  1. I keep meeting people that are morbidly obese, yet say that they hardly eat anything everyday. What? It really comes down to an overabundance of daily calories and lack of exercise when you are more than 100 pounds overweight. It just seems that some have the hardest time admitting that they are an overeater. Even on this forum, I have read posts from others saying they never over ate and got very obese from psych meds and hypothyroidism alone. Sorry, no. Meds and thyroid problems will not cause more than a 10-25 pound weight gain.

Such denial will really get in the way of weight loss success after surgery.

You know? This reminded me of my sister, she is about 400lbs, mind you I know this girl my whole life and know she doesn't have any illness that contributes to her weight loss, she had the lap band done but didn't lose any weight (I read that it isn't very effective but people still lose some weight?) and kept eating the same way; however, she keeps telling people she has a tumor that makes her gain weight ????

  2. I was prescribed omeprazole as well for stomach acid, the first few days after surgery I wasn't taking it because I felt I had so many pills (I'm not a pill person at all) but ended up always hungry the NUT said was stomach acid and to take the pill and it did help.

  3. I think a month should be enough, I was freaking out because the doctor had schedule my surgery for a month since I had recently smoked and then there I went and had a cigarette and I was freaking out so I did a lot of research usually what they say they look for is Cotinine which stays in your system for about a week from what I've read, nicotine stays 2-4 days, I think you'll be alright. Good luck :)

  4. I'm going thru the same thing, I'm glad the second stage solved it for you and many others, I hope it will be the same for me because I feel so hungry and then I don't know if it's head hunger or actual hunger, I thought it could be the acid but I've been drinking the acid blockers, I start purée food on Tuesday, I'm so excited lol.

  5. Try some of the ideas mentioned. I'm only 4 days post op but boy was I hungry and then I was able to take the anti acid and now I'm fine, you'll be ok I guess it just takes time to get used to it. Talk to your doctor. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

  6. I originally told my mom when I first thought about getting it but I told her to please not tell anybody because it was my business, next day I get a call from my sister in law asking about the surgery, so I ended up telling my mom that j changed my mind, I got sleeved 2 days ago I haven't seen my mom in a few months so she might be able to tell idk yet. I did tell one of my brother, 3 of my best friends and my neighbor who had gastric bypass so we are like supporting each other through the journey. Other than that I don't know what I should tell people, personally I don't want to talk about the surgery unless is someone who might benefit from it too.
