    Letty's journey post-op

Like I have mention in the past I could get myself in trouble with nuts, I don't know why but I craved them all the time. Before surgery I hardly ever had them maybe twice a year if that. Well I went to Walmart yesterday and came across the PB2 peanut butter that I read in other posts, however I notice they had the PB2 with chocolate so I bought one and oh my God it's delicious I felt like I was having a treat (Reese's cup taste) and it only had 45 calories for two tablespoons, it was so good so I had to share it!! I attached a picture with calories info.

Happy new year to you as well. You look amazing! We stayed in since we still have my mom. I'm sitting in the ER with her now as she's having some chest pains for 3 days now. I am at 201 today as I gained a pound overnight lol. But this week the scale will hopefully move into onederland. Have a great day! @@lorri716 sending good vibes for you and your mom. Happy New Year!! 2016 to be the best year ever! I'm finally 189 lbs after 3 long weeks. My New Year end celebration was very good, went out with my husband and I actually felt pretty and comfortable in my own skin. I only had half of a margarita not bad at all.

You look fabulous. I have my 4 mos check w the NUT on the 4th and the Dr on the 14th. I was supposed to see the Dr on the 4th too but he cancelled and rescheduled. I guess that give me 10 extra days to lose a little more. I'm still not in onderland. I've been bouncing between 201 and 203 for 2 weeks now. I'll get there eventually I guess. I'm glad you're doing well. The weather here is finally winter like weather, which I hate. But I'll be back at the gym tonight. I wasn't feeling so hot last night. @@lorri716 you know I feel the same I been 191-193 lbs for the last 3 weeks and feel kind of guilty when I eat something that has too much sugar or extra nuts, I tell myself if maybe I didn't ate that I would be below 190 but you know what this is a lifetime change and we can't go forever not eating something we just need to learn to have a small portion, I know it's easier said than done but it will be something we have to work at for the rest of our life. On the bright side we went for a 1 hour walk!! I felt good. Let's keep it up! I know if I was in any other diet, around this time I would have gone back to my old habits and this time I will not let it happen.

I had my 4 1/2 month follow up appointment today and all my blood work was good. Only thing I need to add is the vitamin b12 super excited!! I have lost a total of 61lbs since I started my pre-op diet. I weighed today 192 lbs at my doctors office. This last weeks have been hard since they are food everywhere, but good thing I was able to lose couple of lbs instead of gaining. I need to stay focus cause I feel like this is where I could slip and start old habits. I need to go back on tracking every single thing I put in my mouth. I been doing good to stay away from carbs. However exercise not to good. I need to commit to do at least some walking. Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!

Oh my I forgot to mention that we went to belk and saw a black Michael Kors dress and my husband and daughter insisted on me to try it on. I tried the large one and it fit!!! Oh my I was so excited. I didn't get it cause I refuse to pay $120 for a dress. Well my daughter found the same dress at Macy and she got it for $49 on sale so she bought it for me for Christmas!! I will be posting some pictures for New Years, that's when I plan to wear it????????????

I forgot to mention that at the beginning I was having problems going to the bathroom, I was very constipated, however when I had my 2 months follow the doctor said it was ok for me to start drinking the ground flaxseed and chia seeds. So what I do first thing in the morning I take 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and another tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 10 oz of Water and all my bathroom problems disappear. Plus the chia and flaxseeds are high in Omega, double win! Below are the ones I drink and I buy them at sprouts or the Vitamin shoppe. Please get your doctor approval before you start taking them.
  13. I did not weigh myself until I went to the first follow up since I had already read posts from here and at the doctors office that I would gain weight after surgery. I felt like it would of been some disappointment if I did.

    Home from surgery

I took them for the first 2 weeks maybe and it did help some, best thing is to walk around as much as you can.
  15. I usually only eat one shake a day and still hit 90 to 100 grams of protein. Morning I have 3 egg whites with spinach, tomatoes onions and jalapeños, snack I have a chobani Greek yogurt, lunch usually 3 oz of chicken breast or any other lean meat with a side of vegetables ( broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, mushrooms) anything that it's steamed vegetables ( I don't have any starch vegetables example corn, potatoes, carrots). Dinner I have my protein premier shake and later on I usually eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and as a snack cucumbers, jicama with lime a chili powder. I'm 5 days away from being 4 months post op and sorry I'm from Texas not Manhattan????
  16. I could eat anything spicy, I actually started eating spicy at 2 months post op. My nut approved said if it didn't bother me I was able to eat it.

    What are slider foods?

I read an article about slider foods and this is what it said about slider foods: "Slider foods are often foods that does not satisfy hunger but instead create a craving. Any food can be a slider food if there is so much pleasure in the mouth-feel or taste that repeating the pleasurable experience takes on more importance than actually feeding hunger. Many are high calorie and highly processed, not nutritious."

@@rln52 I totally agree with you. It's a long term commitment to change our eating habits and I also could eat anything and don't get sick to my stomach. I always measure everything and don't go beyond that amount. As of today, I haven't had any fruit at all because that is a weakness for me. I used to eat tons of fruit before surgery and I know it could stop my weight loss if I start eating them. I also need to be really careful with nuts since I could eat them without having any issues. I did told my coworkers about my surgery and they are very supportive. Excited about all of us being a size 14!!! Yaay for us!! I also don't have any regrets having the surgery, sometimes I do think why I didn't had it earlier, however I know I was not prepared for the changes then. Happy Friday!

    Emotions after VSG

Oh my I remember those days and trust me it get much better, yes you will go back to feeling the old way. Hang in there it won't last long. I had my surgery in August and at the same time my older son went away to college, I was so emotional I cried in front of his friends when we left him at his dorm, cried all the way home and at night I remember I was just crying. It was bad, everyone have a good laugh about it now when we talk about it????????
