    Tricare and PCM

Hi, you can change PCM online and from what I was told by Tricare, as long as you have put in the change you can start seeing the new PCM. You will have to call them to see if they are accepting new patients first, and then they (new PCM) will have to call them. It seems faster when you do it online.

    Doctor changed diet today.....

I just ate lowfat thinned creamed soup with no chunks of course, I feel so much better. Thinned cream soup is on my full liquids list. Gas pain is almost gone. Kudos to the nurse at my office.
  3. Hi, everyone, I am 4 days post op and I have posted about being gaseous and both of my calf muscles are beginning to knot up. I am on liquids, so I called the office today because I can bearly get enough liquids down before the gas pains hit hard. I believe I am knotting up because I am not taking in enough liquids; I try but the band will only let me drink so much and then I am full and in pain from gas. The nurse changed me to full liquids and I feel so much better, the gas is almost gone. She told me to buy orange juice with no pulp too for potassium. I am so glad she lifted this gas and muscle ordeal off of me. Anybody else had to move up to the next stage before time?

    Doctor changed diet today.....

Hi, they did not authorize me to eat mushy foods, like mashed potatoes and stuff, just full liquids. Yogurt is considered a full liquid on their list. Everything must be sugar free. I really do not have a stomach for solid foods right now.
  5. Hi, I was told because it causes gas pains.

    Alabama/Georgia area??

Hi, I am in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Titius Duncan is one of the best, Peachtree Surgical Associates. They are a center of Excellence. I had surgery on Monday and feeling good, incisions were not that sore, gas pain was a pain. That was about it. He is a very busy doctor, but he knows what he is doing.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi, I was banded on 4-14-08. Gas pains initially, but they are better.
  9. Does anyone know the actual statistics?? How many people have slippages?? Erosions?? My surgeon said he had only had 2 in the 5 years that he had been doing Lap band!! Does that sound right?? I had my surgery on Monday and my Doctor, Dr. Titus Duncan, he gave us a consent package. The most I saw in percentages concerning complications was 1-3%. I had never had any type of surgery, so I was a little scared, but when I read that and prayed, I felt a little better. Now, it seems that headhunter could have used a doctor that was not experienced in doing the Lap Band. When I chose a doctor I went looking for the best and he just happened to be a Tricare participating provider. I think some complications will exist with all surgeries, but you just pray and trust God number one and then you pray for the right doctor. My thoughts on this matter.

    Doctor changed diet today.....

Hi, I thought about the Splenda, but the gas started the first day I was home. I only drank water the first day. I finally drunk juice like yesterday. You have to drink something and my instructions was for it to be sugar free. I ate a sugar free yogurt after I was told to move to the next stage and I was fine, gas pains are minor now. The cramping of my muscles in my legs always have indicated to me that I need more fluids, especially if I am not eating normally.

    Doctor changed diet today.....

HI, I was only doing clear liquids, no shakes. Just water, splenda juice, and broth. I will start a shake today since the doctor/nurse has okayed me to do so. I will only use water, I have suffered to bad with this gas.

    Tricare and PCM

Hi, is your doctor at a military treatment facility or off post? If he is on post, they will try to keep you from going to an outside doctor. If he is off post discuss it with him one more time and if not; go on your Tricare website and put in your zip code and it will pull all doctors in your area that are participating providers. Once you do this, click on the doctor to see if he is accepting new patients. You will look for a family practice doctors, usually those are PCM's. Your local Tricare office should have books also that give you a list of doctors in your area. I would switch doctors if he keeps refusing to refer you. My doctor is the sweetest doctor in Georgia to me, he knew what I had already done and he stands behind me 100%. That is the kind of doctor I would look for. You can actually change PCMs online, very easy.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hi, I was banded 4-14-08, new bandster, but as soon as I heal up I will be hitting the spinning/cycling classes at my gym. I lost about 20lbs before surgery from the class alone. I cannot wait to see how much I lose with my new tool. I can't wait to hit the cycling class and then buy me a bike this summer. Thanks, I like this thread.
  15. Hi, yes they did give me medicine for it and but on some type of pads on my legs. They told me to walk for circulation, which I have done everyday.

    Would It Kill Me....

Hi, I am 4 days post op and the gas pains were horrible, a thought came to me to eat more food so the pain would go away. However, I have not given in and will follow the orders of my Doctor. I would follow only what the doctor says; yes the thought will come to break the rules , but remember you have a goal you have to reach. Gas pains are easing up day by day.

    Christian Bandsters

Hi, everyone thank you for your prayers, they were answered by God. I am doing fine, except for gas pains. Surgery went very well, to God be the Glory.

    It?s official!!

Congrats! I was banded Monday, the gas pains are a pain in the neck, but I will survive.
  20. I am not in complication Lap Band denial. I am sure there are complications to any type of WLS surgery. To some it may be minor and others extreme complications. Who are we to say that this man is lying or have a motive? If he is lying , oh well, life goes on. I admit if I would have read this I probably would have had seconds thoughts about being banded on Monday. If not, we need to support him like we do everyone else. I will not accuse this person without facts.
  21. Hi, I am sorry you are having so many complications with the Lap Band. I am praying for you that all things work out well. Be blessed and know that God is with you.
  22. Hi, I was banded yesterday, having a lot of gas pain, but other than that, I am fine. I am on a clear liquids for a week, then next week I am on regular liquids. Then week three soft mushy foods and week four 3 meals a day and a two snacks, of course staying away from certain foods. I am not going through this pain for nothing,I will eat right. I was on a liquid diet prior to surgery so I am used to it now, just worried about not getting enough vitamins and a little apprehensive about taking pills because of the gas pains. Any suggestions?

Hi, I had to pay 75.00 for a nutrition eval, but if you live near an MTF it should be done without any charge, you would think.
