  1. The big thing is that you need to get up and walk around every couple of hours. I know it's painful but it's the fastest way to get rid of the gas and bloating. When I was in the hospital I was up walking laps in the hospital. It sucks, and it's painful, but it's the fastest way to get rid of it. Also - I was on liquids for 3 weeks after my surgery, you might want to stick with Protein shakes and Water.

The Best Decision I've Ever Made

My starting weight was 289 and my starting BMI was 42 43. I was in the beginning stages of Diabetes and fatty liver disease.
  3. Hi there! I wanted to post a thread to all of you who are still out there wondering if this is the right thing to do. A few weeks ago I was one of you. I was still asking myself if I really should have the surgery. I just wanted to let you know how I feel now, almost 3 weeks out. IT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF! Yes, I had the blues the first week or so, and the liquid diet has been the bane of my existance. But, I have to tell you, when you can visibly see the weight just dropping when you used to struggle so hard to even maintain a steady weight before - it's worth it. I also used to suffer from chronic fatigue. I would go to bed at 9pm, struggle to wake up at 5 am and drag myself around all day. I HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY NOW! Already!! I can pop out of bed at 5 am, hop on the elliptical, and I am full of energy ALL DAY LONG! I feel so alive! So I just wanted to tell you, if you are still having doubts - not even three weeks out and I'm so happy I could cry. ~♥

    Exercise

I got on the elliptical a week after surgery, but I was only on 5 minutes before getting off and getting dizzy. I'm able to go a full 30 minutes now.
  5. I'm about 9 or 10 days out. I could sleep on my right side fine after a few days, but left side is still a touch and go thing. I still get twinges if I try to sleep on my side at night, and usually end up on my back. I can lay on my stomach no problem, however. Just gotta be careful how I get back up.

1 Week After - Back to Work!

@hopefullythinme I've pretty much told anyone who asked what kind of surgery I'm having. Mostly because I'm not ashamed at all. It's not easy, it's hard work.
  7. Hi there! So I work in IT and it's a not very physical job most days. The majority of the labor I have to do is possibly carry a monitor to a desk or move around a laptop. I had my surgery on the 18th and I went back to work on the 24th. Some people I had surgery with are taking another two weeks off and are completely amazed. But I was walking laps around the hospital while they were only going feet, so I'm not sure if I'm doing really well or if I'm some bizarre case. They've also expressed amazement that I have no problem going up stairs, which give me no discomfort at all. Sure, I get sore, and take a pain pill before I go to bed at night, but I don't really feel like I'm pushing my body too hard. When I get tired, I sit down for a bit and then get up again. I guess after all this ramble I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who, like me, doesn't seem to need as long to recover as most.

    Secret sleever

A lot of people in the office know I've been on a liquid diet for the last couple of weeks, and they know I am going to be out of the office next week for my surgery. I'm not broadcasting it like "HEY EVERYONE - I'M GETTING WLS!!" but when they ask why I am more than comfortable being open and honest. I've come to terms with my guilt and doubt about whether or not to have the surgery. All they can say to me is stuff I've already thought about and have resolved. I don't feel the need to defend my decision. This is what needs to be done for my health and for my future. The only negative comments have been from my mother, and it's just because she is worried about complications during surgery. Everyone else has been excited for me (and some even a little jealous)

  12. I've been open and honest with people in my workplace. A lot of them have noticed me on my liquid diet and asked about it and I've told them it's to prep for my surgery next week. There's nothing to be ashamed of. I've had family members ask me why I just can't lose the weight naturally, but everyone at work has been super supportive. Two of the ladies I've told have even been jealous!

    A week left....

My surgery is on the 18th!! Counting down!
  14. Day 10 of my 2 week liquid diet. I've pretty much resigned myself at this point. I wake up, prep myself some Protein shakes for work. Make sugar free pudding and Jello for Snacks, look forward to my bowl of Soup at night for dinner, and relish my greek yogurt with PB2 powder (it's like a creamy Peanut Butter cup). Smelling other people's food has become daily torture, but I'm not as depressed as I was the first week.

    Gummi Vitamins

I'm feeling cheated - I'm still pre-op (on my 2 week pre-op liquid diet) and I was told no gummis. I'm taking the chewable Vitamins and they taste awful. I miss my gummi vitamins :c
