk to my fruit man to purchase coconut water and let me tell you, I am still catching my breath. I thought I was over the hill but it seems I am still climbing. Was thinking of going back to work at the end of the week though my dr. Gave me 6 weeks off but, having second thoughts now.
  7. Prayer are with you even now. God bless.
  8. Keep going to the ER for as many times as you deem necessary! Take no chances with your health!
  9. @laguerr, as Jamaicans would say " big up yourself man!!! Big up yourself!!!
  10. Watch out for high blood pressure, dry mouth, fatigue, insomnia and racing heart and irritability. But it dose work. I didn't like the side effects. I was a cat on steroids.
  11. I didn't expect that gas pains would last so long. I am 2 weeks , two days out and this has is just sitting in my stomach. At one point I could eat because there was simply no space. Walking and constant movement along with hot liquids are also helping. I also didn't expect this level of weakness. Did my laundry today and boy oh boy . Also visited my storage two days ago and almost collapsed. This because I simply forgot to eat. Upset stomach, is it the same as nausea? Well if it is it's the worst thing ever! Besides all these, I guess it's OK. I am slo very grateful for this site as I am sure without these references I would be so depressed. Grateful also for my friend who talked me out of doing the surgery in Mexico as having my doctor close by has proven quite helpful.
  12. Congrats. Rest up, it helps with the healing. Walk when you can, that also helps with the healing. I am two weeks out. Doing laundry as I type and boy am I tired but, thank heavens I am still stinger than yesterday and the day before!
  13. Will I ever be able to eat a normal meal again? Like a normal human being? Oh boy..... I am really feeling down. Been invited to a 12 course meal with an il important client. What do I say, I mean, small portions are ok but this is ridiculous ! So mad at me!!!!
  14. Hi, I was sleeved on 26 August . I am down 18 lbs. I am on a puréed diet but have had some pineapple today though I didn't swallow the pulp. Mostly soups and porridge and yogurt and I even tried a scramble egg, more like a spoon full. Gas is giving me pains but I am trying to walk as much as I can which is twice a day around my park. Say 45 mins of walking.
  15. Gas and its first cousin are about to kill me! I don't have the energy to move any more. Been moving all day to see weather one or both would move but, as if I were voodooed, They simply refuse to move!!!???
  16. @babbes the same happened to me. I put a bit of vitamin E on the rashes and now not so bad.
  17. Good to know you are feeling better. At the moment so am I with the exception of gas, but , this too shall pass.
  18. Went to the rest room to do number 2 last Wednesday and since then, 4 days now , I haven't gone again. Would like to take a laxative but I am afraid.
  19. I have com to realize that not everyone's surgery is the same, in that, we all didn't loose the same percentage of stomachs. I asked my doctor to remove less of my stomach because for me I need my stomach for work. But as I sit here trying to get in my liqiuids- I need four sittings to get one box of protein shake down. I wounded to myself.... Then if her removed less of mine and I can hardly drink, I would simply die if he has removed the regular amount. Do you know what percentage of your stomach was removed? Sometimes I wonder if this was the only way. Did I exhaust all other options? Though I do like not feeling hungry all the time and not eating something and feeling bad about myself after I did. I don't know . But since I can't go back I might as well should go forward.
  20. I really sympathize with all these feelings you are all feeling.... Can not be easy. I am just 11days post opt and have asked myself why so many times but I can't go back so I might as well go forward.
  21. @ Bloomer. No I didn't have a 6 months wait. I waited 3 years for this surgery.
  22. Laura, the same thing happened when I got rid of my ex husband . My neck pain went away!! Figures..... Lol
  23. Thanks Emily, but as my grandmother use to say" every heart knows it's own sorrows" and one can only do the best one can do . While I agree I should and I have indeed walked. Recovery is a personal thing. I salute you for being able to go back to work in three days! I would not have been able to! A week perhaps but, three days?? By the way there is no doubt my friend means well but at that time I simply couldn't do more than I was. Best of luck on the journey !!
