  1. Hello All, after being away for quite some time I am BACK to inspire, motivate, encourage and to be encouraged. I had my gastric bypass in Sept of 2015 and today I weighed myself and the SHOCK of seeing the scale read 201after 5 years was a SLAP in the face. Now today I need to lose 35 pounds. I need all of your help and encouragement. How do you lose weigh post gastric bypass? Can my stomach shrink? Has anyone else had this experience? Help need to reach my goal weight again. Please see recent photo below.

  3. HELP!!!!!Is it too early to hit a stall ? I'm 10 weeks post op . l've lost 44 pds walk/running 2 miles a day. Should I increase my workout?

9-15-15 here. I had some snags along the way, but am doing well now. I dropped 14 prior to surgery and 36 since. I too have been in a long stall. My Dr. told me not to worry. To concentrate on protein, activity and "sleep hygiene" and the weight would take care of itself. I need to up my activity no doubt, but have been pretty focused on portions, vitamins, protein and trying to get the water in. Are you eating enough? I've heard if you aren't getting enough calories, your body thinks its starving, same with exercise maybe? Good luck :)

Not too early at all. Your body will stop and stall many times through this journey. It's how the body readjusts to all the changes. In fact many people hit their first stall at 3 weeks. Do a search on 3 week stall and you'll see loads of post on it.

Oh okay my mind can't handle a stall...I have 13 more pounds to lose by 12/30 ugh...i was thinking abt increasing my calories and workout..i thought for a moment my digital scale was broken lol

  4. 4 weeks post op and I think today will be a day of fluids just tried to eat breakfast and I became so nauseous. This IS A PROCESS UGH.....

    1. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

At 4 weeks out that's perfectly normal. Listen to your body and make adjustments as necessary. Just focus on staying hydrated and getting in your protein.

Yes it is! I'm 11 months out and I still have those days. Sometimes you just have to let your digestive tract rest.

question: did you take your vitamins on an empty stomach??? that makes me nauseous... pardon the pun, but "that's food for thought".

  5. Day 22 post op down 24 pounds I was expecting more guess I'll have to work harder.....

Everyone loses at a different rate . If you read others posts some people actually gain after surgery or lose very little at first. So celebrate being on the losers bench, recovering well and most of your loss to date.

I think my problem is I want so much to lose the weight and I tried to lose 30 pounds in three weeks and to not reach my personal goal I felt some kind of way. Each of you are correct any lose is a victory now I wish I could lose my appetite again...

  6. Day 11 post op. I went grocery shopping and for the first time ever I felt as if the store had nothing for me to eat. This is truly a process a mental war I'm learning to focus on the finish line instead of the process..

The first few trips to the grocery store while you're still limited to liquids and purees are torture! It gets much easier, though there are still times when I want to just start shoving boxes of cereal in my cart. ;)

  7. Day 7 post op no energy and tired as heck. Any suggestions on how to get my energy level up ?

      samuelsmom

The major focus is getting your water and protein goals in. Everyone heals differently. Take short walks and rest in between. You have probably heard all of this before. Unfortunately, we just have to work with our bodies as they recover!

Go to GNC and try the Isopure clear protein drinks, that's what got me over the hump. Sip on those, 40g of protein.

hunger often goes away for *months*. Use that to your advantage!! I hope mine *never* comes back! (although for most people, it eventually does come back)

thanks for responding I'm on full liquids and prior to yesterday i had no problem getting my liquids in now the 80g of protein that's another story but yesterday I had no appetite I had to force myself to get in 3-4 ounce of protein..... I didn't know that this is NORMAL... So how do I prevent losing muscle with no appetite?

    4. PinkPolkadot619

      PinkPolkadot619

you will loose some muscle, you can work out and get it back. but right now you want to focus on food, and learning how to eat properly.

what are you craving. Also check in with yourself, why are you wanting what it is you want? how are you feeling, what are your emotions?

    3. NuOutlook

      NuOutlook

Thanks I realized that I wasn't hungry and I was craving all the wrong foods. I didn't give in. Does anyone know if head hunger gets easier?

    4. PinkPolkadot619

      PinkPolkadot619

I'm almost a year out. some days yes. some days no. Checking in with yourself each time you eat, some people keep a food log not only for their food intake but they document how they are feeling when they eat, and how they feel afterwards. It is a very wise practice.

If we don't address the emotional reasons of why we eat then we return to bad habits. Many of us have used food to comfort or replace something. :-/

    3. jane13

      jane13

I was told I could use miralax, but I was told not using the "backdoor" for a few days was normal. Call your doctor! Don't wait too long or you will be really uncomfortable and you will feel like your "door" isn't big enough!
