  1. I had similar pain.. My surgeon told me that I was swollen from hernia repair and it would eventually subside. Make sure you eat slowly and chew chew chew
  2. I was also sleeved on 8/11. It seems like we are on the same track. I'm eating about 800 calories a day and I've only lost 22lbs since surgery. I've lost inches though. I eat lots of dairy.. Greek yogurt. Cottage cheese and Babybel cheese. Ground beef is a little tough but ground turkey and chicken work well. I also have a hard time getting 64 oz of Water in as I just get busy at work and don't sip so often. I do feel better though! I know the best is yet to come.
  3. I've grabbed a small Wendy's Chili. You can order just a grilled chicken breast only from Sonic and that's what they bring. Lunchables and protein shakes from convenience stores. I too have forgotten my lunch on occasion. I'm not able to due beef jerky or nuts yet but I think those will be great when I can!
  4. I'm also one month out tomorrow from being sleeved. Yay! I've been able to tolerate about half of a turkey burger with mild green chili and cheese. No bread of course and it was heavenly. Congrats!
  5. This has absolutely made my day and I'm totally going to do some numbers soon!
  6. I got the clearance yesterday to start eating soft foods. I can't eat much and I find myself having to sit up real straight and it hurts in my back when I get full. Weird. Still having a little nausea and diarrhea but I think I need a med adjustment
  7. I can't do the pre-op vanilla protein shakes. They do not sit well with me. I've tried protein water and that's even getting hard. I'm still forcing myself to get the protein but I'm not satisfied at all. I've ordered some new Nectar protein that should be in tomorrow. I hope it helps! After Tuesday I advance to real fooooooood.
  8. Social Worker with child maltreatment and also Hospice. I also teach an online University Class. Im a busy body.
  9. Girl im still on Protein Shakes, Jello, broth, and Popsicles until I go for my 10 day on Tuesday. Then I get to move up to the cottage cheese, refried Beans and such.
  10. You are going through a lot right now girl. Emotions are high and not very well regulated. I pray for patience, strength, and understanding during this difficult time. In Gods name.
  11. Girl I don't think I could make it without the protein shakes however the vanilla shakes (milk based but I mix with water) that I was doing before surgery go right through me so. I've been doing protein water from GNC. I get to start having soft foods after Tuesday. Funny because the first thing I'm looking at is refried beans lol . Hang in there. I had to start a new plan on my bible You Version App today because I really needed a distraction. It was a gloomy day! ❤️
  12. Lachlove .. Wow I have had a hard couple of days myself and this hit home. I think I actually am hungry. I went through the whole "head hunger" thing in the beginning but now I just feel like we weren't made to be without food entirely and if I never see another protein shake again it will be too soon. You. Are. Not. Alone.
  13. Me too! I do like this site, it has been very informative on a lot of different levels, but the negativity will also get you down. I like to think I'm a positive person, and that's the support I like to be around. I haven't found anyone more supportive then loving Jesus and being around others that do as well!
  14. I think that's excellent. I think you should find a group that fits your needs! Research and pray about it.
  15. Britt- I think it's personal. How long have you gone there? Do you feel supported? What are you involved in? Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to try out different congregations if you don't feel you are getting what you need. I wouldn't just switch on emotional day though. Feel it out.
  16. Sounds mirror image to me! I struggled with emotions losing 30lbs on pre-op even a few co workers trying to be supportive telling me I had done so good why have the surgery. I know myself though and protein shakes for the rest of my life is no quality. I went on vacation with my family to a water park on protein shakes. While I made it through, it was still awkward. I went to church yesterday and it just filled me up to conquer the next hurdles. I'm thankful for this blog to know that other people understand your emotions and the whole complexity of obesity and this surgery!
  17. Does anyone know how to add information to your profile? When I look at my profile it says nmstaci hasn't entered any information lol but I can't figure out how to enter it
  18. The first night I thought to myself "what did I do, I'm never going to be able to enjoy anything again" . I was blessed with no nausea so that's worked out and I'm still on clear liquids until my two week check up on the 25th. If I think about it too hard o freak myself out with the whole "this is irreversible" but then I read the threads of how fabulous people feel.
  19. I would love this! I just had surgery on 8/11 and barely found this forum. I'm not sure how to navigate it yet, so if there is a "thread" I hope I can find it.
  20. I've been open with my Family- Friends- and Co Workers, and I figure when people start to notice and ask I'll just tell them. I feel like I've already faces some challenges with people saying "you lost 30lb on pre-op diet, why not just continue that". Good Question. Quality of Life. I'm just going to keep on keeping on.
  21. What surgery did you have? VSG When did you have surgery? Aug 11 How much weight loss? 30lbs on pre-op diet. Favorite Protein food? Still on Clear liquids ???????? Hardest food to eat? Takes a long time to get my liquids down . Biggest NSV (non-scale victory) so far? My knees already feel better. One interesting fact about yourself? I have a full time job.. Work two part time jobs, and volunteer with FUMC youth on Wednesday nights.
  22. I took Chapstick but I was on oxygen so I couldn't use anything but water based. I took a robe for when I walked the halls but I wasn't too worried about it just tied the gown and went. Basically my phone charger, tooth brush, loose fitting clothing.
