  1. Congratulations! I have lost approximately 38 but have seem to have come to a halt. I'm trying to do the same thing. I'm able to eat anything now, unfortunately, but do have some issues with reflux and can definitely only a small portion. I love the sleeve.
  2. I'm down 25 since September 2nd. It's amazing! I actually have some trouble eating anything other than soft foods. It feels like it gets stuck after a few bites in my chest. I love cottage cheese and Dannon fit 'n light Greek Yogurt. The vanilla coconut is delicious, only 80 calories and high protein. I've tried salmon and shrimp. Maybe I'm eating too fast odd. Love my sleeve! I started to work out this past week. I can't wait to get to onederland!
  3. Good luck everyone! The pre-op diet is HARD. It definitely gets easier post op. I was having some major hunger pains, POST OP on my 5 and 6 nights post op. I read on another website that a surgeon (? wrote a book, maybe a Hispanic name) discussed this as being inflammation in your stomach that feels like physical hunger. I'm not talking mental hunger here. He recommended Gavisccon (sp?) and it has helped. I was scared my sleeve wasn't working. It's amazing how the pounds just melt off the first couple of weeks. Although you're not eating much. I feel so much better already.
  4. I'm in the same boat, lower BMI, self pay. Don't feel guilty, this is for you! You know the low stats of keeping weight off once it has been lost. It's depressing. It what makes us all want to do it. I'm sure there's others here, besides me, that are all tired of losing the same weight over and over.
  5. I'm starting to get hungry with my 2 week post op liquid diet! Ugh! I'm drinking about 2 oz of protein shake every 2 hours. and water in between. Soft food in a week.
  6. I think everyone is freaked out before surgery! I'm 1 week out and am doing well. 13 pounds down including pre and post op. I don't really feel that hungry either. I was hungry last night though and had a sugar free Jello. The popsicles have been good too. I've had some diarrhea (sorry TMI) which I'm not sure if it's dumping syndrome already even without food. I will ask my surgeon next week. I usually have just the opposite after pain meds/anesthesia. I also had trouble with ice cold Water. It seems to hurt a little. Unsure if that could cause dumping or not. Weird. No more YETI cup for now. The nutrition warned me about that or anything hot for the first two weeks. I've had really good luck so far. No nausea, off pain meds pretty quickly, etc. I did walk in the hospital as much as possible, even 2 hours after surgery. The nurses were surprised but I was scared of that gas pain! Maybe that helped. I don't know.

    Buyer's Remorse?

Keep in mind the statistics of people who lose weight the normal way and keep it off. I believe the hormones in our body DO not let most of us keep it off. I think it's 25% but quite honestly probably lower than that. This is a huge change in the way we have always lived our life, it's going to take a while to get the hang of it. I am seeing a therapist every other week because I feel like I must have some unresolved issues that made overeating a problem to begin with. I read on another post about all the hormones that change after the sx. One lady said she had her period for 2 weeks afterwards . Weird.. Big changes ahead!
  8. I think they are about even for me but my C-section was 8 years ago so I'm not sure. I got up and walked as soon as I could after both of these procedures to help with the pain though.
  9. I wish I would've known about those two things before my surgery. The dry mouth was the worst in the hospital. I'm 5 days out and feeling pretty good. I'm experimenting with different Protein Shakes. I'm noticing a little hunger today but I didn't notice any hunger the first days. I only had to take pain meds for roughly 2 days. I'm glad it's over! I'm being bad about weighing myself every day right now. I'm sure that I switch to 1x/week in the future but I'm anxious to see some decreasing numbers right now. All in all, I think I'm doing pretty good. I still can't sleep on my stomach though.
  10. Mine is tomorrow at 12. I'm soaking my gel nails off now for the anesthesia and getting nervous. I just read a review on Rea self of someone that has had problems. I could have done without that! Good luck everyone!
  11. Mine is September 2nd. Yikes!
  12. I don't feel like a light weight since I put on 20 pounds this year but I have approx. 80 pounds to lose. I'm doing my 2 week post op liver reduction protein diet. I'm struggling on that and that really scares me. I have not been perfect. Especially today. I seem to be depressed or anxious or something. Am I really going to miss my "frenemy" food that much? I am seeing a therapist to work on these issues since I guess I do not have a healthy relationship with food. Surgery date is September 2nd and I'm nervous. I'm glad I found this website though. I think this will be a good resource and have "friended" people with similar histories or surgery dates.
  13. My first night on this website. My surgery is scheduled for September 2nd. Scared! I had a nightmare last night. I would like to friend some people going through this at the same time. Thanks
