  1. Hey guys! Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I'm at 163. Total of 62lbs lost and 43 more to go till I reach my goal weight. I've had struggles and stalls but trying to stay motivated. Really hard with schedule to get enough exercise in. And to remember to take my Vitamins. Hopefully it will get easier. Going through the Hair loss stage right now too. Glad to see everyone on here. You guys keep me going!

  2. @@SleeveandRNYchica I can't have salad until 3 months, all the Dr.'s are different, I'm jealous, miss my salads! I'm at 8 weeks now, & still have a lot of the chewables left but once they are gone, I don't plan on staying on them. They are an extra 30 calories a day. I noticed a lot of us aren't on here as much, I think everyone is doing better & not as scared as before surgery, soaking up all the info we could!!! Plus just busy going back to work & holidays! Hopefully we will all check in periodically to see how we are doing.

I got my blood work back & it was very good except I had a little too high of B12 ! Go figure! Never expected to be too high in something. I think I figured out why, I drink a Powerade zero 32 oz every day & it has B12 in it so with the multi 2 x & it I'm getting too much. So I will cut back to every other day of the powerade zero & see what my next blood work says. I'm getting 45 min. of walking 6 days a week. The weight loss has slowed down but is still moving.

My B12 level was really high too but it's probably because I'm taking two B12 Vitamins a day. NP told me I can cut back if I want to. It was my choice but definitely need to up my Vitamin D.

  3. Hi! Changing your mind, or having a surgeon help you reconsider once you've decided makes it especially tough to realign your thinking. Kudos to your surgeon for looking at the full picture and recommending what's in your best interest.

I'm six months post op rny. I know you feel it's more invasive, but really wls in and of itself is invasive. Once you successfully get past the surgery and recuperation you'll see that the procedure is detailed but life afterwards is pretty normal. Don't get me wrong, it's an adjustment, but you have to adjust for any surgery! But I'm working at it everyday and succeeding... Surgery seems like the smaller part of the battle now.

    What are your concerns specifically?

Thanks for your response! Honestly- when I compare RNY to the sleeve, there's not a huge difference in severity. If anything- I feel more at ease not having 85% of an organ completely removed from my body. My biggest concern about RNY was pregnancy. I suffer from infertility which is caused by my PCOS- but my surgeon reassured me today that pregnancy is still safe after 18 months and nothing for me to fret over. The rerouting of my intestines is a little nerve wracking as well. He also said the recovery times were the same. How long were you out of work? I was originally anticipating 2 weeks for the sleeve. My employer is a gem and has been incredibly supportive of my journey so far, but I would hate to tell him I need more time off. BUT- I'm 27 years old and I need to get my life together before it's too late. When discussing my family medical history with my surgeon today, he was absolutely flabbergasted at the amount of heart disease. My father alone had 3 heart attacks which required 5 bypasses with his last one. He basically told me that with my genetics, I've been set up for failure. Lol. I laugh- but it's really not funny. It scares the heck out of me..
I am 1 month post-op and I am very happy with my decision. I am down 30lbs! I researched for months before deciding to go with the RNY. Not going to lie, you are sore like after any surgery but I was back to work after 2 weeks. Good luck to you! Let us know when you are scheduled.

  4. @@soonergirl619 how are you doing with everything?

I've been doing ok. Having a hard time getting my fluids in. Even a sip hurts. And lacking energy. I'm hoping after my appt today I will be able to start introducing pureed foods. But on the plus side I'm down 15 pounds since the surgery. How about you?
I haven't weighed in since the saturday before surgery. I'm doing a lot better today than 2 days ago. I try to sip constantly and really schedule eating, which has been a battle because I go to school fulltime and keeping a Protein Shake cold is hard. I'm still on shakes and haven't transitioned to any other foods but I do have broth and Jello if I need a flavor switch. I walk constantly but plan on going to the gym tonight to get on a treadmill. Today I'm going to try to get some protein20 which will help me get to my Protein goal a lot easier and worry free.

Good for you! I've noticed on here that it seems like everyone's process before and after surgery are quite different. Like me, my first week was strictly sugar free Clear Liquids and now this week until week 5 I go to pureed and soft Proteins like shakes and mashed up egg whites and stuff. Guess all the end results are the same right? Keep doing what you're doing and hope to keep in touch throughout this journey!

  5. I decided to copy this letter from @@395Ron wife. He is a big contributor to this forum & being one of the best supporters to all of us. He had his surgery on October 6th & this is what he has been experiencing. He needs our prayers & support as he always has given to us! What he is going through is not common, so don't let it stop you from having your surgery.

    Thank-You

Hi This is Ron wife Sherry. . I wanted to post on here to you guys it was very important to him that I post to you guys so I wanted to make sure I didn't forget.

He has gone thru the surgery and the day after he was doing great but started throwing up that night so they did a cat scan to see why and he had a kink in the intestine so they took him back to surgery and fixed that however while in surgery not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd surgery but he got sick while in surgery and tried to throw up but couldn't with the tu e down his throat and it went back down into his lungs this is called aspiration. It is very serious condition where the acids from the stomach contents can burn and damage the lungs which is what happened. He was taken to another hospital for a few hours then flown to the university of Maryland shock tram unit (LUNG UNIT) he has been on a machine that pumps blood thru his lungs to help heal his lungs . And is on oxygen to help him breathe. He is in very serious condition however we are hopeful that he will recover. But it will take time we are not sure how long .so if you don't hear from him that is why..if you have any questions please email me at slyliston2000@yahoo.Com as I won't see any posts here to tell you how he is doing and I'm not sure who all he was friends with and please pray for him that he gets thru this ty all so much for the support you all gave him during his research of his surgery and helping him prepare for it :)

Oh no! Prayers and hugs to @395Ron... Thank you for sharing @@60&goin4it, I look forward to hearing of his recovery and he will be in my thoughts until then...
I am so sorry that he is going through all this. We will definitely be keeping him in our thoughts and prayers. We are all like family in this group. Prayers for a quick recovery. Hope to hear from him soon.

  6. I have post op on Thursday. Just barely getting my energy back, but my last night I started getting a burning feeling in my stomach near the left side just when it was starting to not feel so sore. All I can say us I'm so tired of liquids. Lol... hoping to get to advance to soft/pureed foods after Thursday. And I agree on the gas, but I have yet to have a bm which kind of concerns me.
